yesterday's high of 95. so we're still coming down from that basically. 80 in largo and pinellas park. widening this out a little bit, still at 80 in inverness. 79 in lakeland and bartow. 77 in north port. about the rain chances, very similar to yesterday. dry through the morning, adding in the slim rain chance for inland areas in the early afternoon between about noon and 2:00. at 3:00 p.m., heading into the evening, the rain chance gets better going up to 40%. and the storms will toward the coast. before the rain gets there though, it will be hot. i'm saying 93. at least it's cooler than yesterday 5 but above average. in weather and traffic on the 8s, i will take you hour-by- hour through your tuesday. and leslee is going to get you through the tuesday morning. >> that's right. good so far so good. not being slowed down but we have overnight construction here. this is south on i-75 at university parkway. the two right lanes are taken away due to overnight construction.

bridges, up here in pinellas county. orange street at pinellas avenue. vehicle caught fire here. and you might see activity but no delays at pinellas avenue also known as alternate 19. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to gene and gayle. >> thank you. right now, a bay area elementary school is preparing for a very difficult day ahead. a popular music teacher hospitalized following a car crash died. caroline sign and a passenger were hit by a suspected drunk driver in and last night, sign passed away. news channel 8's ryan hughes is live at sexton elementary school, a sad day for students and teachers there, ryan. >> reporter: gene, good morning to you. they are in disbelief that their beloved teacher here died at the beginning of the school year. the secretary here explained what this woman meant to the school community.

she's get-going, she's just got a lot of love that pours out of her. >> reporter: caroline sign was driving with fellow music teacher sean hawkins who works at another elementary school in hillsborough when the car was hit by a suspected drunker driver. police arrested bryce mccloud and charged him with dui. an administer at the jail tells me the charges will likely be uped manslaughter. mccloud remains in jail. and the passenger is in st. petersburg hospital with serious injuries. the suspect will likely appear in court later today. and i am checking to find out if grief counselors will be available for students and staff members when they come to school today. certainly a hard week ahead for many people here. >> such a terrible development. thank you. do you know who this guy is? well, this morning deputies

here walking into a hillsborough county gas station. this surveillance video from the circle k on glenn road in plant city shows the man taking out a small black hand gun and pointing it at the clerk. he demands money and then takes off running. so if you do recognize him, please call the sheriff's office. and take a good look at this other guy here, polk county deputies are looking for him. hard to see under the visier. maybe you recognize some of the facial features. he is suspected of stealing debit lakeland and winter haven and then taking out cash at various atms. if you recognize him, call the polk county sheriff's office. and now an 8 on your side. check your credit card statements, especially if you have been traveling recently. >> hackers are stealing personal credit card information. news channel 8's lindsey mastis is live in tampa this morning. lindsay, you are outside one of the hotels aif he caned but

>> reporter: absolutely. this is one of 20 hotels in 10 state affected. these breaches don't just include customers getting rooms but also things like food and drinks no. now one expert tells us that hackers seem to be one step ahead. >> it's crazy how under their arm we are and against hackers and their ables to get into the security systems. >> reporter: some of the hotel affected include marriott and starwood hotels. they revealed that hackers used malware to get credit card information from thousands of customers. now in response, they are actually doing a lot to try to make sure that the malware is nowhere on the systems anymore and beefing up their own security. and anyone that believes they are affected needs to look closely at the credit card statements for unusual activity and make sure that your credit card has fraud protection.

speeding down avenue q hit a dead end when polk county denied their requests for speed bumps so they decided, better call behnken. shannon got to work checking the speed of drivers on this 25 miles per hour street. take a look at this. >> nail his -- >> yeah! hit your brakes! you better. >> reporter: he was going 40. >> there were many speeders but the biggest offender, county workers speeding maintenance yard at the end of avenue q there. shannon took the evidence to county officials and then sent a sternly worded email to the drivers asking them to please slow down. one looked like they caught a wheel there. if you have a problem that needs solving, better call behnken, 1-855-behnken. >> people hitting the brakes for shannon there. >> did you hear that? and then that lady. time for weather and traffic on the 8s.

step outside. >> no brakes on the heat. maybe cooler than yesterday's high of 95 but not by much. hour-by-hour here, by 8:00 a.m., it will be 80 degrees. 89 at noon. 93 around 4:00 p.m. you will be wishing for a thunderstorm to come by or at least be nearby so you cool down a bit. and those storms will push toward the coast. and stronger and more widespread west of i-75, places like pinellas, western pasco and western hillsborough. and the farther east you go ro earlier you see the rain but also the less you're going to see. so rain starts after 1:00 p.m., pushes towards the coast. and low 90s each afternoon. and i am tracking a tropical wave in the eastern atlantic. at this point, it has a 70% chance of developing. the good news is, most of the computer models keep this one out to sea so no worries here in the united states. now we check on traffic on the 8s and see what you need to worry about. just overnight construction

live pictures from las vegas. the last tower of the iconic riveria hotel and casino. the authority now owns the property and i the site is part of a $182 million expansion of the convention center there. they're making room for some new buildings coming there. the expansion is expected to be completed in january. in news across america this morning, the suspect in the new york city was arrested monday. the 35-year-oldwas charged with two counts of second -- 35-year- old was charged with two counts of second degree murder. police recovered a revolver at his home earlier in the day. more than a thousand people attended a funeral prayer service for the imam in a parking lot just blocks away from where he was shot. devastating images from louisiana. officials continue surveying the damage caused by historic

the hard hit areas by helicopter monday. many roads remain under water. thousands of residents are in shelters. the governor estimates the total damage will exceed $6 million. officials have confirmed at least seven deaths related to all this flooding. president barack obama declared a major disaster for the state of louisiana. and multiple tornadoes touched down in central indiana monday evening. take a look. this is video of one of the tornadoes taken just a few miles west tornadoes damaged several home in boone county. thunderstorms are expected in the area again this morning and a flood watch remains in effect for several counties. and this morning, a texas couple is recovering after they were struck by lightning. take a close look here and you will see the couple unloading the suv when the lightning bolt hits the vehicle. and you can see their small child just feet away. he covers his ear, runs towards his dad for help. the couple went to the hospital but were discharged that

zephyrhills, 74. bartow, 79. north port, 77. and still dealing with rain, a cold front from chicago down through texas but food watches continue across texas and louisiana. so what is happening is that rain continues, we have a general east wind. and when that happens, it's a warm wind because it's coming over the land and pushes the first few showers around 1:00 p.m. in eastern polk county and highlands county. and better rain chances later in the day, about a 40% chance. and this pattern sticks with us for most of the week. afternoon storms towards the coast. and things change on saturday and sunday with earlier morning showers. how about traffic on the 8s? all right, overnight construction still out there out in the polk county area. this is eastbound i-4 where we have the right lane taken away. this is between state road 55 and 9 the polk parkway. be aware of it. and let's move to the map, tarpon springs, a vehicle fire up there by orange and pinellas
