sprinkles isolated stuff you can see in cumberland county right now. these showers won't last and you'll need your sunglasses during the day. already nice and clear in the lehigh valley where the temperatures have dropped into the 50s. a warmup, 65 degrees at 8:00. by 11:00, 73 degrees. just a few scattered clouds. mainly sunshine. and the humidity is lower. it's going to stay lower this afternoon. temperatures we're on track for a normal afternoon. 78 degrees typical for this time of year upper 70s in new jersey, the suburbs. at the shore, you'll find 79 degrees with mostly sunny skies for the lehigh valley. we'll go through hour by hour, but first, jessica boyington has the "first alert" traffic. >> starting off in the new jersey area of cherry hill township to be exact. there's an accident involving several vehicles on the southbound side of the new jersey turnpike. two tractor trailers and another vehicle as well.

again on the southbound side right around route 70. traffic is moving by the scene. if you need an alternate, 295. route 38 at nixon drive, it's fine. you can see no big problems delays in either direction east or westbound. 202 also looks great. still ahead of the time when we start to see delays out there. 90 minutes from the schuylkill expressway into the high 60s. we'll have an update on the new jersey roads when i come back. tracy. >> jessicas thank you. 5:32, today, hillary clinton is back on the campaign trail after she was diagnosed with pneumonia, but now both candidates are taking questions about their health. matt delucia has more. matt, the big question seems to be who is healthier. >> that's right. both candidates showing their health recordings and letters from their doctors. hillary clinton's doctor said

that she was diagnosed friday with mild noncontagious bacterial pneumonia, the two-page letter said that she's recovering well. and continues to be healthy and serve as president of the united states. republican nominee, donald trump, he returned to his reality television roots for a moment, choosing to release his records to dr. oz. the contents of those records won't be revealed until the show airs today. he said he feels like he did when he was 30. he spoke off the cuff at a rally in ohio. first wishing clinton well and questioning her stamina. take a look. >> now, we have one left. and in all fairness, she's lying in bed getting better. we want her better. we want her back on the trail, right? i don't know, folks do you think hillary would be able to stand up here for an hour and do this? i don't know. i don't think so. i don't think.

>> is and hillary clinton is expected to get back on the campaign trail today in north carolina live in the digital operations center, matt delucia, "nbc10 news." 69 degrees right now. the american beverage association has filed suit to block the philadelphia soda tax set to take effect in january, complaints by the restaurants and consumers is that the soda tax duplicates the sales tax. the tax amounts to 18 cents on a 12-ounce can of soda. and fund universal prek and parts of recreation parks in philadelphia. it's 5:34. rutgers university in new brunswick is working to fix a series of power outages on two of its campuses. close to 40 resident halls are

without power. the university moved them out into temporary housing in gyms and other building. >> kicking us out and i don't know where to sleep. >> they have set up like beds on the student centers on the other campuses. so there's going to be tons of kids just laid out all over the gym floor. >> the closures and cancellations affect the cook and douglas campuses at rutgers. students have been told the problem could last a few days. three other campuses are unaffected and operating on a normal schedule. from the south jersey bureau, burglars are breaking into sheds in cumberland county and they're taking expensive tools. a more than third of the burglaries involve landscaping equipment, swiping equipment in the sheds. thieves stole about $3,000 of equipment from garages. the city is asking the state

of new jersey for repreerieve f meeting the terms a loan. the city says it could do that from missing the deadline. it could start repayment of the loan. but the mayor said keeping the nua and tax is better for the is city's financial health. meantime, the atlantic city casinos records nearly a 5 a% drop since august. that's according to the figures just released by the state's gaming enforcement. internet gambling, however, was up 31% last month. the year to date total gaming revenues are up 2% over last year. vai. an atlantic city police officer shot in the head less than two weeks ago could get out of the hospital as soon as today. at ac police department said

josh vadell could be out and released when he's ready. vadell's partner shot and killed one of the suspects. two others were arrested. and from our south jersey bureau, two colleges are joining forces to ease the debt burden on eligible students. >> camden county college and rutgers-camden announced a program where students who earned a degree from camden county college and transfer to rutgers will receive a grant to cover tuition and other costs. >> we've been working with rutgers forever in very positive ways. but if you graduate with a associate's degree from camden county college are going to be able to move seamlessly to rutgers-camden. >> the program is only available to new jersey residents. full tuition will be paid for students with a gross income of $60,000 or less. students who meet the $150,000 will receive discounted tuition.

more than a year after a mudslide washed out a montgomery county road, officials still contend with headaches. they plan to meet to update the legal issues involved. the ground above the ballingming go road. and they're taking detours and increasing traffic in neighborhoods near. >> it's been absolutely terrible for over a year now. nobody really seems to care who is in charge. >> other residents told us the increased traffic on their streets has ruined the quality of their lives. registering your car could soon cost five dollars more if you live in montgomery county, two of three members of the montgomery county board is proposing the fee tonight. it would go to much needed

bridge and road repairs. also today a public hearing will be held on infrastructure issues in montgomery county including sore problems isn s i township. they'll discuss the problems and solutions at curtis hall. they face an $80 million overhaul to the sewer system. many of the pipes are failing because of their age or capacity. >> announcer: now your nbc10 "first alert" weather. >> 5:39. look at the wind blog in center city. that's a cooling breeze. we're in for a cooler afternoon. sunny and comfortable weather today. bright sunshine and just a few fair weather clouds. this evening, a touch of autumn in the air as temperatures will drop into the 60s this evening. the wind out of the northeast are a little bit stronger at south jersey. at the hour, 17-mile-an-hour winds right now. that's cooler, drier air flooding into the area you'll feel the difference during the

day today. still some scattered clouds in philadelphia. sunshine, we will warm into the upper 60s by 10:00. look at the humidity coming down as the day goes on. 39% this afternoon for philadelphia. really comfortable morning. cooler to start with. the skies are already clearing in the suburbs. 63 degrees and sunny skies from the 60s into the low 70s at lunchtime. middle 70s this afternoon. and humidity lower than what we saw yesterday in the suburbs. it's cooler right now in the lehigh valley. the clouds have already moved out. sunny skies. 70 degrees by midday. up to 75 degrees this afternoon. look at that humidity, just 36% at 4:00 today. in south jersey, that dry air also coming into play as the day goes on. clouds this morning. and a few sprinkles, too, to start with. won't last long. bright sunshine, 70s this afternoon. no sign of the upper 80s and low 90s we had yesterday. and the humidity will be a little warmer, higher at the shore. with temperatures cooler,

warming into the low 70s this afternoon. after dropping to 69 degrees at 8:00. with just a few scattered clouds. humidity higher as the wind is coming in off the ocean at the shore. delaware, standby. the clouds will be moving out, 70 degrees at 10:00. then sunshine, 77 degrees at 4:00 this afternoon. a comfortable day for delaware. won't be seeing any daytime rain. we've got rain in the forecast for the weekend when i come back in just a few minutes. all right, bill. a problem with the new jersey turnpike that wasn't a problem a few minute agency. >> right, jessica boyington. >> cherry hill township, it's clearing but traffic still moving by the area. new jersey turnpike, headed 70, route 70s, three vehicles were actually involved. two tractor trailers and another car. we'll keep you updated on that. blue route, a disabled truck here at the germantown pike ramp

for south philadelphia and delaware and the shore also 69 degrees to start with. suburbs with clearing skies. we'll watch the temperatures to come down. there's still time for that to happen. look at west allen township. low 60s in new hope. athens at 64 degrees. we will see sunshine. the clouds will move out of here. and we've got some weekend showers in store for us but for the day today, turning back to normal for temperatures. the humidity is down, and that's going to make for a really comfortable day after we tied the record yesterday afternoon. 70s for today and tomorrow. right on normal for this time of year. a little bit warmer as we go into the weekend. but, yes, the weekend will come with some showers. the weekend forecast is calling for showers to be here on sunday. saturday, you'll see sunshine. and a warm day on saturday. into the low 80s for philadelphia. suburbs, lehigh valley, 70s at

the shore and 81 degrees in delaware but as the day goes on, on sunday, the showers will move into the area. and those showers are coming in from the west. this morning, there are some clouds around and a few sprinkles, too. you can see it now in southern new castle county and cumberland county. and it's cleared out for allentown. with those clearing skies temperatures are still cooling down at this hour. what's ahead. we'll look at the showers and heavy downpours that are moving through the center of the country. nebraska, south dakota into north dakota. that's the storm system that will likely bring us some rain over the weekend. but not today or tomorrow. nice and comfortable. low humidity today and tomorrow. then sunshine and 80s for saturday. into the middle 80s on sunday. won't start with the rain but later in the day, showers and thunderstorms are likely. and that threat of rainfall continues into monday. we really do need it. and we will get some, possibly more than an inch in some areas.

here comes more sunshine and another dry stretch, right on through saturday of next week. it's nine minutes before six right now. we're following that accident on the new jersey turnpike. >> with the flashing lights behind you, fill us in. >> right, this is an accident we've been covering in cherry hill, new jersey, for most of the morning. this is the turnpike now involving two tractor trailers and another vehicle as well. one tractor trailer was just taken from the scene, two vehicles left with a lot of cleanup under way. into the shoulder and grassy area off of the turnpike, this might be here for quite some time. to take off some of this stuff and get it out of the way. it looks like a mangled mess right now. we're seeing one lane getting by. on the southbound side of the turnpike on cherry hill. it's not causing any major, major delays. with that lane still open and not a lot of cars traveling around that area at the exact moment, but it could. we'll keep you updated for now
