we've got a good drive starting off nicely but a couple little issues here over in tarpon springs, an again seeing a little bit of a southbound slow down on 19 right at tarpon avenue. so be aware of that and that crash apparently has injures, a little bit of police activity this morning is from an officer-involved crash that had minor injuries. now, you can get by and it's been cleared off to the side but a little bit of police activity might still be remaining the meanwhile sarasota a little bit construction northbound i-75 around university but you can still get by. in an 8 on your side alert parents heading out to scoop up christmas gifts won't find one riding toy on store shelves. >> reportedly it burst into flames in the back of a truck you see it here. all that smoke coming from the back of the truck, well now toys "r" us is pulling this toy off of shelves.
have caused the fire? >> well the company claims that they're working with the manufacturer of that toy to find out exactly what happened, but they don't know what caused that fire just yet. grandparents in washington state scored a truck from toys "r" us as a christmas presented on friday night but it apparently burst into flames as they headed home. listen to them as they explain what happened. . >> sparks and smoke coming from inside the box, like fire, like it was hot, we got to pull we pulled over, flames start shooting. . >> now, the couple did call 911, a trooper who arrived on scene tried to put out the fire, but the flames were too intense. when the fire department put out the fire this is all that was left of the truck. luckily no one was hurt. now, toys "r" us did respond by issuing an apology to that couple and did recall that toy both from stores and online. they do believe
incident for now but a warning for parents as they go out christmas shopping especially we're just a couple of days away from black friday. . >> yeah, and there could be a lot of upset kids come christmas time if they don't get the toy they wanted but safety first. thank you. right now a new rash of violence against police officers, this weekend 4 police officers in different states including florida were shot. the most recent in kansas city where information is just coming in. we're told an officer was shot during a traffic s the suspect was also shot. in texas a detective was writing a traffic ticket in his car just outside police headquarters when a suspect shot and killed him. police released this picture of the man they say walked up to the detective's car and open fire. . he was 50 years old, a 20-year veteran of the force and a father of 2. early this morning st. louis police shot and killed a man
he was driving in his car when someone pulled up next to him and fired at least 2 shots. the officer is in critical condition but expected to survive. hours later police got into a shoot out with the suspect killing him. closer to home a police officer shot in southwest floor. the officer had pulled someone over when a passing driver opened fire on him. the officer was rushed to the hospital where he was treated an released. police have arrested that driver after a shoot out. no w motive. happening today another round of meetings involving president elect donald trump and potential candidates to join his team. it comes after a flurry of meetings this past weekend with nearly 2-dozen prominent republicans. one of them 2012 republican presidential nominee mitt romney who has criticized trump in the past. >> we had a far-reaching conversation with

>> yeah, it's been going on for quite some time. there are some new developments on the one of a kind project and we have an update. >> it is called the diverging diamond interchange and the name itself strikes up curiosity with construction over halfway complete i hit the road. the new southbound # 5 lanes are now open on diverging diamond interchange. how is it going to help out drivers? >> it's going to help because we're increasing our capacity, we're eliminating a lot of conflict lanes which are the let turn movements which a majority of the accidents happen. the pattern is more right turns than it is left turns. >> at this point crews are installing sound walls, storm water drainage and reconstructing 75. but what is next? where i'm standing right
but now they have to build the northbound side. so before christmas that bridge here with vehicles traveling across it will temporarily change directions and they will start building the northbound lanes. and drivers will eventually see university parkway temporarily shift, the goal of this $75 million face lift is to have it operational before the world rowing competition. >> when will it be completely finished? >> completely finished well, we're hoping to deadline. >> and for added incentive there's a $5 million contractor bonus for finishing roughly a month early. when complete this interchange will be the largest in the nation. the interchange has additional safety features it will be more pedestrian friendly with shorter crossing and entering ramps the wrong way will be a very difficult thing to do. aside from a few weather delays the project is running on schedule.
