in your campaign 2016 coverage..americans across the country head to polls today to decide who will be the next commander-in-chief.after hitting a number of states yesterday...hillary clinton and donald trump made their final pitches overnight... overnight...to voters in north carolina and michigan, respectively.the 8 voters who gathered in dixville, new hampshire at midnight ...have already given a lead to clinton. 3 the justice department is deploying hundreds of people in 28 states...to monitor the polls. officials say the persne department's civil rights division and will help enforce federal voting rights laws. trump has repeatedly urged his supporters to monitor the polls...claiming the election may be rigged. 3 ?local? officials will ?also? be watching... to make sure it's a fair election.cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live from the zeidler municpal building with that story. kyle. as people get ready to cast their ballot-several groups are monitoring the polls to ensure a free and fair

the united states department of justice has more than 500 people observing voting in 28 states-including wisconsin. police are also patrolling to make sure people aren't disrupting the process.the legal director for the aclu of wisconsina group also monitoring poling sites---says voter intimidation doesn't happen often. larry depuis, legal director, aclu of wisconsin00;01;43 i've been doing this since 2004 and there's always a little bit of voter intimidation and it usually does not materialize. if you do see problems at a poling site we have details about how to report it on cbs 58.com 3 we continue team election coverage...the race for u-s senate in wisconsin should be close -- with just one point separating incumbent senator

russ feingold. feingold.cbs 58's julie parise is live in waukesha to tell us more about the big names lending support. julie? senator ron johnson is pinning his hopes of a win on a high voter turnout here in waukesha. meanwhile challenger russ feingold who wants the seat back that he lost six years ago -- and he says he feels confident he's going to win it. both candidates have had some big names from their reec to win over voters. the johnson campaign criss-crossed the state making 19 stops since thursday.traveling at times with donald trump's son -eric wisconsin governor scott walker and u-s house speaker paul ryan.along with a number of elected democrats from wisconsin feingold has had democratic vice presidential candidate tim kaine and current vice president joe biden in his corner. ryan "republicans... we need to come home... we need to

police chase and crash.it ended near ? 51st and keefe? around seven last night.police say... someone driving a car that was taken in an armed robbery was driving recklessly. when officers tried to ?stop? the car--- the suspect didn't stop--- leading police on a chase. the car hit another vehicle that had a woman and two kids inside.the two suspects tried to take off--- but police got them.the woman in the car that was hit.... suffered minor injuries.her two kids were ?not? hurt. 3 new detials now... on a double shooting in milwaukee.we now know two pe while riding their bikes... in the area of 47-th and clarke around nine last night. night.police say a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were confronted by a person with a gun.the suspect shot them both. one woman who has lived in the area for more than 20 years says she's used to the violence. its a disgrace...its just a shame you know if you dont keep a tight hold on your kids and you know this is all they see and this is all they see in the schools and everywhere else its just like i said its

the two people shot were taken to a local hospital where they are expected to survive. milwaukee police are still looking for the suspect this morning. looking ahead... a doctor's report is due back today... for a man accused of shooting and killing his ?ex-girlfriend.? girlfriend.?"pierre gardner" is charged with ?first degree reckless homicide?.... in the death of 19-year-old "nya hammond."she was found shot to death last month... in the parking lot of her workplace..."orthopaedic hospital of wisconsin"... in glendale.gardner is due in milwaukee county court later this morning. the city of milwaukee is laying out its plans... to get ?water filte risk of lead contamination. lead pipe filters... will be available to people living in milwaukee by november 29-th. two types of "aqua-sana" filters will be available for businesses and homes. the filters last about a year.. and are ?free? to those who have lead in their water. city officials say... their first priority will be 385 daycares... along with homes with pregnant women and children under the age of one. we know that this is an issue that is going to cross demographics and cross communities and so the more

the largest swell of the winter season is keeping lifeguards in hawaii busy. ocean safety officials confirmed two people were rescued while lifeguards pulled three people from the water off west oahu. oahu.yesterday's massive swell pushed up wave heights on oahu's north shore upwards of 30 feet.but a steady drizzle and unfavorable winds meant many areas didn't see the

could be ?more victims? of an alleged serial killer. killer.yesterday, authorities found a ?third? body buried at the property of todd kohl-hepp. that's where a woman was found ?chained in a metal container? last week.so far, the 45-year-old has been linked to at least seven deaths. 3 a columbus, ohio man is under arrest-- accused of providing or attempting to provide support to a terrorist organization.20-year-old "aaron daniels"... is accused of communicating with isis for more than a year and donating money.task force agents as he attempted to leave columbus with the intent of traveling to libya and joining isis.daniels faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted. 3 a mall in massachusets had to be evacuated after a large crowd gathered there for a meet and greet with celtics rookie jaylen brown and rapper . desiigner.cambridge police say more than a thousand people gathered at champs sports for the appearance. police say a large knocked over barriers and people waiting in line, six juveniles were arrested

morninbyou e st your ballot, there are few things you are going to want to make sure you remember.cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live from theer m zeidlicipal building in milwuakee with a closer look. kyle? this is the first presidential election where the state's photo id law is in effect., so you are going to want to make sure to bring your photo id. 3 you'll also want to bring proof of residence.to make it easier you should have your i-d ready when entering your polling place.poll workers will ask you to sign a poll list, give you a voting number, then hand you a ballot. as long as you're in line at eight tonight... you'll be able to vote.if you don't have a photo i-d, you can vote by provisional ballot.you must present an i-d by four p-m on friday to have your vote counted.if you have already voted either by mail or in person absentee and wanted to change your vote, you are out
