our ?top? story this morning--- milwaukee police returned to the sherman park neighborhood overnight. families in the area ?called them?... and asked police to restore order. order.several people were arrested near a makeshift memorial for syville smith-- the man killed by a milwaukee police officer after a traffic stop. cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live from the milwaukee county jail with more. kyle? 10 people were arrested at the make-shift memorial and are waking up heres according to milwaukee police, large gatherings have been taking place near 44th and auer.... and local residents have asked police and local elected officials to help continue restoring order.last night, milwaukee police arrived around 8 o'clock and say between 30 and 40 people were gathered.police say they saw some of those people were breaking the law, so they asked the crowd to peacefully disperse.20 minutes passed before they asked again.some

arrsets were made.community actvists say they believe police could have handled the situation better. . i talked to the sergeant and he said we agree to disagree. (41) there is way to many police officers here. i believe the people that was gathered here was just paying their respect. it's plain and simple. that's what they were doing. 3 coming up in our next half hour, what police chief ed flynn says about restg order to sherman park.live in milwaukee.kyle aevermann.cbs58 news. 3 the milwaukee man- stabbedto death on the city's east side- is being remembered. a vigil was held last night... for those who knew "shawn ostrom"-- a chef at the pfister. pfister.people gathered outside "thurman's 15" on pulaski and arlington.that's where the 32-year-old was found dead early monday morning.police say... he was stabbed during an argument.two men are in custody... though no charges have been filed yet.

five men are released from custody ...after milwaukee police say a girl admitted to making up a story about being attacked near a park. 3 the 12 year old took back her statement after reporting an assault near 23rd and national.. near mitchell park on monday.police are now saying there was no group attack.but the clarification comes late for neighbors... when it's false alarms like that it does take away from the real seriousness of the crimes that happen in the city. like the burleigh stuff. there's police catching pokemon. pokemon. after police determined the assault did not happen ...they released the suspects from custody. 3 3 with 10 weeks to the election -- there's growing concern over the security of election systems. wisconsin just joined an election system made up of 20 other states.they're able to share information to make sure eligible voters are registered...but two of those states just had their databases hacked.the fbi says

say up to 200-thousand voter records were comprised... including parts of social security and driver's license numbers.the system is called the "electronic registration information center" -- or eric. wisconsin plans to send more than a million voter registration cards next month through the program.governor scott walker says the state is working to protect everyone's constitutional right. 3 "we've put safeguards in there but the volume of hits we get from around the world every day is phenomenal. you're looking at millions of attempts to try and hack into the state's system and that's why we're constantly seeking to improve." improve." we reached out to "eric" today...we're told the system's data -- like date of birth, driver's license numbers or the last four digits of social security numbers are not public-- and the hacks have nothing to do with their group. 3 looking ahead-- a 16 year old accused of stealing a car from a sturtevant dealership back in july...will make an initial appearance today in adult court. court.that's according to the

a burglary at racine hyundai on washington and 96-th... amid a string of car dealership burglaries earlier this summer. sturtevant police say the suspects broke windows to get inside the business.. then drove the cars through a window to get out.milwaukee police stopped one of the cars reported stolen.the 16-yat car and was arrested... his name will not be released... until he's charged. later this morning milwaukee city leaders including mayor tom barrett are putting books in barbershops. barbershops.the kickoff event seeks to help achievement gap by making books available to kids at their neighborhood barbershop. according to the african-american literature book club... only 3-percent of black male milwaukee 8th graders score at or above proficient level in reading. the event starts at 10 am at "chicago cutz" on capitol drive on the city's north side. today marquette university will honor mother teresa with a special mass. this weekend mother teresa will be canonized into sainthoo. sainthood.the nun visited marquette back in the 80s.cbs 58's julie parise is live at

with our look ahead. julie? later on today that mass will happen here, near this mother teresa statue outside of the schroeder complex.in 1981, marquette honored mother teresa withe the pere marquette discovery award -- the university's highest honor. next week, the university is expected to share some of the documents and photos from mother teresa's visit to mark her canonization. meanwhile, a group of pilgrims left from milwaukee yesterday so they the canonization. they tell us, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. everyone has seen her example and everyone is inspired by her. i think for us to actually be there and to be able to bring that back will be a real impetus for us to make sure that we're doing the best we can to set an example and encourage others others today's mass takes place at noon. mother teresa will be canonized into sainthood this

3 the milwaukee skyline is set to receive a major expansion... now that the downtown transit center has been sold. sold.milwaukee county officials sold the property to developer rick barrett-- who plans to build a skyscraper... known as "the couture"county officials announced that sale yesterday. the building will include more than 300 housing units... along with restaurants and retail. it will also serve as a transportation hub for buses.. pedestrians.. and the new strer. :51 "it's going to create 2,000 jobs, it's a $120-million dollar project, it'll contribute millions to the tax base. it's another visible, tangible sign of the growth in milwaukee. milwaukee. 3 county executive chris abele says he hopes to hold a ceremonial ground-breaking within the next month. the project should be complete in 3 years. 3 you can find complete coverage of the new developments around milwaukee -- from the city's

chris brown is feeling the heat ...once again. los angeles police arrested the singer on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon... after an hours-long standoff at his home. authorities responded to a call for help yesterday morning ... from a woman on brown's property.the woman says brown pointed a gun at her face in his home. angry with her ...when she admired the man's diamond necklace.police say brown refused to come out of the house until officers showed up with a search warrant hours later. during the standoff... the 27-year-old posted videos on instagram denying he did anything wrong.brown was arrested... but reportedly released last night after posting 250-thousand dollars bail... according to los angeles county jail records. 3 health concerns are causing "selena gomez"... to take a ?break? from her current tour.

sylville smith. he's the man who was shot and killed by a milwaukee police officer in the sherman park neighorhood 2 and a half weeks ago. police say they asked the crowd to disperse when officers quote: observed violations of the law.20 minutes had passed before officers asked again.we're told most in the crowd did, however some refused.even becoming disorderly and resistive.10 people were arrested disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. milwaukee po flynn says the department is continuing to bring order to sherman park.... something nearby residents have been asking for. sherman park's been restored to its residents. right now we're continuing to work through peace makers and community workers to make sure the scene of the incident is restored to the residents as well. they don't want to have continuous vigils as they go to their front yards and try to get to work and get a good night's sleep so that work is

the milwaukee county sheriff's office was concerned the crowd would move to sherman park which closes at 6.they surrounded the park with deputies in case.there were no problems.live in milwaukeekyle aevermann.cbs58 news. looking ahead now..a man accused of breaking into a liquor store during the unrest in milwaukee will be in court today for a bond hearing. heg. durrell jones burglarized the "clarke liquor store" near 47-th and burleigh. burleigh.joseph lindsey and devon love are also charged with the break-in.the two told detectives they didn't ?take? anything.they said... other people were ?already in the store? when they went inside. 3 a triple shooting in milwaukee leaves one man ?dead?... another man ?injured?... and a ?teenager? hurt too. too.the shooting happened yesterday afternoon at a home near north 27-th and brown. police are still investigating what ?led? to the gunfire.but

scene... it was the result of a ?home invasion? gone bad. sot: rev. alexis twito, the salvation army police chaplins coordinator01;19;45 one of the family members in the home was shot, and then the home invaders also, i believe. believe. the family told the chaplain... there were ?several kids? in the home at the time of the shooting.no details yet on any suspects. 3 funeral services are today for a 13-year-old girl who drowned at island park in racine last week.police say rayven griffin was playing with her 9-year-old cousin near the river when it happened. its unclear wheather she able to pull the young teenager out of the water... but it was too late.police say the drowning is not suspicious. 3 the visitation for rayven is from 10 to 11 this morning at saint paul missionary baptist church in racine.a service will follow at 11. this morning police are looking for a man... who robbed two ?businesses? in ocon. oconomowoc.they say... the man robbed ?flannery's liquor store? monday night around 8-30.employees told police... the suspect ?implied? he had a weapon.... took nearly 600 dollars in cash... then left.

besides developmental teams-- it could also host conventions... rodeos... and smaller scale musical acts. the city already owns the land--- so the cost of the project would be about 40 (m) million dollars.while supervisors say... they'd like to look deeper into the project... they also note it's hard to argue with an ?opportunity for growth.? 3 (supervisor shakoor) we need to enhance and grow where opps are all thruout 333 sq miles. all 17 municipalities. we need to work togethe to get things d. done.(anthony indian motorcycles) 2145 excites me to think of the possibility of 3k people coming to downotnw racine..the bars, the retail areas areas with or without the bucks--- mayor dickert says... this project would generate 400 (m) million dollars over 30 years and provide 200 permanent jobs. county leaders plan to meet again to discuss specifics in the next few weeks.sheboygan... madison... and lacrosse -- have also voiced interest in being home to a minor league team for the bucks.
