worked with alderman caviler johnson and the safety division-- after this deadly crash last week00;03;52 it's sad that that's what it takes for something like this to happen, and even on our end, we could've been more proactive as well, but sometimes it takes those things to really realize where mistakes are happening. the city's safety division told cbs 58 news they reach out to public and private schools each year and there are standards for when a crossing guard is warranted- typically that means 30 crossing in an area where a high volume of cars pass through during a specific time period. but there are exceptions if there is construction or a particularly dangerous area.and even though deshazer says drivers might keep speeding, at least now it won't be up to kids to decide if they can make it across. 00;02;34 it'd be good ot have someone there to let them know it is safe to cross now. the safety division tells me they are always looking for crossing guards- it's a part

our website cbs 58.com new at five, neighbors waiting for word on why police in greenfield converged at an apartment complex. complex.tonight we have answers.a man was stabbed at the building near 30th and layton.officers called to scene around 12-30 this afternoon.the man was taken to the hospital. no word on his condition.as we learn the circumstances of this stabbing we will let you know. it's 12 year odl kevina freeman for endangering safety of deputies on the freeway. the 23-year old was in court today, three months after a dashcam video showed her backing a car into a sheriffs squad car after a traffic stop....dragging two deputies and knocking one deputy into the freeway. today's sentence includes 7-years behind bars and five years of extended supervision. 3 and the racine county sheriff's office says a suspect is now in custody for the robbery of a gas station

monday. a statement says the suspect was picked up in milwaukee county. earlier this week, cbs 58 reported on this robbery, plus robberies at gas stations in new berlin and mequon....pointing out that the suspect descriptions were quite similar. we still have no confirmation that the suspect is the same person, but new berlin police say they have someone in custody for the robbery ?there?. a mess on the freeway system this morning and this time, you couldn't blame construction. construction.a tractor trailer crashed on the southbound to westbound ramp interchange, the semi hit a median wall, sending chunks of that concrete barrier wall onto the roadway, before spilling its cargo of 48- thousand pounds of stones. the ramp was shut down for a couple of hours...but the interchange is open now. lately...it's rain coming from the east not the west that's been an nuisance around here. drew is getting us ready for tonight.... toss to drew drew tonight: showers continue

we've been warning you about it all week. have you figured out how you're going to get around the new ramp closing in the zoo interchange? it starts tomorrow and will last for 8 months. cbs 58 traffic reporter andy brovelli has details. the i-41/us-45 southbound to i-94 eastbound system ramp at the zoo interchange will close long term for ramp reconstruction. this closure will last through the winter months and is expected to reopen by late spring 2017. this ramp is a major artery for the morning commute and will no doubt have an impact to drivers come monday morning. drivers who want to continue to milwaukee will need to take advantage of posted detours. for local alternates drivers can exit i-41/us-45 southbound at watertown plank rd. and take that west to hwy 100 and rejoin the freeway at the hwy 100 on ramp to i-94. another alternate would be to exit at

the new 84th st. on ramp to i-94 eastbound. regional alternates include taking hwy 60 or hwy 167 east and take i-43 south toward milwaukee.as with most closures it will take drivers some time to get used to these alternates. you will need to plan for extra time along these routes during the early stages of this closure. you can double check those alternate routes by going to our website, cbs 58 dot com. they said if you build a new arena for the milwaukee bucks, it will draw other attractions. and it looks like it's starting to happen. we learned today that an illinois developer wants to build a new at rooms. it's described as "upscale" and it would be built just west of the arena site and not far from the old pabst brewery.this is just a proposal right now. city officials will consider the proposal next month...and if approved, construction could begin next spring. 3 a busy campaign week comes to a close in wisconsin. today, the daughter of democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton made a stop in green bay. cbs 58's david ade was there for chelsea clinton's

3 i had to change here, get on this bus go over to another area, change to light rail to go to hoboken. its going to take me 3 = to 4 hours to get to work. a traffic nightmare for commuters in new jersey...and it's not likely to get much better soon as the investigation into yesterday's deadly train crash continues. 3 federal investigato h a chance to examine the damage left behind when a train slammed into the terminal in hoboken early thursday. one of the problems they're having havingis they cannot remove the 'forward facing' surveillance cameras from the train because they're afraid they might get damaged in the tangled wreckage. witnesses say the train was traveling too fast when it slammed into barriers, then went airborne before plowing into a wall. the investigation will also consider whether technology called "positive train

j-j- watt's season is officially over.....texans head coach bill o'brien confirmed what we feared a few hours ago...the pride of pewaukee had back surgery yesterday and has no chance of coming back in 20-16.... 16....that means he will not be on the field for his wisconsin homecoming this december when the texans head to lambeau....the good news is once he recovers watt should be ready for next year...
