today. i'm melanie michael. let's get started with leigh spann. obviously not finding any rain. barely a cloud out there. not quite as cool as yesterday but it's really nice. 57 in lakeland and auburndale. look at this, chilly in inverness at 46. zephyrhills, 53. you see the 24 hour temperature change. about five to eight degrees warmer right now than 81 in the afternoon with sunshine. in weather and traffic on the 8s at 4:38, i will take you eight days into the future to show you how nice it's going to stay. we have a good drive. earlier, we had issues but they have cleared up. wonderful drive through down the town tampa. and we had a fatal accident eastbound on the selmon expressway. it was taking up lanes but at last check, i did not see anything on the cameras. in fact, i'm going to take a

selmon expressway. i had blinking lights earlier and that has cleared. and then also the sunshine skyway bridge where we do have a little bit of action. it's just overnight construction taking up the left lane here northbound before the hump. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to gayle and melanie. it is what everyone is talking about this morning, in your vote, republican presidential nominee donald trump continues his tour of florida with a stop in the rally with thousands of supporters tonight. and it comes just 15 days before election day. ryan hughes is live with us. trump is making a big push in the swing state. >> reporter: good morning to you. florida as always is a crucial state when it comes to the outcome of the election and that's why hillary clinton and donald trump are devoting time

newsroom with everything you need to know before you go to the polls. >> reporter: that's right. seven tampa bay area counties begin early voting today at 7:00 a.m. the polls will open in hillsborough, polk county and pinellas county. hernando and citrus counties as well. and at 8:00 and a.m., polls open in manatee county and then at 8:30, the polls open in sarasota county. hardee, actually that's a mistakement my hardee begins later this week. -- mistake. my bad there. hardee begins later this week. now here's what you need to bring with you. a valid photo id such as a driver's license, passport, military or student id. now if your picture id doesn't have your signature on it, you will need additional identification with the signature and that can be a debit or credit card.

updated, including your address. if you have moved to a new home or a new county within florida, notify the supervisor of elections in your new county and you can do all of that updating online. there is a list of all voting locations and times on our website, and in the last presidential election, 28% of florida's ballots were cast at early voting sites. absentee voters. that means more than half of the florida votes were cast already in advance of election day. melanie -- >> it cuts down on the lines. >> reporter: absolutely. >> always a good idea. thank you. in early voting, more republicans than democrats have cast mail-in or absentee ballots so far in north carolina. in north carolina, republicans have cast 2% more ballots than democrats. and while the numbers look good

15 days until election day and things could change. new this morning, two overnight crashes including one that is causing some lane closures on the lee roy selmon expressway. investigators say the crash happened on the upper deck just before midnight. one person died. investigators shut down the eastbound lanes. that the hour, they are still closed. the other deadly crash happened on the tampa side of the gandy bridge. police tell us a motorcycle and vehicle collided in eastbound lanes. the motorcyclist died. we are waiting on police to release more information. well, the time right now is 4:38. and boy, it's refreshing. i come back to cold air. >> just refreshing is a good word. yesterday morning i would say it was a little chilly and now we're several degrees warmer so just in the refreshing category. let me take you hour-by-hour and show you how quickly it warms up. 60 degrees at 7:00 a.m. 67 at 10:00. by noon, 74.

i mean the perfect weather to get outside, blue skies. this time of year is awesome. and we're close to average for late october. we will see a gradual increase in temperatures and humidity through the end of the week but it's gradual. not much rain. only slim rain chances starting on thursday. and emoji man says this is a a aokay hang -- is a-okay. leslee has a check on the traffic situat construction over there. it's overnight construction. let's go ahead and take a look. we're heading northbound. and you can see there's some flashing lights there. that's because they have the left lane taken away. as you move across that sunshine skyway bridge, you are going to see a little bit of construction on the northbound side. everything is getting by just fine. should be wrapped up in about an hour to an hour and a half. fortunately, no delays. meanwhile, a great drive on the sun coast parkway.

that's a look at weather and traffic on the 8s. back to melanie and gayle. happening today the, the trial of a local rapper caught on camera kicking a fan begins today with jury selection. kevin gates is facing a battery charge for this video. it shows him in lakeland at a concert last summer kicking a woman. gates claims it is self defense because the woman was tugging on his pants. a man accused of killing a local teacher and seriously injuring another is headed to court today. bryce mccloud is a pretrial hearing. he is facing dui manslaughter charges. investigators claim he was driving drunk when he ran a red light and hit a car in pinellas park. a music teacher died in the crash. her friend who teaches music in hillsborough county was seriously injured. he is recovering and is expected to return to work soon. well, some relief at the gas pump for drivers. >> still ahead, just how much gas prices are dropping and you

happening today, a special meeting in st. petersburg to get to the bottom of the sewage spill scandal. news channel 8's mary mcguire is live in st. pete. mary, the mayor was furious when he found out the report on waste water was never shared with his office or city council. >> reporter: he certainly was. this information should ha back in july before hurricane matthew hit. it warned of sewage issues during heavy rainfall. now this all resulted -- [ breaking audio ]. >> reporter: millions of gallons of waste water was released into tampa bay after the hurricane. a report warned of sewage spills if the city closed the treatment plant. the plant did close but st. pete's mayor and city council claim they never saw the

st. pete mayor claimed the warnings were ignored. >> somebody wasn't paying attention. i'm not going to blame the administration or city council, somebody wasn't paying attention. >> reporter: now the head of the city's northwest water treatment plant who revealed this has filed for protection under the federal whistle blower act in light of this mess. in all, more than 148 million- gallons of waste water was dumped into the bay. things get underway at answers for both residents and city leaders that could clean up this mess. >> i know a lot of people have a lot of questions. thank you, mary. there are questions also this morning about the megamerger between at&t and time warner. it's an $85 billion deal and it would bring together at&t's wireless, broad band and satellite services with time warner properties with hbo and cnn. two members of the anti-trust

the deal raises anti-trust issues. drivers are saving money at the pump. that's good news this morning. the average price of gasoline has dropped. four cents a gallon in the past two weeks. it's the first time in two months that prices have dropped. the average price of regular unledded is $2.25 a gallon. -- unleaded is $2.25 a gallon. headlines across america this morning, today we expect to learn more about a de california. it killed 13 people and injured 31 others. it happened when a passenger bus collided with a tractor- trailer along i-10 in palm springs. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the crash but early reports indicate speed was indeed a factor. the bus was on the way to los angeles at the time of the crash. a disturbing story of animal hording and abuse in nevada. two women are accused of

vegas. investigators claim they found hundreds of animals in horrible conditions. in several case, dogs were found in crates that were so small that they couldn't even move around. hopefully they get a home soon. but more than 100 animals had to be euthanized. an animal foundation is working hard to treat the remaining animals. the women are facing charges and under house arrest. an adult caught on camera punching an elementary student look at this video. it shows a man walking down the hall. and out of nowhere, he punches a little boy in the stomach. you can see the poor little 7- year-old all slumped over there. the little boy is okay but he doesn't understand why the man would hit him. so far the man has not explained his actions. that's horrible. what a bully. all right. seconds away from 4:48. leigh, how is it looking?

and that's gradually going to increase the humidity. just gradually. and going to warm us up too. we will be in the mid-80s by thursday with only 10% rain chances. 81 today. 83 tomorrow. and then up to 85 wednesday and thursday, leslee. all right, looking at the roads right now. as we have been telling you, there's this fatal accident eastbound on the selmon expressway right near falkenburg road. and traffic is moving well. we have activity here. closer to 301. is actually blocked there. looks like it's actually part of the exit. so keep that in mind. but most of the activity from the crash has cleared. and you can still get by here on the selmon expressway on the upper deck. meanwhile, a great drive on i-4 through ybor city. and veterans expressway, up to speed as well. look at the sunshine skyway bridge. they have already cleared that construction that i showed you that was taking up the left lane. usually it's cleared closer to 6:00 but it's gone right now. great drive on the sunshine

on this monday, time for weather and traffic on the 8s. and boy, do i have good news for you. this say live look out of the wfla towercamera over the hillsborough river. a cool but comfortable 62 degrees. the dew point is 52 which means it has creeped up a little bit. making it feel comfortable all day. lots of sunshine, high of 81. a bit warmer tonight. notice we only drop down to 36 degrees but that's still below average. i'll let you know how much warmer through the rest of the week and when rain chances return coming up. how about traffic on the 8s? all right, so we have a problem here on selmon expressway. it's eastbound. you can see activity to the left. this is an entrance ramp as well. and we have reportedly this fatal accident here. let me zoom in, it's wrapping
