and of course tonight beginning on news channel 8 at 11. thousands of mammogram records sitting somewhere in pinellas county after a popular mammogram center close last year. investigator shannon behnken has worked for weeks to get their files back and today tracked down the former medical director for his star of the store. >> reporter: it has been nearly a year since brandon's women diagnostic center abruptly closed and a growing number of women are turning to me for help getting their records back. sender owner john parker the third tells me he locks the records in a storage facility in pinellas county. he admits he is overwhelmed. he meets some women with records, others hear nothing. state officials tell me someone else is responsible for the files.
lynwood henry. i spent the day trying to track him down and finally found him at a new job. >> you don't feel you are responsible? >> correct. >> reporter: he actually has a pretty good explanation. state health officials least -- list dr. henry as last medical director of women's diagnostic but he left the company in march 2015, seven months before the sender shut its doors. a new medical director was never listed with the state. >> the state may have had my name as medical director but i was not working at the time. >> does that responsibility leave you with your employment? >> a question. >> reporter: henry tells me he feels terrible about what happened to his former patients' records but is not happy his name is anywhere near this debacle. >> did you know that he had these records somewhere? >> at some point in time they contacted me and he had stated
