for the record, last night's numbers were 2, 11, 47, 62, 63 and the powerball, 17. all right. so now moving on to a serious weather situation that's developing on the west coast. >> and there's so many different things they're dealing with, flooding, tornado, mudslides and swamped highways from a series of storms clobbering the coast. el nino slamming california. >> i lived here about a year. this is about as crazy as it's gotten. >> reporter: the surf causing concern. raging waters surround a van. a man in a tractor coming to the rescue pulling two women to safety through the window. this morning, in pasadena a large home on the verge of disaster giving way as mudslides down the hillside. >> we already prepared everything so in case we have to leave. so far we stay around but it
i don't know if we'll be safe. >> the l.a. river back to life and raging again. abc's matt gutman is there. >> reporter: this is the l.a. river normally just a trickle of water in a concrete canyon but pushing 150 times its average amount of water. >> near santa cruz buildings damaged from a rare tornado and off the coast of san diego, twin waterspouts spinning over the pacific. some amazing images coming from southern california and the latest radar pictures showing that rain is not letting up yet. a wave of storms nearly the entire length of the state of california is marching relentlessly eastward with the heaviest rains today and the extreme southern parts of that state. well, there are widespread doubts about north korea's claim of a hydrogen bomb test. experts think it was another type of nuclear device but still has the international community upset with north korea. even china, its closest ally.
>> reporter: not likely a hydrogen bomb. that's the latest word from the intelligence community. this south korean lawmaker saying a hydrogen bomb should have registered at least 50 kilotons of power. >> it looks like this was more around 6 or 7 kelly ton ill kilitons. >> reporter: a hydrogen bomb bomb is a thousand types more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on nagasaki or here iroshima hiroshima. the international condemnation has been swift. the united nations security council holding an emergency meeting and even their closest ally, china, rebukes north korea. the u.s. immediately launched nuclear sniffer and surveillance planes to help determine what was tested and how the u.s. should respond. >> we will continue to work, believe it or not, with the
community to continue to make it so that it become s s an increasingly higher price for being the one nation in the world out of the world. >> reporter: but to be clear even if this was a lesser device, it is still believed to be the fourth time since 2006 that north korea has tested a nuclear bomb. kayna, kendis. >> all right, lana zak reporting for us from washington, d.c., thank you so much. we have the story breaking overnight. another automatic shutdown of china's main stock marc, the shanghai index was down more than 7%, not because of north korea, by the way but because china's central bank again devalued the currency. investors see it as another sign of problems in china's economy. u.s. stocks are set to open sharply lower in just a few hours. back-to-back earthquakes rattled oklahoma and nearby states last night. they were centered just south of the border with kansas and felt in that state, as well as texas.
