until fall 2016a new zipper merge is also in place between national and greenfield ave as well. drivers we begin with a cbs 58 exclusive. a local pharmacy is repeatedly hit by thieves breaking in in the middle of the night -- to steal pain killers. police say a 20-year-old man is in custody after the string of break-ins. ins.then this morning -- greenfield police tell us they are investigating the latest burglary -- this time at a different pharmacy location. location.w is talking about it. cbs 58's julie parise joins us in the newsroom with this exclusive story. julie? we're talking about the hayat pharmacy the chain has been hit 16 times at different locations.one of the latest was at 84th and capital -- just the other day. this surveillance video shows a pair of men ripping down shatterporoof glass to get inside. they are looking for

street value. back in february, owners installed bulletproof glass and steel doors to keep out the thieves. they believed those investments were working - until the suspects struck again. in the past they came during the day and it was armed robberies during the day....now they are coming int he middle of the night they are finding the oxy codine is int he safe so theyre going straight to to the promethazine with codeine shelf" shelf." just a few hours ago, police responded to a break in at the hayat pharmacy's 27th street location. they tell us they have persons of interest in that case. meanwhile the owners at the 85th adn capital location say -- when all is said and done -- these break ins will cost them around 30 thousand dollars.kyle? 3 a wild police chase is caught on video... and now the driver is facing several felony charges. wauwatosa police say lucas byrd took this 'chevy lina' from his son without permission. dash cam video

car.. with it reaching speeds close to 100-miles ahour. at one point.. the car takes a shortcut through someone's lawn.a little later... it ends up on a sidewalk near 107th and hampton..the car eventually hits a street sign.. and byrd jumps out and runs off.. but police were able to catch him. 3 a milwaukee mcdonald's restaurant is forced to close its doors after a health inspector finds evidence of rodents.the mayor's office says the owner mcdonalds at 35th and juneau cleaned up the evidence. however- the fast food restaurant is still closed. the health inspector is expected to re-visit the mcdonalds this morning to see if the restaurant iclean enough to re-open. downtown wauwatosa is in the middle of a massive construction project. some say it's taking a major toll on local businesses...but that depends on who you ask.... the 20 million dollar prect is taking place to revitalize "tosa village".the construction manager says

in the middle of a new controversy... creating more questions about her trustworthiness.the associated press reports- more than half the people from outside the u-s government who spoke with hillary clinton when she was secretary of state... also gave money to the clinton foundation. clinton's campaign says she did not reap any profits.they also say the a- p's data is flawed.. because include 17-hundred meetings with world leaders. unemployment is down in most of wisconsin's large c data from the department of workforce development shows that unemployment dropp in 30 of the state's 32 large cities from june to july.mount pleasant and racine were the ly two cities that saw their rates increase. we can all pay tribute to our veterans. but one of the best ways to thank them for their service is by making sure they have a job when they return hom. home.that was one of the key messages at the 71st national convention of the blinded veterans association yesterday. they gathered at

a tornado was cauon captured the funnel cloud on his cell phone about an hour north of indianapolis. you can see the damage left behind. aerial views show apartment buildings and homes flattened. the storm knocked out power to thousands of people. police spotted at least two funnel clouds close to the ground.

3 making news around the world... new information in the deadly attack on the american university campus ... in kabul, afghanistan. offi killed and several are hurt this morning. witnesses say a large explosion blew open one of the school's gates during night classes.several american teachers and hundreds of students were on campus.this is the second attack on the university in a month.it's not known who is behind the attack. the gunmen were taken down by police. 3 the death toll from a powerful rthqke in italy has risen to about 250 victims. and -- crews are racing against the clock to find survivors.the

early wednesday morning in a remote, mountainous region of central italy...this clock tower still marks the time when the quake struck.italy's prime minister hugged firefighters after touring the devastation. he said it has been difficult to identify some of the victims.some residents say the military response has been slow. 3 3 back in the us- a tragic accident at a state pk in delaw. delaware.authorities say a woman fell off a zip line yesterday afternoon ... at lums pond state park.the 58ea hospital... but later died. maryland based company "go ape" runs the zip line. no word on what caused the fall. the incident is under investigation. a two-alarm fire damaged more than two-dozen school buses in washington state.authorities say the blaze broke out wednesday afternoon. school district officials say all staff members are accounted for.no injuries were reported. an investigation is underway. the cause of the fire has yet

3 new this morning.. milwaukee police are investigating a robbery at the clark gas station on 60th and oklahoma. it happened around 8-30 last night.you can see crime tape blocking off reports of any injuries. police have not released any suspect information yet...the investigation contines. looking ahead now...three people charged for crimes during the unrest in milwaukee will appear in court today. the suspects are facing charges of burglary and entry into a locked building. cbs 58s julie parise is in the studio and has the details. julie? 3 durell jones, joseph lindsey and devon love will appear for their preliminary court hearings today. they were arrested for looting clark beer and liqor on august 14th

milwaukee police say they were doing crowd control in the area of 47th and burleigh when they got word that there had been a break in. several windows were broken and a glass door was damagedofficers ordered the three suspects to come outsi the storewhen they didn't -- a canine entered to search for those inside.the owner at that location says they have cost him about 125 thousand dollars and now him and his employees are left to pick up the pieces. for me i know it means a lot tot eh community. this is been 50 people that have come in and apologized, we're sorry this happened here. and our staff. someone cried. we got 8 staff working here. some of them have been here a long time...why? how many jobs? they're losing jobs. 3 joseh lindsey and devon love were charged wi entry to a locked building. durrell jones was charged with burglary.the three will make their court appearance this morning at

a ?milwaukee? lawmaker is the latest to call for legislation.. in response to this month's unrest in the sherman park neighborhood. this after- state representative chris taylor of madison called for change in police procedures. procedures. yesterday... fellow democrat- statement... he plans to introduce legislation regarding the use of deadly force by police officers. young's statement didn't give ?specifics? about what he would propose... but he promised legislation on police . hiring...calling for 40- percent of new officers to come from low income ip create a bond and respect between police and the neighborhoods where they work. 3 governor walker is addressing the controversy over job creation in e troulbed sherman park neighborhood. neighborhood.his comments come just two days after several groups including "citizen's action of wisconsin" sounded the alarm and demanded immediate attention to job creation.the governor says meetings have taken place that were scheduled long before the unrest and he shared with us what he told city officials. ya know that movie "field of

they don't want to stop for these red lights. i think that mostly be the problem. 3 3 last april... 57-year-old henry nelson was hit and killed at this same intersection. police have no suspects in that case.. or tuesday night's hit and run. this morning we're hearing fromhe mother of a two and half year old b who died after crawling out of a window at his grandma's house on the city's northside tuesday. tuesday. terry harris lockhart, mother "he had his whole life ahead of him i wish i could trade places with him because this is nohow is have been." 3 3 terry harris lockhart says her son michael was taking a nap with his teenage u when he woke up and crawled feet first oua cracked window... that's where she was told he died. she says her son was always happy and loved to play outside.while there is still questions around his death she has a message for parents of young children. 3 terry harris lockhart, mother "i just hope this is a lesson to a lot of parents out here if there is no screens on the

windows. that could save their e life if he would have taken the precaution to put screens on the window my son would have been looking out of it instead of hanging out of it. 3 she says police told her it ght now she's waiting for t the medical examinerto give her an official cause of death. 3 attoeys' for nviccod murderer steven avery are expected to file an appeal today.this after a judge conviction against his nephew- - in the killing of te halbach... back in 2005. 2005.the manitowoc clerk of courts tells cbs 58.. avery's attorney- kathleen zellner- was at the courthouse an official otion.zellner is known for successfully overturning convictions. she took on avery's case days after the series "making a murderer" premiered.cbs 58 reached out to zellner's office but so far- no response. avery's original trial attorney... who is not involved in the appeal... says

"i think there's newly discovered evidence. i think he's got very competent, skilled team of lawyers working on his case and there's been tips that have been coming in all along, and it's just a matter of time, i think, until the truth comes out, and ultimately the state of wisconsin is going to look very bad." bad." brenden dassey's conviction was overturned by a federal judge about two weeks ago. we will be following this that paperwork is filed.. we'll bring you the very latest. 3 a prosecutor is asking for a re-trial in the case against dennis brantner.bratner was recently on trial for the 19-90 murder of 18-year-old berit beck in fond du lac county.the trial ended in a hung jury earlier this summer. a hearing is set in fond du lac county for september sixth.. on the request for another trial.brantner was arrested last year in the cold case murder.. after new evidence was discovered. coming up on the cbs 58

three people charged for crimes during the unrest in milwaukee will appear in court today. durell jones, joseph lindsey and devon love will be in court for their preliminary hearings this morning.they were arrested for looting clark beer and liquor on august 14th in the area of 47th and burleigh.officers ordered the three suspects to come outside the store...when they didn't -- a k-9 entered to search for those inside. lindsey and love were charged with entry to a locked building. jones was charged with b greenfield police are investigating a burglary at hayat pharmacy this morning.it happened near 27-th street in greenfield just after midnight. police say they have a person of interest.this comes after a string of break ins at hayat pharmacies across milwaukee county. police say a 20-year- old man is in custody related to one that happened just the other day at the 85th and capital location. 3 this morning..milwaukee police are investigating a robbery at the clark gas station on 60th and oklahoma. it happened
