atlantic. this morning, we have hurricane gaston. and also, invest 99l which could become a tropical storm. so let's turn it over to meteorologist leigh spann for the latest leigh. so it's very busy out there. >> it is. and this is the time. i mean, the peak of hurricane season is early september. so we expect to see more tropical systems developing and that's what we have. here's invest 99l. at this point, an 80% chance over the next five become some sort of tropical system. overnight, it became hurricane gaston, the third hurricane of the season. the good news with gaston, yes, it may strengthen to a category two hurricane over the next five to seven day, but it stays out to sea. we are closely watching what we are calling invest 99l. over the next several day, it will head into the bahamas and

strengthening. if it's not a tropical system before it gets there, good chance it will after it arrives. and then notice the five to six day spread, the storm could head anywhere from the gulf of mexico to the east coast. and may actually affect us. now how much the affects we have -- how much of the effects we will have will depend on the track and the intensity. it crosses into miami and over in the eastern portion of th good amount of rain. the american model is keeping this quite weak and never really develops it. yes, it's a tropical moisture so we could see higher rain chances early next week. so we will watch it for you. and i will have the eight-day temperature trend for you in weather and traffic on the 8s. and leslee has the roads. all right, a good drive. not a perfect drive, never is. but just a little bit of police activity southbound armenia at

going the wrong way but the police got to that person before there was any collisions. that's good news. and meanwhile, one lane is remange open. northbound sunshine skyway bridge, southbound, 10 minutes between the toll plazas and just six minutes across the howard frankland bridge. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to gene and gayle. >> thank you. today tampa city leaders expected to talk about a spring music festival that left two people dead and manynj people fell ill at the sunset music festival. that was held at raymond james stadium. and 8 on your side's ryan hughes is lye at tampa city hall this morning. emergency d is live -- is live at tampa city hall this morning. >> reporter: good morning. it's believed drug overdoses led to those two deaths and the illness of more than 50 others. city officials will meet at city hall here to map out ways to prevent this the kind of thing from ever happening

music festival. at the time, fire department officials allege that organizers knew concert goers took drugs but looked the other way. two people died and 57 were taken to the hospital. leaders want to make sure local hospitals are ready to deal with the impact of a similar event. they also plan to make sure it doesn't happen again. mayor bob buckhorn was outraged listen here. >> this was not happenstance. these types of festivals attract these types of drugs and drug use. >> reporter: there's one option on the table, shut down the festival altogether. we will learn exactly what findings the police and fire department came up with at that meeting later today. gayle, back to you. >> it will be interesting to figure out what they decide. thank you, ryan. donald trump will be campaigning in new hampshire today. this follows a huge rally wednesday in tampa.

mccowan talked to trump one on one. and she is here with me now. an incredible get for you because you were the only station that spoke with him one on one yesterday. did you get the sense that he's going to be changing the immigration plan? which is what many people are talking about. >> yeah, his campaign said he might soften his stance but i asked him yesterday, one of the first things we talked about. the base supporter, they like where he has been standing on immigration, they like what he has had to the question is, how can he appeal to more voters and i asked him about that. >> reporter: is it your plan to still deport 11 million illegal immigrants. >> we have a strong stance and we're going to build a wall. and it's going to be a wall like no other. only the right people, only people that go through a very, very tough vetting process are coming into the country.

clinton foundation and calling the report about meetings involving donors absurd. she says the report drew conclusions based on a small portion of her time as secretary of state. the foundation said they would ban donations from foreign countries if she is elected president. many questions about the death of a man found dead in a ditch in sarasota. two men walking along east avenue found his body wednesday night. right now, it's unknown long the man has been there. and an autopsy is scheduled to determine his cause of death. as the number of confirmed zika virus cases in florida continues to grow, researchers at the national institute of health are working to find a vaccine that can contain the virus. two companies in the u.s. are doing human testing on two possible vaccines. the company says they have developed a dna vaccine that

as it clears human testing. county residents are raising questions about the chemical being used to fight zika virus. it has been banned in europe and puerto rico. many believe it could be more dangerous than the zika virus itself. the u.s. and epa says it is safe if used in small doses. and in higher quantity, it could cause difficulty breathing and dizziness, and tremors. let's get a check on weather and traffic on the 8s. >> another of course humid start to the day. it is late august afterall. but i wanted to show you where we have rainfall across the state of florida. it's mainly to the south, basically south of lake okeechobee. you might have extra clouds in highlands county, even sarasota and desoto county. another than that, mostly clear skies this morning. once the sun comes up around 7:00 a.m., we will be at 77. and it warms quickly after

by 1:00, it's around 89 with an afternoon high of 92 at 4:00 p.m. and that brings the rain chance the highest at 40%. today's high is 92. that's a couple degrees above average but not near the record, thank goodness. 92 friday and saturday. and toward the weekend and early next week, notice how the temperatures trend down to near 90, even 89 by wednesday. and that's because i will be increasing the rain chances. the exact rain chances will be determined by the tropical that's currently near puerto rico and its track and how strong it. is for the meantime, let's check on the roadways with traffic on the 8s. because i know we had one issue earlier. >> yeah, and traffic is moving at good speeds. there's not that many vehicles out there, folks. let's look at travel times. we want to talk the about gibsonton, 301 to big bend road on 75, only about eight minutes. and state road 64 near the bradenton area down to

commute on 75. let's take a live look, this is 275 and gandy boulevard over in pinellas county. looking very good here. no delays. and and that howard frankland bridge, only six minutes to cross no. complaints there. that's a look at weather and traffic on the 8s. back to gene and gayle. right now, rescue crews continue the search for survivors from wednesday's powerful earthquake in italy. 247 people are confirmed dead but there's lots of hope. take a look as rescuers pull this little girl rubble. what a beautiful sight. the 10-year-old girl was trapped in the rubble for almost 17 hours. this is in one of the three cities hit the hardest. and these are live pictures right now from where the search for survivors continues. you see a lot of activity but look at the rubble. emergency crews are standing by and we will keep you updated

the florida department of law enforcement has turned over investigation of omar mateen to the local prosecutor. mateen killed 49 people and injured another 53 at pulse nightclub in orlando. the office of the state attorney will now determine if the officers' use of force was appropriate. and the fbi continues its investigation into the deaths of the 49 victims. in south florida,
