leave a 9/11 event over the weekend. later, voters in delaware will begin heading to polls for a primary election. delaware's seat in congress is on the ballot, so are governor, lieutenant governor and wilmington mayor. delaware held its presidential primary in april. count on nbc 10 and the nbc 10 app for results. violent crash, right now police in mercer county are still on the scene investigating after two cars collided. >> four people in all were hurt in the crash. nbc 10's matt delucia is live on scene. hamilton township. matt, what do we know so far? >> tracy and vai, the crash is still under investigation. it's under investigation by the mercer county prosecutor's office. a little unusual for a vehicle accident. take a look at what this scene looked like just a little while ago. you see on this video we're west park avenue around 10:00 last night. two cars crashed, one of them
overturned. you can see the enormous damage on your screen. four people were rushed to the hospital. no confirmation of fatalities. one of the family members of one of the victims stopped by and talked to police and then left. they are not talking about what happened, referring us to a spokesperson who has not yet returned our calls. i want to come back live, show you here the scene and this street, this intersection. a worker at this 7-eleven. he said right before the crash he saw a police car going very fast on broad street by the store, then the crash hand and then a lot more police showed up. that's all we know at this point. as we pan over here to the left past the intersection, you can see those cars that were in that video. they have since been taken away. that happened within the last half hour. traffic really not being affected on this direction.
police still stopping traffic on the other side here of broad street. of course we'll try to get more updates throughout the morning. now, though, live in hamilton township, mercer county, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> 4:34, 64 degrees in philadelphia. police in bucks county are investigating the deadly shooting of a 2-year-old boy and the boy's father is being questioned. benjamin austin smith lived at home with his 26-year-old father and grandparents in milford township. the 2-year-old was shot once in the chest yesterday morning around 11:00. he died at a quakertown hospital a short time after the shooting. state police say the boy's father, nicholas wiley was the only other person in the house with the toddler at the time of the shooting. >> whether it was self-inflicted or not, that's a matter for an investigation to determine. >> the boy's father was taken to nearby state police barracks to be questioned. bubble wrap is what likely
triggered a lockdown at valley forge military academy. officials say an eastern university student in an apartment across the street from the academy reported hearing what she thought was the sound of gunshots yesterday even. police put valley forge military academy on lockdown. they didn't search victims or evidence of a shooting. they later determined the sound of popping bubble wrap is more than likely what the woman heard. >> we can laugh about it now. >> everything is now back to normal. >> it's good there was no imminent threat happening on the campus. last week itt technical institute shut down its campuses across the country, claiming federal regulations put it out of business. the closure affected 35,000 students, including month than 4,000 in pennsylvania. community college of philadelphia, ccp said it would
welcome the itt students for the fall term that starts next month. ccp's fast track enrollment at its main campus runs today from 9:00 to 5:00. new from overnight, five revolutionary cannons are in place in front of the new museum of the american revolution in old city philadelphia. this is a rendering of the new building and the cannons, trucks rolled in overnight to unload the massive iron cannons. the outdoor plaza opens thursday. the museum will be open to the public in april. for septa riders, there's another wrinkle. >> the newly repaired train cars are out of service again. wait until you hear what construction cruise uncovered and had to re-cover during a project at haverford college. clear skies, a little bit of a breeze in center city. that's keeping the fog out of center city. there are a few spots developing

jersey, an exit ramp is closed. if you're heading toward the shore area, the garden state parkway, the northbound ramp to the garden state parkway, exit 7, is closed for construction until about 5:00 this morning. i'll check in with the schuylkill expressway when i'm back in the next ten minutes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 20 minutes before 5:00. getting a sneak peek at the schuylkill expressway right there and boathouse row which looks lovier than the expressway. no offense, jessica. clear skies, comfortable outside with a cool morning. we're seeing some areas of fog farther north and west. easton, very light fog there. that's not the only spot. the fog has been down to a quarter mile in coatesville. the last few minutes, a little bit of improvement, a little bit of a breeze and you'll see the fog disappear. allentown has six-mile visibility. most of the area will be fog-free this morning. there are a few spots out there. sunshine, we'll get a lot of that. 64 degrees. once the sun is up, the temperatures will move from the 60s into the 70s and 80 degrees
by lunch time. look at that sunshine into this afternoon. a little bit warmer than yesterday with the south/southwesterly wind developing. that always warms things up, usually brings in more humidity. we'll still be in the comfortable zone today. suburbs, 61 degrees, any fog disappears first thing this morning by 10:00, 72 degrees. 80 degrees at 2:00 today. the same southwesterly winds will be blowing. they will be leitner the lehigh valley. 55 now. the temperatures still could come down a bit more before sunrise, which is about 6:40 this morning. so there's still time for more fog to develop. once the sun is up, a quick warmup will go away with the fog. 78 by lunch time. in new jersey, stand by for sunshine. bought full day, low humidity. 70s this morning into the early afternoon hours. then lower 80s this afternoon. for delaware and the jersey shore, you'll see sunshine in both places. at the jersey shore, 70s, middle 70s, similar to yesterday with a south/southeasterly wind at 9

man grabbed the protester around the neck. you see it in the circumstance there will. security let him stay at the rally. trump seemed unaware of the incident while attacking democratic nominee hillary clinton for calling half his supporters a basket of deplorables. >> hillary clinton turned to social media to say she's feeling better and can't wait to hit the campaign trail again. questions persist over why it took so long for her campaign to reveal the diagnosis. clinton spoke with anderson cooper by phone last night. she didn't think her diagnosis was going to be a big deal. a video showed hillary clinton nearly collapsing, unsteady after she abruptly left a memorial service on sunday. clinton denied fainting. >> i felt dizzy and did lose my balance for a minute. once i got in, once i could sit down, cool off, once i had some water, i immediately started feeling better.

flights. >> the outage struck the air tower yesterday afternoon. the power flickered on and off for about two hours. united had to cancel about a half dozen outgoing flights. the problem also caused delays over two hours last night. a woman arriving on a flight from aruba said her plane had to wait on the tarmac for about an hour. >> we were just delayed on the plane. had to wait because there was a blackout. we had to change our gate and, you know, everybody was patient and we got home safe. >> a source told our sister station in new york that a backup generator did not kick on like it was supposed to. the faa is investigating. 4:48. let's investigate and see if there's any delays on area roads. >> including the vine street expressway. that's where first alert traffic reporter is watching right now. jess? >> that's right, vai and tracy. the vine street expressway, these lanes around broad street just opened up. we are starting to see the

turnpike. roads are dry right here. just a couple of cars out the door. so that's what we wish it would stay like for the rest of the morning. we know that won't happen, though. we'll keep you updated, of course, when everything starts getting jammed up. egg harbor township, a ram subpoena closed for construction off the atlantic city expressway. if you're headed eastbound, shore points or the garden state parkway, trying to get to the parkway northbound, exit 7 is closed until about 35:5:00 this morning. we'll have more on this and your majors when i'm back in the 5:00 hour. >> thank you, jessica. mass transit news, septa slowdown, 18 repaired trains are pulled from service after a new defect is found over the weekend, inspectors say they found a design problem with the newly repaired cars. the rail cars will be repaired and put back in service sometime this week. 120 regional rail cars were pulled from service in july to fix a structural flaw that caused delays for commuters.
septa says they'll still have all of its trains back on the tracks by november. 'speaking of septa, they're getting a funding boost. the transportation authority is getting a $1.6 million grant thanks to the federal railroad administration. that money will go to philadelphia's lawndale station to construct a new pedestrian underpass and two rail bridges. the station is part of septa's fox chase regional rail line. workers make an unexpected discovery while renovating an old building in haverford college. >> take a look at this time lapsed video at the old gym on campus. as the crews were digging in the basement they came across a swimming pool that had been covered up. but this is one piece of history that just wasn't worth keeping. workers filled it back in with cement. it's almost a shane, filling in a pool with cement. >> can you imagine you're a worker, we got a problem here.
