commute weather-wise, flying out of tampa international airport this morning. no problems this morning. could see a few showers possible this afternoon, already getting going on the east coast. and even occasional lightning near cape canaveral this morning. 67 in zephyrhills. wimauma, you're 69. and starting off at 74 for the wake-up temperature in st. pete this morning. your average high is 84. and we will jump to 87 this afternoon. now that's coming off of yesterday's abnormally warm high of 90. quite warm as well here. the warm streak continues. big changes down to road. i'll tell you about that in a bit. and let's check out the roads with leslee lacey. >> still looking good. >> good. more vehicles on the roadway. we have an accident here but it's off to the side of the roadway. not tying up lanes eastbound i- 4 before you get to u.s. 27. again, absolutely no delays. not a traffic factor. this construction should wrap up any minute, if not already

underneath the interstate westbound university. we had one lane taken away. but again, wrapping up that up. and through venice, no delays on 75. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to candace and gene. >> thank you. hillary rodham clinton and donald trump are wondering if more of clintons ahacked emails will be released by wikileaks. this was --clinton's hacked emails will be released by wikileaks. there are cryptic messages coming in this morning. >> reporter: that's right. on sunday, wikileaks released a massive batch of emails. they say it came from the hacked personal account of hillary rodham clinton's campaign chairman. critics claim the emails showcase the inner workings of the campaign. they include exchanges about how clinton could do a better job apologizing for her private email center and handling donations from foreign governments and discussing her health records and taxes. saturday's release included what wikileaks, the alleged

republican party is being taken over by extremists. and the clinton campaign blames russia for the hacks and claims in of the documents are doctored and they fault donald trump for cheering on the russian attempt to influence the election. >> the clemens lynn, meaning the kremlin, meaning putin and the russian government, are directing the hacks to influence our election. >> reporter: nbc's new map shows clinton with an advantage in most state, although here, florida considered a toss-up. and just this morning, wikileaks tweeted that the found julian assange's link has been severed by a state party and a back-up plan has been

wondering if there are more emails coming out today. >> yeah, a lot of people watching for that. thank you. this morning, the search is on for those who fire bombed and vandalized a republican party office in north carolina. someone threw a molotov cocktail through the window of the orange county gop headquarters here raleigh. vandals spray painted graffiti on the side of a nearby business. republican officials say they won't be deterred. >> we are going take the necessary precautions to do whatever it takes to keep our people safe and keep them working. >> the office plans to open today with extra security. donald trump took to twit and- -took to the twitter to claim

hillary rodham clinton's campaign by the way also condemned the attack. donald trump is standing by his claim that the election is rigged. sunday morning, he tweeted the election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest media pushing crooked hillary. and also at many polling places. and he has repeated the claim at many rallies. paul ryan denounced the claim over the weekend and even trump's running mate mike pence downplayed it on >> we will absolutely accept the results of the election. look, the american people will speak in an election that will culminate on november 8th. >> trump said "saturday night live" should be canceled after he was unhappy with how he was portrayed on the show's skit this weekend. here's one clip referencing the women. >> she is trying to silence

>> what about all the women accusing you of sexual assault? >> they need to shut the hell up. >> in a tweet sunday morning, trump called the show boring and unfunny and said that alek baldwin's portrayal of him, quote, stinks. comedian schumer didn't hold back when she called tampa horrendous and filled with people who can't read. >> she had a show at amalie stir up more controversy with more comments about trump. in a video up loaded to youtube during the performance, schumer pulled a fan on stage and grilled him about why he was voting for trump. and after that, people say they bashed the republican candidate and that's when some fans started booing and walking out. and now this isn't the first time she has stirred up controversy in tampa.

right now, a man is dead after she was shot by a pasco county deputies. here is a picture. investigators say the van drove up along side the girl in hoy. everybody. i mean, if i catch him, i'll hurt him. but i mean, if i see his van, that van you showed me, i will call the police and have him arrested. >> it is an older model blue van with front-end damage and it's missing a hub cap on the left side. you are asked to call the pasco county sheriff's office if you know anything about this van or see anything suspicious. a man is dead after he was

the sheriff says there was no other choice because the man lunged at deputies are knives. we find news channel 8's ryan hughes early this morning. ryan, were deputies hurt in this? >> reporter: gene, good morning to you once again. we are told by the sheriff no deputies were hurt even though it was a tense situation inside that home. that's where the man was shot and killed after he expressed his desire for suicide by cop. and let's go to video of the scene right now. we're told a woman called 911 around 9:00 p.m. to report that her boyfriend assaulted her. the man claimed he wanted them to kill him. he stayed indoors for several hours and attempts by negotiators to lure him outside failed. s.w.a.t. members found him in a bathroom. and the man came at deputies with some knives. they tazed him but he didn't go down. and one deputy shot and killed the man and emergency crews tried to revive him but no no avail. here's what the sheriff had to say. >> these are the hard things that law enforcement go through every day. while people were sleeping

your pasco deputies were out here protect thing you. >> reporter: here's another live look at the scene and you can see a number of deputies in front of the home right now. the suspect and victim's names haven't been released at this hour. and the sheriff says the suspect has a lengthy criminal history kateing back to the1990s --history dating back to the 1990s. isis out of the northern city. the iraq prime minister wants to retake the last city isis controls in the city. forces have surrounded the city supported by air strikes from coalition forces including the u.s. more than 5,000 isis fighters remain in the town and some say they are digging in for a fight to the bitter end. north korea claims they'll not stop testing nuclear missiles. a senior official told nbc news

that. >> reporter: tampa international airport has been focusing on expanding non-stop international travel. >> we have increased the international non-stops over the last five years. we have a doubling of international passengers. >> reporter: and explains making domestic travel more convenient isn't only up to airport management. >> the airline has to know that the numbers aring to make sense and the plane is going to be and the plane is going --the numbers are going to make sense and the plane is going to be full. >> usually it's pretty good. just do some research. people have to take the time to do it. >> you got to do your homework. looking ahead to the holiday travel season, to get to where you're going faster, first, suggested that you look at the smaller airlines. they'll get you from regional airports faster without making the stop. and make the sacrifice, book a flight at a less desirable time.

morning. looking from a million watt radar, that's max defender 8 and right now scanning the skies over central florida and we are we're in good shape this morning. good news in the weather department here. a few thunderstorms out near cape canaveral but they'll have a hard time making it to our area later today. 70 for plant city and lakeland. and a mild 71 this morning in tampa. the numbers, once again, above average. we're going to get and even your morning lows are going to the stay fairly warm. the average low is 68 but we're going to hit 71 later on today. and long-term, the temperature trend over the next eight day, huge changes coming our way. and right now, aanother check of traffic with leslee lacey -- right now, another check of traffic with leslee lacey. just congestion through ybor city, about eight minutes now. veterans expressway, still up to speed there.

many people were talking about that while watching the debate. well, trump called the skit, quote, a hit job on me. comedian amy schumer is known for her controversial comments and she is in hot water over political statements she made on stage while in tampa last night. we are live at amalie arena where the comedian performed. hundreds of people walked out last night. what happened? >> reporter: well, this has a social media on both sides of skit. it started when amy schumer pulled a male fan on stage here at amalie arena last night. and when a video up loaded to the video, she is seen pulling the the fan on stage and asked him why he was voting for trump. after that, she went on a political rant bashing donald trump and that's when some fans started booing and walking out. this isn't the first time she has stirred up controversy in tampa. she called our city horrendous

now the comedian comments last night ignited a firestorm on social media with some calling schumer, quote, nastier than trump has ever been. and some thanked her to be brave enough to speak her mind. and now political statements are nothing new for the comedian. she is distantly related to democratic senator chuck schumer from new york and has been an outspoken supporter of gun control, candace. >> yeah, never short on words for sure. thank you. and a new poll shows hillary rodham clinton's lead expanding. the nbc wall street journal poll shows clinton with 48% right now. and trump 11 points behind. and gary johnson got 7%. and the green party candidate

overall, a dry outlook and the rain chances on the low side. and the warmth continues as well. temperatures above average for the highs and lows. next weekend, a significant push of cool, dry air. hour-by-hour, the numbers climb into the low 80s by noon today. and we top off around 87, that's still above average. the long range forecast. the pattern not changing much the next few days but once the cold front slides through late friday and early saturday, that will usher in cool, autumn air. and the numbers look like this, 87 today and tomorrow. and we will start to get back to the normal by friday. and then below average, way below average. especially by sunday and monday. we will have highs in the upper 70s. and wake-up temperatures, low to mid-60s. >> i can't believe. i'm so excited. i like the 70s this time of year. yeah. let's take a look at

>> right now, a man is shot after he was shot by a pasco county deputy. the sheriff says it began when the man assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. he told deputies he wasn't going down without a fight and wanted to be killed by police. news channel 8's ryan hughes is live along blue jay drive in holiday, ryan, a tense morning for deputies. >> reporter: gene, good morning to you. investigators have been coming and going from this home all morning long. deputies finally moved in and explained the man came at them wi let's go to video of the scene right now. the woman the man's girlfriend called 911 around 9:00 p.m. to report that the boyfriend assaulted her. when deputies arrive, the man claimed he wanted the deputies to kill him. attempts to lure him outside failed. s.w.a.t. members found the man in a bathroom. the sheriff says the man came at deputies with knives as i mentioned. one deputy shot and killed the man. emergency crews tried to revive him but to no avail.

>> it is very sad that he wanted suicide by cop but that was his intentions. so let me make that very clear, his actions dibbing kateed our he did --actions dictating our reactions. we wanted a peaceful resolution. he did not. >> reporter: the suspect and victim's names have not been released at this hour. the sheriff said the woman involved in this, gene, she should physically be okay. the suspect has a criminal historth 1990s. >> must have been an unsettling night for the community out there. thank you. this morning a holiday neighborhood is on edge after a depression opened up nearby. the hole is about 15 feet wide. a representative for the holiday travel park claims the property owner knows about the hole and is working to get it filled. this isn't the first time the neighborhood has dealt with a depression or sinkhole. this is from eagle 8 hd in november 2014. the circle shows where a sinkhole opened up and

across the street, the second circle is where a depression opened up shortly after that. and circle number three is where the latest depression is. the three are within feet of each other. a driver is lucky to be alive after this dramatic crash and rescue. good samaritans working together to pull this man to safety. a closer view of this. this played along dixie highway in palm bay when the driver lost control of the suv and flew down a steep embankment. he was pulled out of the vehicle just moments before it completely caught fire. >> get up here now! please, hurry! >> he's above us. >> dear god, they got him out. >> get up this hill! >> jesus, lord. >> get out of the car. >> in jesus' name. >> frantic moments there. paramedics took that man to the hospital and he only suffered

well, pasco county deputies are searching for a driver by by shooter. this happened at a holiday home. witnesses claim a car stopped and the people inside and began shooting. deputies have not released a description of the car. early damage estimates from hurricane matthew are in and it's extreme, $1.5 billion. fors estimate it damaged 100,000 homes, businesses other buildings. some terrifying moments off the coast of california when you see the boat with a family onboard capsizing. you see the vessel flip over in the water. this happened north of los angeles. two surfers saw what happened and they jumped into action. they were able to put the children on their boards until help arrived. the good news, no one was hurt. investigators are now trying to figure out why the boat capsized. a member of the u.s. navy is facing charges after he

four people died and nine others were injured. cellphone video from the scene in san diego helping those injured. the driver is now facing various charges. run over by a fire truck. that's what happened to a student at the university of connecticut. investigators say the 19-year- old was sitting on the ground with her back against the garage bay door when the fire department received a call. they girl fell to the ground and fire truck rolled over here and she died the. the firefighter who was driving is now on administrative leave. the teenaged daughter of an olympic athlete is killed in a restaurant shooting. the 15-year-old daughter of the runner and olympic medalist was shot and killed sunday morning. it happened in kentucky. police believe the teen was an innocent victim as two groups of men started shooting at each other. police are questioning several

interstate. much busier southbound 275. what you are looking at the bush boulevard and starting to get busy around bearss and into downtown tampa southbound. that's typical. this is on camera right now. a little bit of slow and go traffic from the new tampa area, southbound on 75. and slowing now beginning as you leave the plant city area westbound on i-4. and we have an accident that's tying up the u.s. 41, approaching state road 54. you are backed up. keep that in mind. and delays everywhere but northbound. and actually even a little bit of slowing northbound. but the big issue, southbound. it will take over half an hour to travel between state road 52 down to state road 54 due to the crash southbound. and u.s. 19 starting to get busier. and when we come back, we will look at i-4 and the bay area bridges. that's weather and traffic on the 8s. back to candace and gene. >> thank you.

this morning, a gop office in north carolina fire bombed an searching for the culprits. this happened in hillsborough which is just outside of raleigh. someone flew a flammable liquid through the window starting a fire. no one was hurt. republican presidential candidate donald trump is outraged and blaming hillary rodham clinton supporters. and wikileaks released more emails lacked from the clinton campaign. the emails discuss how clinton could do a better job apologizing for the private

time home in holiday, the man was barricaded in a bathroom. they shot and killed the man. investigators have not released the man's name or the deputy who fired the fatal shot. a warning for parents about a suspicious man driving a van. deputies are on the lookout for the man who approached a 15- year-old girl and tried to get her to crawl inside and. this happened in holiday. deputies describe the van as an older model, blue with fr hub cap. and a possible sinkhole in a holiday neighborhood plagued with problems. the most recent hole in the travel park off u.s. 19 is about 15 feet wide. now we're told the park owner is working with crews to fix it. two years ago, a sinkhole opened up across the street and swallowed a car. still about a half hour away from the official sunrise but clogger on the horizon. that's a view from the lakeland auto mall in polk county where it is 69 degrees.
