news, the death of israeli statesman shimon peres at age 93. >> a state funeral planned for friday in jerusalem. he was a towering big in politics serving twice as prime minister and later as the nation's ninth president and won the nobel paez prize and retired just two years ago as the world's oldest head of state spending his final years promoting peace. peres died two suffering a stroke. >> lots of reaction. including a statement from president obama who said, a light has gone out but the hope he gave us will burn forever. and we do expect to get confirmation later today on which american leaders will attend his funeral. there are new very manies overnight in the race for the white house. hillary clinton and donald trump are launching new attacks following the most watched debate in u.s. history. >> clinton charge be joined by bernie sanders as she campaigns in new hampshire today and trump is holding rallies in the

newly released pictures. they took one of the bombs from a piece of luggage on a manhattan street and looking to question the two men as witnesses, not suspects. police in charlotte, north carolina, had more than protesters to deal with. a suspicious package forced the evacuation of their headquarters. the object was placed in a bomb robot last night then removed to a remote location. reports say the fedex package contained a cell phone, a flashlight and a bulb. the aleppo is growing after the most destructive bombing in years. more than a thousand residents have died in just the past week and a half during a bombing campaign by russia and the syrian government. many homes reduced to rubble by cluster bombs which are designed to maximize casualties and witnesses say so-called bunker buster bombs were used on people in underground shelters. isolated rebels say they are determined to, quote, fight until the end. >> back in this country we're one step closer to a government

stopgap funding bill. ten republicans joined democrats in voting down the measure meaning a shutdown could come as soon as this weekend. the bill would have funded the fight against zika. democrats also want to address flint, michigan,'s water crisis but republican leaders say they'll focus on flint after the election. terrorism taking center stage. congress attempts to override a presidential veto over a bill that would saudi arabia. five hijackers from saudi citizens, however no evidence was found to prove the saudis funded the attacks. the president vetoed the bill worrying it could lead to retaliation against u.s. citizens. a fast-moving wildfire has forced hundreds of northern californians from their homes. the loma fire in the santa cruz mountains has destroyed more than 2200 acres and at least one home. another house was damaged as well. the blaze is aided by the very

wildfire in decades so there is a lot of brush to burn. in iowa in cedar rapids, they are breathing a sigh of relief where flood preparations apparently paid off. the cedar river creffed a foot below expectations but more importantly, the temporary flood barriers held back the water. residents also paid attention and stayed out of the downtown area as instructed. the river is expected to stay at flood stage through the end of the week. looking at the radar, huge system is swirling over lake michigan bringing rain to minnesota a those storms will be on the move and bring days of rain to the northeast. tom hanks is using his star power to shine the spotlight on millions of unsung americans. the oscar winning actor went to capitol hill to launch the hidden heroes campaign. it's an initiative for military care givers, spouses and parents as well as other loved ones who serve the country by caring for wounded warriors at home. hanks got involved at the request of the founder, former
