>> he has really started his political activity based on this racist lie. >> reporter: and again, throughout day today, the debate over who debated better is going to continue. and this is just the first one. we still have two additional debates to go. at hofstra university, rod carter, news channel 8. back to you. well the third candidate for president is weighing in on the debate this morning. gary johnson used to show his displeasure, it was boo. you see it there in quotes. the debate organizers explain that he didn't reach the poll votes to be included. he made the comments to us while at a campaign event in lakeland. news channel 8 was the only tv the station to talk to senator kaine. here's what he had to say about the importance of the debates. >> this is the point where
attention, remaining undecideds now start trying to figure out where they're going to go. and a few voters have preferences. >> kaine is in orlando today. it's day three of campaign swings through florida. trump's running mate governor mike pence is campaigning in wisconsin today. his next stop is in ohio and pennsylvania to rally supporters. pence and kaine scheduled to it's 4:05. right now, the search is on for a man accused of month mountains lesting a child in tarpon springs. police claim a man walked into the restroom the same time as a 6-year-old. that's when police claim the person inappropriately touched the child and tried to take a picture. police are now wanting to talk to the person you see here in this surveillance video. it's all in connection with this case. they are not identifying the person or revealing why they want to the talk to him.
rick scott will visit the giant mosaic sinkhole in polk county. he is expected to get a firsthand look at the hole that is dumping millions of gallons of contaminated water into the florida aquifer. it comes a day after the governor issued an emergency rule requiring companies to notify government agencies if there is an incident. mosaic and the state department of environmental protection did not notify the public days. it's concerning for one scientist. he says contaminated material will continue to flow into the aquifer until the hole is plugged. >> coming in at the peak of the wet season next month. so you can expect a lot more water to go down that hole. >> in another new development, tampa bay water confirmed they shut down two pumps closest to the sinkhole. the field provides water to

defense. he has not been charged. police are hoping witnesses to the deadly confrontation will come forward and give them an idea of what happened. a wrong-way crash in st. petersburg on martin luther king near 1st avenue north where a white truck and black car slammed into each other. you can see how smashed up the black car is. police say the driver of the black car is new to the area and had bad directions when she ended up going the wrong way. three people were in the car and injuries. the driver of the white truck was not hurt. it's 4:08. how is it looking, leigh spann? >> not too bad. better than about 12 hours when we were seeing intense thunderstorms. we had lightning and hail and strong winds and torrential downpours. let me just take you back 12 hours ago. my goodness, we had strong storms and they continued until about 12:00. and we had thunderstorms in pinellas county around 1 , 2:00

across america, a seventh night of protests in charlotte, north carolina, people upset over the shooting death of a black man at the hands of police took their protest to a city council meeting. demonstrators packed the meeting demanding action. they want charlotte's mayor and police chief to resign. many claim they can't trust them anymore. it's not only adults calling for change. listto plea. >> we need our fathers and mothers. to be by our side. >> police claim keith scott had a gun and refused commands to drop it before an officer opened fire. scott's family claims he did not have a gun and police video released of the confrontation is inconclusive. check this out, some unity on the football field. the atlantic falcons and the new orleans saints did

in an 8 on your side consumer watch, disney is reportedly looking into buying twitter. the deal would give disney a new online outlet for entertainment, sports and news. twitter's stock jumped 3% on talks about the potential deal. however, disney may have some competition. microsoft is also reportedly trying to make a deal.
