we check in with krystal klei. she has the first alert neighborhood weather. >> hi, rosemary. looking at temperatures that don't look terribly bad when you look at the current temperatures. 43 in philadelphia, mount holly, 43. vineland, wilmington, 41. those are actual temperatures. we have winds still this morning and it feels colder out there. 23 the wind chill in mount poke i don no. 37 in philadelphia. 34 what it feels like for atlantic city. when you look at wind chills or feels like conditions, it feels a lot cooler than it actually is and winds today are going to be something you notice throughout your afternoon. current winds are 10 to 15 miles per hour. as you get into the afternoon, you'll see gusts pick up today looking like gusts around 30 to 35 miles per hour for those peak

wind speeds. cloudiness out there to start the morning but we're not tracking rain in the area, don't expect to track rain today. should be a dry saturday. actually it is like a dry weekend. we have changes next work week. we will talk about winds for saturday, temperatures dropping sunday and chances of rain returning on the extended forecast. >> see you soon. this morning, the mother of a 14-year-old boy killed in a robbery attempt is speaking out. she wants someone to come forward to help find her son's killer. nbc10's monique braxton is live at police headquarters with the latest on the investigation. good morning, monique. >> reporter: hi, rosemary. homicide detectives returned to that neighborhood several times looking for surveillance video tapes. they've also been interviewing the 16-year-old who was with ian wilsey. look at the video from the vigil. very emotional vigil. his grieving mother kelly was

among the mourners. the 14-year-old's mother says he was a popular student at northeast high school a block away from where they live. >> they know who they are. i don't see my baby. >> reporter: he was shot in the chest monday night. investigators say he was walking with a friend about ten blocks from his home near roosevelt boulevard. someone tried to rob him. when wilsey ran, the gunman opened fire. investigators have been going door to door in the busy corridor and also say that witnesses tell them two men were seen running from the scene. so far no suspects have been arrested. we're going to be monitoring the investigation. live for now, monique braxton, nbc10 news. new this morning, several

people are out of their homes because of a fire on walnut in west philadelphia around 3:30 this morning. crews put out flames in minutes and fortunately no one was hurt. american red cross is helping the victims. also in philadelphia, a man in the hospital after injured in a house fire in east mount airy. a fire on gilbert street broke out at 6:00 last night. crews had it in control in minutes and later found the man unconscious in the house. later today investigators will be looking for the cause of the fire. this morning police in burlington county tell us they caught a sex assault suspect. he was arrested at his home and faces charges in the attack in camden. they believe he approached a woman in this white van and forced her to a nearby parking lot and attacked her.

wesley is also suspected of other sexual assaults in the area. china is reacting strongly to president-elect donald trump's direct phone conversation with the leader of taiwan. president-elect trump spoke with taiwan's president yesterday. last night he tweeted taiwan's leader called him to congratulate the president-elect on winning the election. china's foreign minister hopes that known call will not interfere with or damage relations with the u.s. he says it was an unusual move to speak with taiwan. the u.s. cut ties in 1979 after the u.s. began to recognize beijing representing both china and taiwan. china still considers the self governed island as a breakaway

province. china said the official response to the call, china says it firmly opposes any official interaction or military cooperation between the u.s. and taiwan. vice president mike pence is sitting down with chuck todd on "meet the press" sunday. this will be a topic in terms of their conversation. "meet the press" at on nbc10 tomorrow morning. in the election recount effort, president-elect trump's lead in pennsylvania igs shrinking. the lead of 71,000 votes over hillary clinton is down to 49,000. yesterday philadelphia finished a recount of votes that didn't differ from the original tally. nbc10 is there where they opened the voting machines, reprinted receipts. jill stein's green party petitioned for a recount after citing concerns with the equipment. >> these machines don't have any way for voters to be sure votes

are counted correctly. a hearing to recount votes for the entire state is set for monday. recount efforts moving to other battleground states. president-elect trump filed a lawsuit to stop the recount in michigan. that's set to start next week. his lawyers called that, quote, a wild goose chase. in wisconsin, a federal court rejected suggests to stop the recount there. they began the recount thursday. trump won the state by about 22,000 votes. seven minutes past 5:00. coming up, a salute to the troops. how santa got help making this holiday delivery. are you ready for winter or not? how one local county is getting ready, stocking up on something they need to combat snowstorms that you will see in coming months.

welcome back. happy saturday morning, everyone. looking at a forecast on the chilly side especially because of the winds we're forecasting. if you look at the planner, 44 degrees at 8:00 a.m. not a bad start, above the 30s. but notice we don't climb much. 48 by afternoon, upper 40s through midday as well with scattered clouds mixing in. it isn't a cloudy day but it is a mix of clouds and sun that we are forecasting throughout. in the suburbs, 41 at 8:00 a.m. 46 by lunch hour. only in the mid 40s at 4:00. then you have the wind chill conditions that feels lower in the afternoon. delaware is 41 degrees, 8:00 a.m. same in new jersey. upper 40s by noon. close to 50 but should be just below it in most spots moving later in the day and the shore

around 50 for the forecast high. the wind forecast. 17 miles per hour for winds in philadelphia. 18 for wilmington, 20 in atlantic city. wind gusts around 35 miles per hour are possible. we are looking at windy conditions, makes it cooler than it is. good news, we stay dry, not for long. a look at the extended forecast. chance for rain returning coming up. we have a little more than two weeks to go before winter begins and montgomery county is getting ready. the county received six deliveries of salt yesterday, that's about 156 tons. crews spent the day loading it all into the salt shed all ready to go. phillies fans can bring in the season with tree lighting at citizens bank park. former phillies manager will be there to meet fans along with phillies broadcasters.

a special prosecutor will not look into misconduct complaint against governor chris christie in the bridge gate scandal. yesterday the judge denied request for special prosecutor and claimed chris christie failed to order them to reopen access lanes at the george washington bridge in 2013. christi wasn't charged in the federal case three aides were found guilty. staying in the garden state, police are trying to reunite owners with stolen merchandise. officers busted a burglary ring, found nearly 100 bikes in the basement of a corner store on broadway. detectives discovered dozens of stolen electronics. they believe a ring of crooks had been stealing and selling merchandise for some time now. if you believe one of the bikes belongs to you, police just want proof like a receipt, serial number, warranty or possibly

sunrise. you can see barely a glow and clouds hanging around, and winds are something we watch for today as well. temperatures to start aren't terrible. looking at philadelphia neighborhoods now. 44 graduate hospital, kensington, also 44 degrees. pretty much consistent, going to 45 and 44 for fox chase. the 40s, but feeling like the 30s. in delaware neighborhoods, the same, although a little lower. right now marshall ton, 41 and wilmington at 42 degrees. we continue the low 40s and upper 30s and that's the same further south. lincoln, 37, lewis beach at 39 degrees for the current temperature. radar and satellite shows you

still have clouds filling in from the north and winds from the northwest. that's a push of stronger winds through the afternoon. as for clouds, it is going to continue a mix of sun and clouds. it will look nice out there, just chilly because of wind. temperature wise staying in the upper 40s for philadelphia, center city, 49. summerton, 49. lansdale, 47. cookstown in the mid 40s for a high of 45 degrees. and we're looking at feels like. can't say this enough. it is deceiving. you think upper 40s. feels like lower 40s, might be a different story this afternoon. 48 in trenton, ocean city, around the shore in the low 50s, and delaware into the low 50s. wilmington high of 50 degrees as well. looking at rain chances, today across the board, reading,

philadelphia, dover, atlantic city, not looking at chances for rain. not likely to see showers. as we move into the next work week, you see an up tick monday for morning showers. tuesday we push up a chance of rain across the board. wednesday some isolated chances remain. into the next work week, an active forecast when it comes to rain potential, although it doesn't look as heavy for as many days as we saw this past week. for the weekend we stay dry, 47 on sunday. little cool down. overnight lows in the 30s consistently. and there's rain chances focused on tuesday. notice a big change by friday. a forecast high temperature of 39. it is not often you want somebody to cut the cheese at your party. for a south jersey community, it is a time-honored tradition. crowds were out for the
