>> reporter: gayle, good morning to you. he is certain to pounce on hillary clinton for this issue when he speaks here at clearwater aviation later today and it's an issue for clinton that never seems to go away. and now overnight, the united states department of justice obtained a search warrant for the computer. it belongs to anthony weiner, the disgraced former congress man and the husband of clinton's top aide. the fbi director announced the find in a letter on friday saying it could be pertinent to the investigation. trump's team is elated. >> we have seen emails that have come out through various sources about pay to play politics that support this notion of clinton incorporated that are deeply troubling to millions of americans.

much of the candidates and the running mates is because the tampa bay area is important to this election. historically, whoever carries hillsborough county tends to win it all. the county's majority vote has correctly predicted the winner 19 out of the last 20 presidential elections. our meredyth censullo is now in the news center with more on why this part of the state is so critical. >> reporter: well, gene, of republican, democrats and independents makes it one to watch. so far, more than 232,000 ballots have been cast in hillsborough county. democrats lead republicans in voter turn-out by 17%. a closer look at the numbers here, just over 86,000 republicans have voted compared to about 100,000 democrats. that's a difference of more

man deplorable. and she added she would have had him removed immediately. right now, polk deputies are searching for a hit-and-run driver that left a tampa woman dead and a deputy severely injured. the driver hit a tree on state road 60. she flagged down a deputy for help. now while waiting for more emergency crews, another driver hit the deputy and the driver and then sped off. she later died at the hospital. sh her family told us she was a single mom holding two jobs to support her two kids. >> this is the second one that i lost in this month. my son passed away the second of this month. now my daughter. in the same month. too much for me. >> the sheriff's office doesn't have any information about the suspect vehicle.

injured in a drunk driving crash that took the life of his beloved girlfriend. and today he will return to work in hillsborough county. news channel 8's mary mcguire joins us now live from shaw elementary school where he worked as an elementary school a music teacher. the road to recovery has been tough for him. >> reporter: not only has he had to endure weeks of physical recovery, but emotional recovery. now the two were driving home from the movies on august 14th pinellas park police say bryce mccloud was impaired when he hit the couple on the 4000 block of park boulevard. the couple was rushed to the hospital where she passed away from her injuries. today he will go back to teaching music which was the inspiration that brought these two together. >> really sweet, gentle soul. the best way i describe her. and it's going back to work, i
>> reporter: now since the crash, he has been advocating against drunk driving and will participate in the mothers against drunk driving 5k dash in november. he and his parents have created a team to honor the life of caroline sign. the driver, bryce mccloud, he was charged with dui manslaughter. this morning he is still being held in the pinellas county jail. when you listen the to him speak, it's inspiring made this sort of recovery in a short amount of time. we certainly wish him the best as he returns to work this morning. >> absolutely. and to see that he has turned this into a teaching opportunity as well, to teach about the dangers of drinking and driving, of course, not surprised because he is a teacher. mary, thank you. the fda has approved several new cures for people fighting chronic diseases but patients cannot afford the drugs and insurance companies

costumes scaring entire communities. last week, two men were arrested for threatening and chasing people while dressed as clowns. a 3-year-old boy is recovering after a television fell on him. it happened in hudson. the pasco county sheriff's office tells us the tv fell off a dresser. we are making calls this morning to get an update on the boy's condition. a clearwater man is facing charges for breaking into the florida holocaust museum. investigators found him inside and the st. petersburg museum when they arrived to check out an alarm. st. pete police claim surveillance video shows him kicking and breaking an electronic key pad and call box. however, police say nothing else was damaged and nothing is missing. breaking news, emergency crews in china are trying to

and was believed to be carrying an ak-47. well, jury selection begins today in the murder trial of a white former south carolina police officer accused of shooting walter scott, an unarmed black man. the jury will have to decide if the former officer is guilty of murder. he shot scott back in april 2015 after pulling him over for a broken taillight. he faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted. well it's like winter in some parts of the country. can you believe it? >> look at that. >> this is northern california. several inches of wet, heavy snow fell on the mountains. and that caused roads to be pretty slippery. you can see one guy getting towed off. >> yeah, never had to drive in that. i can't imagine it's fun though. >> no. let's get a check on our weather. nothing like that here, of course. >> and i've also never tried to drive in anything like that.
