now. from nbc news world's headquarters in new york. this is nbc's "nightly news" with kate snow. good evening, hope you are having a nice christmas, i am peter alexander in for kate snow. it is a dangerous brew severe weather from the dakotas to freezing rain in parts of new york and pennsylvania. one family has a surviving story to tell after getting trapped in the snow and car near the grand canyon. steve patterson is tracking that fierce storm tonight. >> reporter: a winter weather punch with storms system making a mess on the road. in eastern north dakota, blowing nosnow blanketing the region and causing dozens of spin out and accidents
