school not been on lockdown that would be a shooting far worst. >> that's our top story. the investigation into another mass shooting. in northern california. a gunman killing at least four people injuring ten others before he was killed by police. one of the shooter's multiple targets was an elementary school. steve patterson has the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, craig, salve that. officials recovered a semiautomatic rifle and two handguns all in an incident they're calling a bizarre and murderous rampage. early tuesday morning, a gunman opened fire in several different locations throughout the rancho tahema reserve. the gunman was identified as kevin neal to kcra. >> this man was on a killing rampage. he was driving up and down the street shooting at passersbies

and residences. >> reporter: authorities say an earlier dispute between the suspect and a neighbor turned deadly. >> in january of this year he was arrested and charged with an assault with a deadly that person. that is a deceased victim. >> reporter: it appears that neal shot a second person at that location before going on what is described as a random killing spree. a mother and her kids were in this truck on their way to school when he fired shots, hitting the woman and one of her children. he went to the elementary school going through the locked gate before firing dozens of shots into classrooms from outside the building. 6-year-old alejandro hernandez was shot in the foot and chest. >> he's tiny. he's in first grade. why would somebody go for the kids? why would somebody go to the school and do that? what kind of person does that?

you know? >> reporter: police say a quick decision to put the school on lockdown likely saved many lives. neal returned to the road crashing into cars randomly shooting at people and eventually stealing a vehicle. when he was chasing the car and shooting the driver police rammed the vehicle. 45 minutes after it started, the gunman was dead shot in a standoff with police. investigators now working to build a better profneal all in an attempt to find some semblance of a motive here. they believe most of the targets including that school were chosen at random. >> steve patterson, starting us off. thank you. there's a lot to get to this morning, including embattled u.s. senate candidate roy moore. he kochbltcontinues to dig in his heels. the republican talked about the scandal at a late-night event. nbc's gabe gutierrez has more on that. good morning. >> reporter: craig, good

morning. the republican national committee is cutting off the moore campaign. no more field operations and more importantly, no more money. in a bizarre twist, jeff session's name is coming up as a replacement. but the moore campaign is not backing down. overnight, roy moore taking center stage in a packed church in jackson, alabama, as defiant as ever. >> why do you think i'm being harassed by media and by people pushing for allegations in the last 28 days of this election. >> reporter: this morning the senate candidate is facing a new deadline deadline from fox news host, shawn honean hannity, who now has questions. >> for me the judge has 24 hours. you must immediately and fully come up with a satisfactory explanation for your inconsistencies. you must remove any doubt. if you can't do this judge moore needs to get out of this race. >> reporter: moore flatly denies

21st century. >> reporter: a congressional hearing is focused on how sexual harassment is investigated. crossing party lines and reaching the highest levels. >> in fact there are two members of congress republican and democrat right now, who serve, who have been subject to review or not have been subject to review but have engaged in sexual harassment. >> reporter: barbara comestock, talking about a current member of congress left unnamed. >> this member asked a staffer to bring materials the over to their residence. and the young staffer, it was a young woman, went there and was greeted by a member in a towel. it was a male who invited her in. at that point, he decided to expose himself. >> reporter: missouri senator claire mccaskill sharing her own experience as a congressional intern in the '70s. >> back when i was an intern i

above freezing but it still feels very cold this morning. temperatures later today will warm up into the low 50s. you see right now we actually have sunshine across the region. but by tonight, clouds start to build in. and overnight, we will have breaking news this morning in atlantic county. schools are closed and police are warning people to stay inside as officers search for four juvenile inmates who escaped the detention center in egg harbor city. police say the teens attacked a guard at harborfield detention center crashed a stolen car, and got away. new surveillance video shows the chase and crash. another clip shows the four juveniles running away in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. police have been combing the neighborhood with k-9s since midnight. they say this is a dangerous situation. they want people to stay inside if they can. and authorities are worried about school safety so here's a list of the closed schoolsed now. nbc10's randy gyllenhaal is giving us updates at the scene and will bring them as soon as we get them on air and on our

lodged in the nose of the plane, all the way to the gate. today, november 15th, 2017. sometimes you're the windshield. sometimes you're the bug. >> the bird. now, to aearch for a man who escaped from a hawaii. one man says he fits the profile of a serial killer. not guilty by reason of insanity walked out of the hawaii state hospital on sunday. he caught a taxi and flew to san jose california, before authorities in hawaii were alerted he escaped. now, u.s. marshals are trying to figure out where he is now. this morning a manhunt is under way for a psychiatric patient described as extremely dangerous. the man, walking out of a psychiatric hospital outside of honolulu and fleeing to california after being committed for more than 30 years. new video overnight, confirmed a
