new this morning..several people are displaced... after a house fire in fond du lac. lac.it happened just before 10 last night at 4-th street and fond du lac avenue. avenue.when crews arrived on the scene.. they saw smoke and found a fire in the laundry room.firefighters were able to put out the fire.. but not before it caused smoke and heat damage.the cause of the fire is still under investigation... but the fire department says the origin appears to be the dryer.no one was hurt and everyone was able to escape. the red cross is now helping people who lived there. now to a "developing" story--- the milwaukee county medical examiner is investigating a ?dozen? suspected drug overdose deaths in 72 hours. hours.the m-e tweeted about the alarming number... with the hashtag "dose of reality." that's the name of the state's ?heroin and opioid? prevention campaign.this comes just weeks after the governor signed an order that allows ?all pharmacies in the state? to dispense "naloxone" without a prescription.that's a drug that ?reverses? an overdose. bill walmsley, paramedic

member of al oved one that you suspect has overdosed and you have the drug readily available, it can be the difference between life and death. 3 the milwaukee county medical examiner's office saw 161 overdose deaths in the first seven months of this year. 3 milwaukee county executive chris abele is criticizing the milwaukee common council's new safety plan.he says the recommendations in the report will cost the city and county hundreds of millions of dollars. abele says he doesn't know where the money would come from.. without raising taxes or cutting services milwaukee county district attorney john chisholm tells cbs 58.. he specifically questions the recommendation of bootcamps for at-risk youth. 00-23abele"the implication of all the recommendations in the public safety committee report would result in more african americans being incarcerated. and that's not something i support at all i think it's asinine."chisholm"i think what people were really hoping for were much more thoughtful longer-term analysis of how you address both issues

looking ahead--- a milwaukee man charged with ?attacking a firefighter?... will learn his fate in court today. today.investigators say... "travis babbs" and others chased firefighters who were responding to a ?medical emergency? near 60-th and capitol.it happened back in september during a vigil for a motorcylist who had been ?killed in a crash.? investigators say... babbs grabbed one of the firefighters by the arm and ?shoved him into the truck.? he's charged with ?felony battery?... and faces up to six years in prison.his sentencing hearing is set for 8:30 this morning. 3 3 women" is creating a scholarship to honor two nuns-- one with wisconsin ties-- who were killed. both women worked as nurse practitioners in one of the poorest parts of the country. the "sister margaret held and sister paula merrill graduate nursing scholarship" will be awarded to a graduate nursing student who works in an under- served area.. or does charitable work.sister held was a wisconsin native. she and merrill were found stabbed to death in their home in mississippi in august.

in their deaths.funerals for both women were held on friday. sister merrill's funeral was in kentucky. services for sister held were in wisconsin. it's a concept getting a lot of attention.a local village proposing to ?charge retailers? for shoplifting complaints. the somers village board of trustees in kenosha county... met with walmart officials last week to ?hash out concerns.? the proposed ordinance would require businesses to pay a ?500 dollar fine? for each shoplifting call over 20 calls in a month. trustees will somers village hall at 5:30 tonight. 3 toss to weather.. 3 ((???1:45 seconds??)) milwaukee county is looking into expanding the oak leaf tra. trail.the extension would connect the oak leaf trail with the rock sports complex.. the city of franklin commercial center.. and the planned franklin-muskego bike trail systems.the paved trail

the root river parkway.there will be an open house on the proposed expansion next tuesday, september 13-th at 4-30 at the root river parkway picnic shelter. 3 a new mural is slowly taking form... on a wall at the "wisconsin black historical society museum" in milwaukee. the painting is called "the gift" -- a vision of pittsburgh's "george (jist)"-- who's ?orginally? from brew cit. city.the mural at 26-th and center will represent africans who came to america and ?made contributi t this early stage--- the mural is ?attracting a lot of attention.? "people are stopping by, playing drums, dancing and praising the wall, they're doing all kinds of interesting...they see this as their gift and their wall." wall." 3 volunteers have made ?significant contributions? to help get the mural up.that includes the lift for the artist to stand on -- which came from "franklin equipment."

making news around the nation... a creepy clown sighting in north carolina has people on edge in ?two? states. a little girl says she heard strange noises coming from a wooded area in her winston-salem neighbhorhood over the weekend. weekend.she and a group of friends went to find out what it was... and that's when they spotted a man dressed in a clown suit -- trying to lure them into the woods.the group ran away... and the girl's grandmother alerted police. 26-30there's a man in the woods that says, "come here, we've got ice cream and candy." 11-13we just heard, "woohoo woohoo woohoo."49-52 we're out here canvassing
