3 3 now at 4:30 - winter weather is causing concern across the country ...and right here at home. we're expecting a couple of inches of snow this weekend... while an arcitc blast continues to wreak havoc in other parts of the u-s. 3 plus--- milwaukee police need your help... finding ?this ma r say... he did. good morning! and thanks so much for joining us. today is friday december 9th.we're following a number of stories for you this morning... includingwhat mother nature plans to throw our way this weekend. parts of the country are dealing with a cold blast ... bringing ice snow ... and cold temperatures.the question is...are we getting that too? meteorologist justin thompson gee is in the weather center with jessica tighe to start us offgood morning! 3

winter weather conditions have also led to the ?cancellation of hundreds of flights? in portland and seattle. 3 new this morning... a man is seriously hurt after an overnight shooting in milwaukee. it happened around 11 last night... near north 26th and west galena streets. police say a 44-year-old man has several gunshot wounds.he was taken to the hospital for treatment.the shooting is under investigation. 30 years in prison for the last of the men convicted in the shooting death of 5-year-old laylah peterson lawyers agree that say arlis gordon was the man who hatched a 20-14 revenge plan... which ended up with 12 to 14 bullets in the wrong house.one of those bullets killed the girl as she sat on her gradfather's lap.gordon apologized in court... but petersen's father didn't believe him. 45-59"i would like to give my condolences to the family and friends of laylah petersen." 1:10-1:16"and they say he has remorse... he doesn't have remorse... he has remorse for being caught... not for what he did." did." 3

the manhunt for a suspected cop killer is over in georgia. georgia.police found suspect ?minguell lembrick? dead inside a home -- after a long search.they say it appears he shot himself. 25-year-old georgia police officer nicholas smarr was killed while answering a call about a domestic dispute at an apartment complex on wednesday. the other officer- jody smith- who works for southwestern state universitywa a judge ?denies? the defense's motion for a mistrial... during the second day of the ?charleston church shooter? cas. case.lawyers for dylann roof ?unsuccessfully argued?... that a witness's remarks saying the 22-year-old was "evil" and belonged in a "pit of hell" suggested a sentence. the judge told jurors... any decision on guilt or a sentence... is up to ?them?--- not the attorneys or witnesses in the case.roof admitted to killing ?nine black parishioners? at a bible study last year. he faces 33 federal counts--- including hate crime

charged after flipping his truck over a wall and plunging more than 50 feet off a bridge.. bridge....the 20-year-old driver, who is a sailor with the u-s navy ...is currently in the hospital with two broken ribs and a bruised lung. emergency crews were able to reach and rescue the man. authorities say his injuries are non-life threatening.he was ticketed for reckless driving. a "jeopardy!" contestant who achieved her dream of appearing on the show has died...just a week before the episode was set to air. air. cindy stowell passed away monday morning after a long battle with cancer. according to her longtime partner. she was 41. the episode featuring stowell is scheduled to air next tuesday. stowell was fighting "stage 4" cancer when she competed on the show on august 31st...and only a handful of staffers.. including longtime host alex trebek.. knew she was sick. according to a statement from the show... stowell's opponents were unaware she was ill. 3 the world's ?tallest? animals.... are in the process of a "silent extinction." that's according to an international conservation group.the group says... the wild giraffe population has
