police. >> reporter: for many commuters their morning routine changed in an instant today with gunfire outside the forest hills t stop on the orange line. it happened during the heart of rush hour when people were going to work. police say it started as a fight inside the station and spilled outside with gunfire back and forth between two groups. witnesses told police five shots were fired. investigators told fox 25 they arrested two people even recovered one gun used in the shooting. >> boston police commissioner william evans told me today he's very troubled by this morning's shootig. >> think our biggest problem young kids now have no value for human life they just fire regardless of who they might hit. we averted a tragedy today. >> reporter: investigators also tell fox 25 this was not a random fight but instead possibly gang
but for daily commuters like kimberly shaw it only adds to concern. >> that i know that other incidents have gone on i don't like it but i know that they have happened. >> reporter: transit police say what happened today could have been so much worse. >> officers get use extreme restraint not returning fire because there were so many pedestrians and cars around at that time. >> reporter: amazingly no one was hurt today. as for those suspects i've been talking with transit police station all day long. they do not anticipate releasing those names until monday when they are in court to face the charges. in jamaica plain, blair miller fox 25 news. police arrested a student in western massachusetts today after finding a gun in a school locker there. according to berkshire eagal small caliber pistol and clip of bullets were discovered at the school. students were forced to shelter in place until scene there. a short investigation led officers to the student involved but officers did
not disclose what charges that student might face. massachusetts public health officials say a suffolk county woman is in the ninth person to contract west nile virus in the state this year. the department of public health said the unidentified patient is in her 30s and locally. the woman reportedly did not require hospitalization. public health officials say risk is not higher because of the most recent case. public works crews are still working on a busted water main in manchester by the sea. the rupture happened at 10:00 this morning at school in central streets and was still breaking news on tonight's 5:00 p.m. newscast. police say water service was cut off to the whole town. but tonight they have learned service has been restored to most of the town. officials are still trying to figure out how the water main broke. parts of that line are more than 100 years old. the state lost its bid today to appoint its own expert to evaluate philip chism. on thursday a judge ordered the suspected teenage killer to undergo another mental health evaluation at a hospital in worcester.
