today. dry. we'll get sunshine. but not until after 20 after 7:00. once the sun comes up temperatures will be climbing. 26 degrees in some neighborhoods in the lehigh valley, right at freezing in delaware and philadelphia is 34. suburbs are 33. new jersey just above freezing right now with a westerly wind at 7 miles per hour. that will be increasing some afternoon. 47 degrees in new jersey, at the shore also in the upper 40s. warms to 48 degrees in philadelphia. middle to upper 40s for the lehigh valley and delaware. i'll break these forecasts down hour by hour and show you how quickly we move out of the 30s when i come back in ten minutes. first your first alert traffic with traffic reporter francesca ruscio. >> we're watching road closures on columbus boulevard. at 95 and washington because of a water main break. folks columbus boulevard.
we'll watch 95 for quite some time. 95 at caster avenue, travel speeds are in the 60s. this picture will change in a matter of a couple of hours as we approach the heart of rush hour. 95 is doing pretty good. we'll be watching 422. travel speeds still in the green. no reported problems or delays. 60s and 70s not that bad, shorter travel time. seven minutes westbound. back to you. turning now to breaking news from montgomery county this morning. one person is dead after fire breaks out overnight in an apartment. nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene in pottstown. matt, you just talked to someone who escaped those flames. tell us more. >> reporter: he said it was a scary morning as several people escaped this fire. one did not. you can see the fire trucks are still here at the scene. the fire is out. it has been for a couple of hours. there doesn't appear to be a lot of damage to the outside of the
building. lot of the damage is on the inside, second and third floors. we're on east high street by north franklin street here in pottstown. take a look at some video. this fire started a little after 1:15. firefighters saw heavy fire on the second floor this building and when the call came in there was a report of someone trapped inside and a person was found dead inside one of the rooms on the second floor. residents tell me the victim is a man. the others in the building did evacuate safely. i spoke to one of them a few minutes ago. listen to his account of what happened. >> opened the window because it was hot and smelled a whole bunch of smoke, seen a bunch of flashing lights and then girlfriend went into our bathroom and just started coming up with smoke and it was crazy. got the little ones out. rushed out of there as fast as possible. >> reporter: the red cross is helping carlos, his family and
the other residents here. several apartments in this building were damaged. carlos tells me there were six or seven units inside this building. the fact this was an older building made it tough to fight this fire. but it is out. now the investigation begins into what happened, what start this. live in pottstown, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. we have another update in the berlin christmas market attack. just moments ago italy's interior minister said the man killed in the shoot out in mylan is without a shadow of doubt, an sic -- an its anis amri. amri pulled a gun from his backpack after being asked to show i.d.. we just got new video that aleppo a day after government force took control away from rebel forces. syrian army troops are walking amid the heavily damaged
building there's. the troops waved the syrian flag, waved signs ever victory. the syrian government took full control yesterday after the last opposition fight and civilians were bussed out of aleppo. the interior department says the director of northeastern national park who is based here in philadelphia broke federal travel guidelines on at least eight trips. michael caldwell took personal trips at the government's expense and took pay on days he wasn't work. a park service spoens person said calendar is temporarily reassigned while the department considers possible discipline. 5:35. new this morning. two men are on the run after a bloody home invasion. police say it sounds like it wasn't the only they were trying to hit. just before midnight two men knocked on the front door of a kensington apartment. they forced their way in after the woman opened the door. they fought with her and then shot her. they left without taking anything. they seemed to be looking for
someone specific. the woman who was shot was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. police say the woman's room and her young son were in another room and not hurt. police are still looking for the gunman. >> 5:36 and 31 degrees 34 degrees outside. happening now last minute shopping. we all know you're out there. waiting to get those last minute gifts. lucky for you stores are still open today and tomorrow. kohl's is open 24 hours until christmas day. >> if you're not traveling or shopping maybe you're getting ready for your holiday meal. you're taking a look at the conshohocken bakery. the bakery opens at 7:00 this morning and close at 5:00 p.m. the eagles finally get their divisional win of the year taking down the new york giants
on primetime right on nbc 10 last night. >> it was sweet. the win didn't mean a lot to birds in terms of standings but it's a big deal to play spoiler. one of the big story lines is johnson coming back and you can tell the difference right away last night. we talked about this early on because the season would have gone differently if he was on the field the whole time? >> reporter: i was watching the game thinking oh, i wonder what the season would have been if he had here. he had to safer ten game suspension. eagles this season are 4-1 with lane johnson starting at right tackle. a lot of people argue they were facing some, not so great competition earlier in the season when he was in. argue what you may. i still think that lane johnson being out for majority of the season had a huge impact on the game. you can see it right away. take a look at this running play by matthews.
i am one of those people, guys, but a lot of people say it's not necessarily about one person on the offensive line. if you who are dining well they have good offensive lines you get mixed opinions about that one. but i'm in the camp of lane johnson makes a big difference. >> let's switch gears and talk about a scary moment last night for eagles fans. carson wentz took a big hit. goes through the mandatory nfl concussion protocol. what happened? >> reporter: this was a scary moment. one of those things you want to finish the season strong. they are not in the playoffs. you don't want your starting quarterback, rookie quarterback to get hurt. this is in the third quarter. 3rd and long situation. carson wentz taken down. he gets up. the second he does heles a little bit. jason peters is there. he lieeans on peters. peters called the eagles medical staff over and when carson wentz had to get taken off the field. he went to the sidelines.
he was checked for a concussion. daniel came in at the helm for couple of minutes. carson wentz was cleared to come back out and play. that's what happened. a couple of plays of him back in the field the eagles are running a trick play and carson wentz are the lead blocker. fans are losing their minds. the good news he's okay. he did pass the concussion protocol test so, hey, we'll take it and take the win and take the spoil for the giants that's for sure. >> thanks so much. >> see you guys. >> next week is the season finale for the eagles. it's a big one. they take onto dallas cowboys right here new year's day. kick off is at 1:00. coming up at 20 minutes before 6:00 and we're looking at temperatures that are in the 30s for most neighborhoods this morning with clear skies. this number could come down a little bit more but right back up to 34 at 8:00. then into the 40s by lurch time,
43 degrees with a little bit of a breeze this afternoon. not as windy as yesterday. sunshine, also not as warm as yesterday. 40s today with clouds coming in late this afternoon. the suburbs pretty nice one here, 32 degrees right now. up to 37 degrees at 10:00. sunshine. few clouds blow through the area this afternoon. completely dry for the suburbs and lehigh valley. some of the neighborhoods in the lehigh valley have dropped into the 20s but warm through the 30s into the low 40s this afternoon. new jersey sees the sun coming up, temperatures will start coming up. upper by later this morning and then 40s this afternoon. lots of sunshine until the very late afternoon hours and that's when the clouds will start moving in. at the shore sunshine will warm temperatures that are already above freezing. into this morning. middle 40s at 2:00 afternoon. like the rest of the area the clouds are increasing late this afternoon. colder in delaware than southeast other neighborhoods.
32 degrees right now and down to 8:00 temperature of 31 degrees. in the 40s this afternoon. 45 degrees tonight. rebounds this afternoon. just like the rest of the area here comes some clouds. those clouds are coming off a storm that's nowhere near us yet but making steady progress. it was in l.a., arizona, new mexico yesterday now moving into iowa and missouri and the clouds extend into the ohio valley. that's due in for tomorrow. take a look at that, hour by hour show you when that moves in and moves out too. look at the holiday weekend forecast when i'm back in ten. 5:41. let's check the roads if you're getting ready to head out. let's with schuylkill freeway with francesca ruscio. how is it looking on 76? >> we're starting to see more volume adding onto majors especially the schuylkill expressway, of course our camera at belmont avenue, eastbound, westbound travel speeds in the 50s and 60s. still doing okay at the
schuylkill. now, folks, we have a water main break on columbus boulevard. we're closed specifically on the southbound side at i-95 and washington avenue. expect delays but i would avoid that portion of bus boulevard as of right now. crews are still on scene working to clear everything up. we also have an accident that came into my penndot report. at north line street and east 5th street. no delays. schuylkill looks good. 95 not that bad. when i come back we'll look at the vine street expressway. sift through charred ruble in new jersey. coming up next what we're learning about the cause. help is stimulused. salvation army is sounding the alarm. next hear how you can help families across area this christmas and beyond.

ends on christmas day by giving only $21 you can help feed a family for three days. proposed from the campaign provide year round services to local residents in need of food, shelter, disaster relief and after school programs for kids. all right, meteorologist bill henley is joining us here. give us the details. what can we expect? >> today will be just fine. get out do what you need to do if you're going to school it will be dry. looking for a snow day but not happening today. no snow in the near future. some wet weather ahead for parts of the weekend. heading out right now our skies are clear. little bit of a shake in the camera. little bit of a breeze mainly above building level. winds are light at the surface. we'll see sunshine and a dry day today. any scattered clouds will blow through without wet weather. that changes tomorrow. clouds will be arriving this evening. we'll stay dry this evening but first thing tomorrow morning and for much of the day tomorrow
umbrellas will be going up. right now temperatures are coming down. seeing 20s in the lehigh valley and south jersey. delaware is at 32 and 34 degrees in the city and some cooler suburbs. right now 31 degrees. collegeville is 27 degrees. look at fort washington at 24 this morning and in the 20s for new hope while newtown is at 34 degrees. sunshine, yes. we'll see it at the bus stop this morning. right around freezing or just a little bit below for quakertown and reading right at the freezing mark at 8:00 and wilmington. this is when the temperatures will just be starting to climb in atlantic city, 36 trees and the winds will being light at 8:00. enough sunshine during the day today to warm into the 40s this afternoon. this is the radar and satellite. nothing here yet. you don't have to look far to see the clouds and then the wet weather. that's snow and rain missouri and into iowa heading towards
the midwest. that will come to us with a warm up. there's warm air that will surge ahead and that's going to ensure we'll get rain as this one moves in. the clouds tart to arrive late this afternoon. at 7:30 this evening. clouds increasing during the evening hours and then first rain drops early tomorrow morning at 3:00. that first line is going to be very light. just a tiny bit of rain. steadier rain moves in at 6:00 in the morning. yes those are some snow showers in the northern central portions of pennsylvania. but most of this is going be below the pocono mountains, reading philadelphia, cape may getting rain. that's at 10:00 in the morning. the rain continues in the afternoon. but by late in the afternoon it's out and by evening we are dry. so the weekend is going to be damp for saturday but look at the sunshine for sunday. christmas day, temperatures climbing to near 50 degrees in the afternoon. so, dry day, 48 degrees that
