dangerous cutbacks and unehthical behavior -- compromising veterans care. care. nine on your side i-team investigator jason law is live at the v-a... with the renewed calls for action. senators rob portman and sherrod brown said they're writing letters to the inspector general's office, asking for a thorough and complete investigation into cincinnati's va hospital. cutting costs and some say cutting corners. 34 whistleblowers say there are problems inside in the cincinnati va hospital, and it's putting people at risk. very troubling allegations." allegations." senator rob portman has conducted veteran town hall meetings all over the state. he thought the va had made improvements within their system, but a joint scripps news washington bureau and wcpo investigation exposed troubling conditions behind the scenes. if the allegations are accurate, in terms of some of the activity in cincinnati goes to ethical issues and moral issues as to some of the procedures and practices. we need to get to the bottom of it. we need to find out if those allegations are accurate or not, and the situation

va workers told wcpo the hospitals acting chief of staff-dr. barbara temeck-- began cutting services two and a half years ago. the hospital lost its only neurosurgeon along with several's seasoned specialists who did complex joint replacement surgeries for hips knees and shoulders. shoulders. "many services are being devastate and are incapable of functions." then there's the increase of drug resistant mrsa infections, and a lack of cleanliness with surgery equipment. equipment. "i've seen surgical instruments that once we open that steril pack they will have pieces of debris from previous surgeries - still on the instrumentation." instrumentation." veterans affairs has already launched an investigation, as has the inspector generals office. senator sherrod brown sits on the committee on veterans' affairs. we spoke with the senator over the phone wednesday. "i'm very concerned about what happened in cincinnati. i

have spoken up. i think [w]cpo has done a really good job in helping to unearth a lot of this and there's just no excuse for not taking care of our veterans." we don't know if there will be a shake up inside the hospital.the va has not said what dr. temeck's status will be while these investigations are underway. jason law 9 on your side. tonight -- formal charges for the woman accused of hitting a child with her car in west price hill... then driving off. ruby estepp has been indicted on failure to stop after a crash -- and driving on a suspended license.officers arrested her the night of the crime.she was released -- and didn't show up to court the next day. he was doing what so many of us do every day... driving home from work.but jose arenas' morning commute was deadly... and new at six we're hearing from coworkers -- who are overcome with sadness. he was hit head-on by a *wrong way driver* on i-71 near the dana avenue exit.tonight -- taryn chin is accused of

police believe drugs or alcohol could be behind this crash.she was driving north in the southbound lanes when she hit arenas head on. and tonight -- it is a sad day for those who worked with arenas at "cintas".nine on your side's ashley zilka spoke to one of them.ashley? jose arenas started working at cintas 20 years ago. tonight- the company is mourning the loss of not only their co worker but also their friend. we are told the 47 year old spoke both english and spanish and would help other employees who had a hard time translating. a spokesperson for the company, michelle goret, says arenas had a strong work ethic and always had a great attitude around everyone. he worked at the ridge road branch for most of his time at cintas. most recently, he transferred to the erlanger operation. his wife also works at the company and has been there for 5 years. arenas shift ended early this morning. he was on his way home from work when he was killed.

tonight say the pills found in her car last month were percocet . . that may explain why wells hasn't been on the air for several weeks. she was charged with four counts of drug possession last month after a traffic stop on i-75 north of dayton. 700 wlw's bill cunningham expressed sympathy for her on the air today. we have new video of that car that went into a house in delhi township. police say a woman in her 60-s apparently had a medical condition... lost control... and slammed into a house on tahoe terrace. inside the house... the damage is damage is extensive. you can see how badly everything is torn up. the homeowner just barely escaped being hit by the car before impact. "i kinda see it coming ou know and its nt stopping and then its into the house and now i realize i've got to get away from it, backing up trying to get away from the car. the driver of the car suffered minor injuries. she was taken to the hosptial to be checked.. and for medical observation. researchers say ohio's sales tax holiday last summer was *worth it*... for both shoppers and the state.

a start up production company is going international with a new music video project from across the pond. pond.the song is by an up and coming british singer who our scott wegener tells us was attracted to a unique style that she could only find here. it's a heavily choreographed and complicated music video winding through the hallways of an abandoned factory in fairfield."i made like a map to kind of help with the
