>> nbc 10 news starts now. >> right now a winter chill. temperatures are dropping as the winds show no signs of slowing down. let's look at the flags whipping around. this continues our windy weekend weather that toppled trees and downed power lines. a woman had to be rescued after a 40-foot tree fell on her car in east falls sunday. thanks for joining us. i'm denise nakano. we begin with meteorologist erica martin who is tracking this weather. >> temperatures for today were mainly in the 30s and 40s. but those wind speeds and wind gusts made all the difference. top sustained wind speeds at 37 miles per hour at philadelphia international airport. top wind gusts, 46 miles per hour. and the winds are not dying down right now. we're still seeing really strong westerlies and northwesterlies.

charges. drew smith is digging into what happened and has reaction from people in the community. >> reporter: mayor michael cyak is staying quiet on the news of his arrest. there was no answer at his home tonight, though we saw someone turning out the lights. he ended up meeting chester police around 4:00 a.m. friday. >> he was driving that way. >> reporter: jonathan barksdale claims he saw it happen. >> boom! just like that. >> reporter: on this stretch of 22nd street. >> swerving. the card hit the next car and he hit the next one. >> reporter: the mayor is accused of slamming into a parked car and hitting another. he ditched his vehicle and began wandering away. officers eventually found him. >> that's insane that a public figure can do that and just not
have a care in the world. >> reporter: we called the mayor's office and sent him e-mails but did not hear back. the borough council president didn't know anything about it. now citizens do and they want an explanation. >> i'd probably expect a resignation at least and definitely an apology for all the victims and make it right. >> reporter: police released ciach. a pilot is dead after a small plane crashed in the bass river state forest in burlington county. authorities say 75-year-old william lindley left maryland but failed to arrive at ocean county airport that night as scheduled. after attempts to communicate with lindley were unsuccessful, his cell phone was tracked to the area where the plane was found. a flight set to take off from philadelphia international airport sunday was canceled because of an
