street. they showed the passenger getting out of the van and then the vehicle accelerates and hits the victim. the van speeds off and the passenger walks away. >> it's a clear picture of the individual. somebody recognizes that person, e we need to talk to the driver. they need to do the right thing here and turn yourself in. >> if you can help police, give them a call. new details on a man shot by police at a mall garage. he's now facing 19 charges including robbery, illegal weapons and counterfeiting. police also say the same man was responsible for two carjackings in delaware last week. nbc 10 spoke to a victim of one of those carjackings the day it happened. you can watch that interview right now on the nbc 10 app.

right now, social media companies are talking to congress about russian activity during the 2016 election. this is a live look at representatives from facebook, twitter and google meeting with the senate judiciary committee. a group posted more than 80,000 times on its service during and after the election. >> that foreign actors hiding behind fake accounts abused our platform and other internet services to try to sew division and discourse. and to try to undermine the election is directly contrary to our values and goes against everything facebook stands for. >> twitter says it uncovered and shut down close to 3,000 accounts linked to the same group. meanwhile the president is trying to distance himself from george papadopoulos. >> the trump campaign adviser admitted to lying about meeting with fed's. few people knew the young low level volunteer named george, who has already proven to be a

liar. check the dems. he pled guilty weeks ago. his arrest kept quiet for months while he cooperated with federal agents. the charges were sealed to avoid discouraging others from cooperating with the investigation or destroying evidence. court. papers on monday reveal issed an indictment against paul manaf t manafort. he steered the campaign for much of last year and accused of funneling payments as part of his plolitical work in ukraine. >> manafort and his business associate are both now under house arrest. neither is charge d with any wrong doing as part of the trump campaign. both men have pleaded not guilty. some members of congress say they were not surprised by the indictments. >> i don't think the indictments were a surprise to any of us that have been involved in the investigation for nine months. >> i do believe that the special

counsel is supportive as i have ever seen in my time in the congre congress. >> there are hints that more people could face charges in connection with the investigation. stabbing in south jersey. police identified the victim as 45-year-old gary carter of salem. he was beaten and stabbed last night. a 31-year-old is now charged with murder. investigators say he hit carter's body in the closet and tried to clean up the blood in the apartment. close iing arguments could start tomorrow in the trial of senator bob menendez. right now attorneys are arguing over what legal instructions the jury will hear from the judge. and this is important because the u.s. supreme court changed the definition of broib ri last year. he's charge d with taking gifts from a florida donor in exchange for political help. two military agents are testifying in the trial of army sergeant beau bergdahl. he helped them better understand and provided a gold mine of information after he was returned in a prisoner swap.

the agents were called to testify in a sentencing hearing. he pleaded guilty to desertion for walking off his post in afghanistan in 2009. he faces life in prison. new information today about a two women who say they were stranded on their sailboat for five months in the pacific ocean. while they were missing, the women never activated their emergency beacon. the reason they didn't feel like they were in any danger. the pair also said a tropical storm set them off course. according to the national weather service, there were no storms in the region. lieutenant colonel was sworn in today. he also worked in the state's office of emergency management. callahan replaces who retired after 14 years on the job. this afternoon a new poll in the new jersey governor's race shows democrats leading by 16

points over republican. the "usa today" shows 49% of voters support murphy while 33% back kim. the lead slunk by a few points from last month's poll. today getting a firsthand look on what it's like to live in poverty in philadelphia. the exercise had people going from a grocery store to the banks and other places so they can see the challenges you can face if living under the poverty line. philadelphia has the highest poverty rates of the ten largest cities in the country. in philadelphia today, helping create a pipeline between the i.t. industry and jobs right here in the city. the governor met with e employees and apprentices from the urban technology project today. the program works to highlight the importance of workforce training and job creation in philadelphia.

new information about the breaking news out of new york city. that's where police say multiple people are dead now and others hurt after an incident in lower manhattan. >> let's go to keith jones live had in our breaking news center. >> we just found out that a suspect is in custody. that person either fired a bb gun or paintball gun into a crowd of people. i want to get to these images. police say the suspect at some point jumped in a truck, sped away down a bike lane where you can see all the bicycles mangled. e he hit at least five people, at least two of them are dead. take a look at these brand new pictures showing smashed up bikes. the suspect arrested just a short time ago. you can see this is just north of one world trade center along the hudson. a scenic place to walk. especially this time of day. just brisk weather. these images, this is a short

the area. this one is the one that's going to usher in perhaps some sprinkle joefrs night. what we're really focusing on is a system that's coming out of right now it looks like maybe the lower midwest and central plains and that's going to pass the area tomorrow bringing us a chance of showers as well. into early on thursday. let's break it down. the system just swoops by and maybe we have a few sprinkles. we dive down. clouds move in. the winds are still coming in out of the northeast. here come a few showers. a lot of that will be north and west of the city. and the same on thursday. look at thursday. we make it to 71 degrees. we do the same on friday. friday we start with some cloud cover. i think we get rid of the cloud cover as the day wears on. another pretty nice day on friday. then we're going to be watching two systems. one for friday night into saturday and another one that's going to be coming in here for sunday to possibly bring some rain to the eagles game. so for tonight, we're looking at

now from that scene. you can see police cars and officers surrounding the area. there's a smashed up pickup truck right there you see in the front. it's in the middle of it all. the suspect jumped in that truck, sped down a bike lane, killing six people and hurting at least 15. all of the victims died from the truck plowing into the crowd. e we learned not from the gunshots. the suspect was arrested a short distance away from the scene. this is no longer an ongoing threat. if we can leave these images up, something i just learned, there was school in session at the time, which pretty much borders this street where it happened. school children reportedly were outside at the time. and went running. we have also just learned the fbi terrorism task force has just joined that investigation. there's going to be a briefing at 5:15. we're going to bring that o to you live here on nbc 10 and our nbc 10 app. the mayor of new york city is on the way, governor kwcuomo is al

continuing to follow breaking news out of lower manhattan. 6 are dead, 15 injured after someone fired shots in a crowd. >> harry hairston is there near the scene. he's joining us now by phone. what can you tell us? >> i can tell you right now i'm a block away from where the pickup truck was. i want to take you right to more brand new video that we're getting in right now. this comes from the scene.

through the crowd. >> they do have the bomb-sniffing dogs in the area. we look at state police on the scene as well. although this is not an ongoing threat. this area is saturated with police. >> you can imagine how this reopens a wound for anyone innen manhattan. the proximity to ground zero. we see numerous police officers descending on the scene. the joint terrorism task force being briefed. just describe for us more of what you are seeing in terms of the police presence right there, right now. >> it is a very heavy police

presence. as you say, we were working about a ten-minute walk down the street from here when. you can imagine the panic on their faces just wondering is this something more than just a typicalen accident of some sort. and the fear was that it was something intentional. we're seeing more police officers still coming to this area as well. state police, fbi, atf, and a a slew of other undercover police officials in their typical dark unmarked vehicles, all lights flashing and sirens as well. so although they are saying that this is something that is no

longer a threat, one might not think that when you look up and down west street and you go one to two blocks either side. there's a great deal of police presence here. >> i know that portion of west street was completely revitalized and it is a popular place for runners and bikers. you see lots of people out there taking advantage of that view along the hudson river. so we know that this vehicle plowed into many of those bikers and potentially runners, pedestrians as well. we have seen reports of numerous bodies there on the ground. as investigators want to take a look at what was this person's motivation. we know the joint terrorism task force is joining this investigation. we'll hear more from apparent bly the mayor and police commissioner. they will be conducting a briefing at the police headquarters coming up in about

half hour. >> i believe the mayor just showed up here at west and is morris street. he's gotten out of his vehicle for just a moment. it appears as though he's being briefed and headed back towards his vehicle as well. so i don't know what kind of information he's getting at this moment, but it appears as though they are doing a preparation and briefing the mayor so he can make some type of announcement coming up shortly, we hope, with more information. >> we're hearing within a half hour. harry hairston live on the scene for us in lower manhattan. we will continue to keep an eye on events out of new york. in the meantime, take a look at this video out of new hampshire. storm waters ripped this house from its foundation. smash ed that right into that bridge there. nearby residents watched as they home was just e destroyed and sucked right into the current.

incident in lower manhattan. >> take a look at this video. this is from the scene. you can see police cars there and officers milling about. addition to that pickup truck, police say the suspect jumped in the truck, sped down a bike lane. that's what you're looking at there with five or six mangled bikes killing six people and hurting 15 others. all of the victims died from the truck plowing, not from the gunshots. they are reporting currently that he might have turned that bb gun or paint gun toward a school bus that was there. there's a school there and children were outside at the

six people are dead, 15 hurt when a truck driver deliberately plowed into people in manhattan. we can tell you now at this time officials in new york city say this is being investigated as a possible terror attack. let's get straight to dra clark who reported in new york city for four years. >> he's following the breaking developments. >> the fbi is is now investigating this as a possible terror attack. in fact, we just learned according to eyewitnesss on the ground that suspect yelled akbar when he jumped out of his truck before hitting those individuals. this appears to show that suspect running loose in the city here just before his arrest. a look. a student shot this video just as he was about to leave his high school. he heard all of the commotion and gunfire and recorded this

video of the apparent attacker holding what looks like a gun in his hand. that suspect is now in custody. and sources tell our sister station in new york this was, in fact, intentional. we know the suspect wassing either a bb gun or paintball gun and drove a truck the wrong way into a bike path killing at least people. now the suspect was arrested a distance away from the scene. this is no longer an ongoing  threat. here now is a live look from the scene in the city's tribeca neighborhood right thousand with police surrounding. you can see the pickup truck right there in the middle of the scene. also surrounded by a number of police. there will be a briefing in about 15 minutes or so. we will bring live in the breaking news center, nbc 10 news. >>
