good afternoon. police say she called 9-1-1 and confessed to killing her 2-year-old son, then refused to drop a butcher knife when they arrived at her door. in just a feur sheboygan mother charged with murder will make her first court appearence. cbs 58's lindsey branwall joins us live at the sheboygan county courthouse with more on our top story at noon. that's right mike. on the phone with 911, the 27-year-old mother she tells the operator she strangeled her son. dispatcher her son was dead for a half an hour, and she felt like she was losing her mind. this all happened last thursday.sheboygan falls police say she was armed with a butcher knife when police arrived. we are waiting on autopsy results to determine whether the child did die of strangulationpolice have held off on releasing the woman's identity -- but that information will be public when the mother is charged. she will make her appearance at 1:30. we'll update you with the latest on at 4 and 5. reporting live lindsey branwall a milwaukee woman recorded on dash cam video knocking down two sheriff's deputies and her own mother while bolting from a traffic stop has reached a settlement in her criminal case. kevina freeman is charged with 5 felonies including recklessly endangering safety following the roadside incident on the

the settlement reached in court this morning have not been released, but a plea hearing is scheduled for august 26th. a man is dead and a 13-year-old boy seriously injured following a double shooting in milwaukee. police were called to 4th and chambers shortly after 9 last night. 29-year-old carnelle adkins was pronounced dead at the scene..the teenager is in the hospital. initial reports indicate the shooting may have stemmed from a fight earlier in the day. no arrests have been made. and no one's in custody in connection with a shooting near 26th and wright. one person was taken to the hospital after being shot in the chest. there's no word yet on what sparked this shooting. a couple of men canoing in northern wisconsin stumbled upon what at first glance appeared to be a gruesome find. turns out, their discovery made one man very happy, but also may have left behind one 'angry beaver.' cbs 58's julie parise is in the newsroom with more on this unusual story of lost and

it turned out to be a funny fishing trip find for two guys from germantown. they pulled a prosthetic leg out of a beaver dam -- and thanks to the internet -- this story has a happy ending. nats - fishing when elliott fuller and friend jason franklin were canoing over the weekend, they were stunned to see what looked like a human foot sticking out of a beaver dam. sot - elliot "i was pretty terrified to be honest with ya.we t hought we found a dead body." but as they got surprised to see what it really was. sot - elliot "we were relieved, but it ended up being even more surprising what we found, ya know?" elliot and jason then checked craigslist and found this ad - a man from green bay had lost the prosthetic just a few days earlier, just a few miles from where the guys had been fishing. the two reached to him and were able to reunite the lost leg with its owner. elliot says - he feels good that he was able to make someone's day - and it left him with a great a story: "oh

sure. it's gonna start with "want to hear about that time your dad and jason found someone's leg in a beaver dam?" the man who lost the prosthetic told the guys that it was his spare - one that he uses just for fishing and boating.he said when he lost it - he'd never thought he'd see it again. live in the newsroom, jp cbs 58 delta airlines customers still feeling the a glitch that grounded flights and stranded 'hundreds of thousands' of passengers this morning. take a look at the lines at the delta counter at general mitchell internationanl airport. delta says the system is back up now, but it's still slow going. at least 300 flights were cancelled by a 'global computer system outage' that lasted 6 hours. one family told us they're bracing for a long day. "they only have limited flights from atlanta to north

that driver is ?not? facing charges in the accident. accident. the family has set up a "gofund me account" to help pay for her funeral expenses. you can find a link on our website cbs 58 dot com. take a look at this crash. just after midnight a car went up the embankment at 91st and fond du lac. injuries were minor and no one was taken to the hospital. the driver... who police say left the scene... returned and was cited for a traffic violation. they say several other people involved were uncooperative and also ticketed. local high school football, soccer and other athletes are returning to the practice field this week ahead of the upcoming school year. while there's a growing emphasis on ways to prevent concussions...also important is how to best treat young people who've already experienced a traumatic brain injury. cbs 58's kyle averman joins us live from children's hospital with the results of a concussion study...kyle?

working on this study for nearly 2 years. and the results could change the way concussion patients are treated. it's long been thought that activity after concussion can make symptoms worse.dr thomas says the team of doctors involved in the study looked at symptom spikes, which are an increase in your symptoms from day one to day two. they found about one third of patients had some sort of spikes and didn't get better immediately. . however, the majority of those did not have an increase in physical activity that would cause their spikes.at the same time activities like returning back to school did increase symptoms. dr. thomas says that means some activity may be good. but the most important thing is to prevent a second concussion while recovering. dr danny thomas/ author of study"i think it's really still important to recognize that while we are saying it is ok to go back to school and some light activity, it is absolutely vital not to go back to sports and collision sports, or any high-risk activities like rock climbing or roller coaster riding, until you were truly fully

dangerous if you go back to soon"16 secs dr. thomas says it can take up to 10 days for concussion patients to fully recover. now that the kenosha dream playground is on track for repas, the city is signaling a resolution in the legal action against the original contractor. the handicapped accessible playground built by the community at petzke park has been closed since march due to issues with the flooring. tonight the city of kenosha public works committee is expected to discuss in closed session a possible legal settlement with "magill construction." according to city documents--- the elkhorn-based company would pay the city 160-thousand dollars. the city council still has to approve the settlement. it's already approved money to fix the floor with another contractor. taxes in waukesha could go up if the school board approves a new budget. according to the waueksha freeman... school officials blame increasing

enrollment. if approved... taxpayers would see a 2 dollar increase on a 200-thousand dollar home. tonight the "finance and facilities committe" is set to discuss the spending plan at their 5:30 meeting. the budget still has to be approved by the school board. a hearing is now scheduled for september 14th. it's a 'back to school' monday for mps students enrolled in 10 year-round schools.children on this schedule have a longer fall, winter and spring breaks. students spend the same number of days in school as those on the traditional schedule. there's a new festival coming to our area this fall. the inaugural chinese lantern festival will be held in october at boerner botanical gardens.it will be a celebration of asian culture featuring 40 larger-than-life sculptural lantern displays...from a three-foot baby panda to a three-story chinese palace pagoda. there

a kansas water park is closed as investigators try to learn how a 10-year- old boy died on what is billed as the world's tallest water slide. caleb schwab was the son of kansas state representative scott schwab. the family was visiting the water park yesterday. officials still haven't said how the child died but witnesses say they saw his body lying on the ground. workers are building a stone wall around a walt disney world lake where an alligator killed a toddler earlier this summer.disney officials say the barrier wall is part of the new security plan following the death of 2-year-old lane graves. the boulder wall is going up along the beaches of the seven seas lagoon where several resorts are located. protests expected to continue in chicago today. people are angry about the police department's handling of the latest ?police shooting caught on tape.?

call for justice for paul o'neal and others othersmore than a hundred people spent the weekend holding a ?sit-in and rally? at millennium park. this after chicago police released ?body cam video? last week showing the police response as a black teen "paul o'neal" ran from officers. none of the cameras recorded the fatal shot. the chicago "police superentendant" has said the department is looking at how it might ?re-train officers? in the wake of the o'neal shooting. to the summer olympics now where the u-s leads the medal count with an even including three gold medals. ben tracy is in rio with highlights of the events where
