brother and sister on their way to school. jorge and melanie laura were not far from school when they were hit and killed. this accident happened here at highway 27. >> reporter: it is really heartbreaking keith. the accident happened right over here in this intersection. and we have learned it doesn't appear that either driver was speeding or distracted. it is just >> mother heard the crash. she came out and saw the vehicle and went up the street. when she saw what had happened she passed out. >> reporter: two of their children's lives ended tragically. brother and sister. 18-year-old jorge and his sister 15-year-old melanie. >> it is horrible. it is just horrible.
an aerial view in frostproof. it happened at 6:00 this morning. as jorge pulled out of his neighborhood onto highway 27, they were hit by a chevy silverado. investigators believe he never saw it coming. his parents always worried about it. >> they told him to watch going out there. it is horrible trying to get out. it just really is. it is just heartbreaking. >> reporter: the teens attended frost proof high school. jorge was getting ready we are told he had just started working to buy his cap and gown. now instead of a celebration, the family must grieve. >> we think of them every day. >> reporter: and the community whose lives they touched. >> i watched them grow up. both of them. they were good kids. very good kids. >> reporter: you can see a cross has been placed here at

a florida congresswoman says the blame squarely lays on the shoulders of governor rick scott. >> gwynn graham says it is bad enough the state failed to notify mosaic's neighbors that radioactive water threatened their wells. the state is thumbing its nose at the law. >> reporter: until they turn over records we won't know who to believe about what. now, the governor claims he was kept in the dark about that sink hole until our first report really? when the state refuses to give us records showing who knew what and when, my challenge to you, governor, prove it. someone is holding up the release of state records about the bright idea of keeping the information of this sink hole secret. congresswoman gwynn graham lays the blame on governor rick scott's crew. >> we have gotten nothing. >> reporter: graham's office

gotten hurt here. this sand hill crane is in trouble. it has a broken leg and its life is in danger. so, justin matthews is determined to save it. he runs matthews wildlife rescue and he has made it his mission to save these animals but earlier this week, there was one he couldment save. on tuesday, this sand hill crane was found with bullet holes next to a home. it had been shot at least three >> it was just the bird just laying. and, its mate was walking around, just looked distraught. all upset. >> reporter: minutes later, jennifer mathis has taken photos of the bird in her backyard. now it was shot to death right outside her child's window. >> who is to say they missed whatever they are shooting at and shoot my kid or dog or the neighbor's kid.
