and after 5:00 rain was flooding the road. 7:00, everybody, welcome to the fox25 morning news, i'm gene lavanchy. >> sara: i'm sara underwood. we have team of reporters. julie grauert and daniel miller will be tracking at roads and shiri is looking at weather and go. >> shiri: we have another hour to go of most intense rain we will have to watch very closely for the potential of flooding and even some thunderstorms. this is focused across the cape and down to the vineyard, temps are in the 60s, guys. this is warm but also very wet, very windy, this is where you need to be most caucus on the roads this morning. into the boston area, it is still raining but it is going to be more of moderate rain and you can see it is broken up in a lot of spots like randolph, weston, tewksbury right now over to the worcester area where we have

this is your last batch of rain before we start to dry out and we will do that as we enter the early afternoon hours with temperatures rising all the way up to about 70 later this afternoon. let's turn you over to julie grauert with live drive time traffic. julie, i think the worst is done for boston right now. >> julie: that is good news and hopefully get into the normal rhythm of the commute and waiting for several accidents to clear 95 on foxborough, 140 delays stretching into north attleboro and attleboro past 123 we shift up closer to town, new accident to report this is on the expressway northbound near freeport street, you can see the volume very heavy and steady on the expressway northbound right now. live drive time 35 minutes and 29123 to 128 and 25 minutes on 95 as you approach 128. sara and gene, back to you.

>> sara: daniel miller has been out on the roads all morning tracking the progress. >> gene: right now daniel joins us live from brockton along route 124. >> daniel: that's right between 24 north heading north toward 93. we just drove through a band of heavy rain so what you're seeing now is residual of what's -- of that traffic is backed up in this direction going north on 24 as they vehicles head up to 93. the rain has stopped for now but you can see the roads are still wet have the glare from the headlights from the cars here. if you're heading out give yourself some extra time at least time to get to where you're going. reporting live, daniel miller, fox25 news. >> sara: no time to clean up from the storm as rain continues to fall and seen strong winds and brought down trees from jamaica plain to danvers.

fox25 jessica reyes continues the live team coverage in danvers with look of damage on the north shore. good morning, jess. >> jessica: good morning, sara well last night a big maple tree fell and hit the porch here and in front of the home is a tree stump from that tree when the car passes you could see it but the tree was on a very busy road here and see it is a pretty busy intersection and homeowner says she is actually pretty thankful it is gone now. >> all of a sudden we heard this crash. we didn't know what the heck it was. >> jessica: mother nature interrupts the family. storm that toppled the tree directly on to her property. she ran outside with her daughters and her boyfriend to find this huge maple tree had crashed down on to her porch roof and boyfriend's truck. worst of the damage to the hood and windshield. it stood on property right in front of her home saying it was dead and rotten.

happen and worried someone was going to get hurt. >> jessica: her home is situated at busy intersection of doppler and maple street and asked the city to take it down. >> somebody sitting at stop sign it could have been deadly. >> jessica: despite the headache of cleaning up the mess, her daughter says it has been a blessing in disguise. >> it has been there so long and rotting so long we never thought it was going to come down. >> jessica: she is thankful everyone is okay and she and her family are back in their home this morning. >> thank god nobody was hurt. we can always replace the vehicles and fix the house. >> jessica: all right. you can see the rain is continuing to come down here in danvers but flooding not really an issue and, however, you can see pretty good number of leaves here on the road this morning, certainly going to make for a slippery ride into work and definitely going to keep that in mind as you're heading in this morning, live in danvers, jessica reyes, fox25 news. >> gene: fox25 will keep you

updated all morning long and track of the storm and possible roadways and track the weather once you leave the house on the fox25 weather app. it is free on apple or android device. shiri is back later with a complete update. >> sara: heart of boston two people attacked outside of a popular tourist spot. this happened on hanover street which is near faneuil hall and quincy market. fox25 michael henrich is live there now and, michael, this is an area where a large amount of security cameras. >> michael: that's right. a major tourist spot a block away from faneuil hall, this is hanover street and talking about the area outside the point tavern here. now, these surveillance cameras surely are all around, i reached out to boston police department to determine what role they will play in the investigation, if any, and, of course, whether they are able to release any of that video to the public at this point. as soon as i hear back on that, i, of course, will let you know

so far. it was about five, six hours ago early this morning when police on scene told our crews that one man was punched in the face and another person was stabbed in the neck. stabbing victim ended up getting taken to mass general hospital. that person's condition haven't been released just yet. i threw a lot of questions at boston police trying to get updated information, includes asking about that victim, whether that person is expected to be okay. also, of course, any time something violent like this happens we all want to know whether the person suspected of that violence is off the streets so i have asked the question as well, it is still early in the day, of course, as soon as i hear back from boston police i will bring you that update. live in boston, michael henrich, fox25 news. >> gene: we are also following developing news in west bridgewater, a person is hurt after being hit by a truck. this was breaking during the newscast at 11:00 last night. brockton enterprise says the

person was severely injured while crossing north main street the driver of the pickup did stay at the scene. so far police have not released the identity of the victim. gene: new this hour china will no longer restrict the number of children the family can have. it is a major change to deter growth. the government will allow couples in china to have two children. the change comes after growing concerns that china's population was too old. >> sara: this morning a new report shows failures by the department of children and families and investigating the bella bond case. the little girl's body was found on deer island in june. the office of the child advocate says dcf prematurely closed two neglect cases involving bella. the report obtained by fox25 shows bella's mother, rachelle bond, passed arrest and mental

by dcf. >> it is also cleared there were opportunities for further checking especially because of the mixed information that was available and that deeper diplomatic for information did not appear to have occurred. >> sara: in a statement dcf says the issues raised in the report are already being addressed. rachelle bond and her boyfriend, michael mccarthy, face charges in bella's death. >> gene: a worcester school bus driver suspended without pay this morning after a child got off his bus was hit by a car. we have been following this investigation since the story broke on tuesday night. police say the five-year-old kindergarten student got off aa transportation bus on monday and tried to cross this busy street alone. spokesperson says the bus driver is not supposed to let the child off the bus unless there's an adult waiting for them. police are investigating the matter and the five-year-old is back home with a leg injury. >> sara: this morning a brockton mother is accused of

a fight at her daughter's school maria montero and 15-year-old daughter are facing charge for the fight at brockton high. police say two teens were fighting on tuesday. the mother allegedly jumped in, pushed the victim to the ground and slammed her head into the pavement. after a police officer arrived the daughter allegedly pointed a stun gun at the other teen. the mother's boyfriend was also arrested and charged with interfering in a police investigation. >> gene: 7:10 and new detail this morning following the arrest of alleged bank robbers from quincy dubbed new bonnie and clyde and they were able to rescue six of the seven dogs they had in philadelphia. one of the dogs ran off after couple led officers on high-speed chase and is missing. six others are now at shelter. carriers are accused of robbing four banks in four different states. >> sara: this morning the search is on for three thieves caught on camera robbing a local restaurant. you could see the man smash

in lunenburg and under a minute they were able to steal a cash register from hint the bar. sparks fly as they cut it loose. the owner says the thieves caused $5,000 in damage. >> order new window, new computer screen, register, blinds. >> sara: one of the suspects left behind a flashlight which could have dna evidence on it. police hope someone will recognize at least one of the suspects. you can clearly see his face on the video. >> gene: 11 minutes after 7:00 this morning, privacy concern involving thousands of students in the bay state. the technology that could give peek inside private life without them knowing it. >> sara: military blimp comes crashing to the ground in pennsylvania knocking the power out to thousands. next the massachusetts company linked the aircraft in sensitive and expensive wilmington involved in the crash.

on things and pundits calling marco rubio in last night's debate and he was able to distance himself from the pack. >> massachusetts based company that built blimp is not answering questions. the giant unmanned blimp broke free from base in yesterday and floated more than 150 miles before crashing in central pennsylvania. fighter jets were scrambled to follow the blimp which knocked out power to large area as it came down. >> crazy. i didn't know what was going on. we lost our power. mom is calling me saying it landed on your road. >> sara: it is from raytheon and cost more than billion dollars and contains sensitive military information and military team was sent to recover the blimp and return to maryland. >> gene: busy south carolina restaurant is closed this morning.

it was in charleston and 20 people had to be saved from the water and no one was hurt, 120 people were at the restaurant for a private party. officials say there has been heavy surf in that area for the last couple of days. >> julie: red line experiences disabled train from porter northbound seeing minor delays braintree. taking a look at the roads though, this is a new accident on route 3 northbound, at route 18 in weymouth, a little bit of slowing on 24 as you approach 93. 93 south sluggish starting in medford and continuing -- starting in woburn and continuing through medford and also very slow on route 1 in saugus. we will particular you out there to see the wet roads. it is just bumper-to-bumper as you make your way toward lynn fells parkway. here are live drive times. 50 minutes on route 1 from 128 to the tobin bridge.

hour 15 minutes on 93 south from 495 to the leverett connector, 55 minutes 128 on route 1 peabody to the weston tolls. fox25 storm tracker shiri spear has been watching this closely and you're saying the heaviest rain is working its way out by 8:00 a.m. so still have another 45 minutes or so before we have a little bit of break. downpours out between eight and 9:00 a.m. for the cape, after that still got a couple spot showers through the morning hours, damaging gusts also something we have to watch on the cape until the heavy batch of rain pulls away, spot shower this afternoon, and mostly dry forecast but definitely still windy forecast into the second half of the day, wind gusts right now 31 miles per hour hyannis as well as chatham and new bedford, 29 miles per hour gusts in provincetown so as mentioned got to keep close on the cape but winds will start to

ease up now. still got wind advisory until 10:00 a.m. and see winds gusting 20 to 30 miles per hour into the afternoon which is not winds advisory criteria but it is still going to be really breezy if you are going to there during any activity. as well thunderstorm risk going to be elevated across the cape and attached mostly to the rain showers seeing right now so once those exit the area chances are we are just going to have a couple spot showers. not much in the way of severe weather. so satellite and radar we got a second batch of rain working its way out of the connecticut river valley. now moving toward worcester so this is going to be much lighter than the rain that we had last night, earlier this morning and this is going to be the spot showers i was mentioning here through the remainder of the morning. once we hit about lunchtime today though what's going to happen the clouds start to break apart in early afternoon we get this little lull where it turns partly sunny for a little while.

this afternoon and in time for the evening commute, we have just a spot shower passing through boston. this is going to be much more broken up and lighter than the rain we have this morning and going to have far less coverage. a lot of towns and cities make it to the afternoon dry and have to keep an eye on that and kevin lemanowicz going to start tracking showers at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. and future cast here at 8:00 p.m. because clouds breaking apart and pats going to be playing and weather decent. 71 this afternoon and did i mention it is going to be near tropical heat with the tropical downpours today and in lawrence 70, 71 in burlington, 71 in framingham, 69 in shrewsbury and he in mildford, new hampshire and rainy part of that forecast is focused right now and through the morning hours this afternoon as you just saw, going to run mostly dry, even partly sunny at times. 68 sandwich, 70 in bridgewater, 69 in hull, here is patriots forecast for tonight, 57

one of the pellets. driving on route 53 in hanover when someone through her car window and hit her in the ear. >> suddenly i heard a big bang and sting on the side of high head and look at my window and it was totally shattered and and just been shot. >> gene: businesses hit include a frame shot. 16 cars and one house hit early monday morning and investigators believe this is a random crime. police do believe there are more victims out there though and asking those victims to come forward. >> sara: new england surfer recovering from a shark attack. colin cook lost part of his leg when it happened earlier this month in hawaii, left hand also suffered extensive damage.

right here on fox25. >> julie: good morning, everyone, 7:47 is time and look at roads right now and daniel miller in one of the fox25 news cars and take live look out there and 128 northbound, passing exit for natick right now but windshield wiper and rain dripping off the top of the scar and maybe a light sprinkle out there but it is not a heavy rainfall like shiri has been telling u.s. since it started to move out of the city. few drops out there but still bumper-to-bumper and her take you over to 93 south and in accident to tell but and this is on 93 south in stoneham right at route 28 and slowing things down on 93 and able to see on the map take that map and there we go, slowing things down work way through medford and pike slow as well through the weston tolls average speeds 14 miles per hour

and live look at the pike through brighton where it is bumper-to-bumper. here are live drive times. 22 minutes on 24 from 123 to 128, 27 minutes on route 9 to 495 to speen street and up to almost an hour and a half on 93 south and from 495 in andover down to the leverett connector. fox25 storm tracker weather meteorologist shiri spear tweeting out the updated rainfall totals and at least in the shot daniel showed us you can see breaks in the clouds and telling us we kind of made it through the worst of it? >> shiri: sarah wroblewski off to my side and too told me thought clouds coming to work and great big super moon looks pretty good out there and storm threat going to be changing next hour and heavy rain and potential for damaging gusts sitting over the cape and even lightning mostly in the offshore waters right now keeping a close eye on the cape and next hour update this to include boston you will see these clouds take a little step back and wind going to stay pretty active today and

good, intense rain off the cape moving offshore 8:30 this morning but back behind it we have a few showers far lighter showers still rolling across worcester. this is going to cross over 495 and passing to the boston area too so we still got some spot showers, scattered showers to get through this morning. now wind advisory has been adjusted here to include the cape and islands with the winds sustained up to 30 miles per hour gusting up to 50 because that threat is really attached to that locally heavy rain in place right now. so again by late morning we are going to see winds subside and showers subside, by 9:00 a.m. we are just left with the broken up showers that we currently have? central massachusetts overspreading eastern massachusetts into the early afternoon though we get the clouds breaking apart, got a little dry period here but we are not done with the rain yet either because then between two and about 6:00 p.m. we got another batch of clouds coming

be just a couple spot showers, kevin lemanowicz will be tracking these for you at 5:00 p.m. today where the chance for isolated shower in boston does exist. a lot of towns and cities end up staying dry this afternoon and i just want you to be aware of that slight chance for an afternoon shower as the crowds come through, otherwise hopefully enjoy partial sun early this afternoon and those clearing skies later on this evening. high temperatures get into the 70s in boston at 71, same in framingham, lawrence, fitchburg, 70 in manchester, new hampshire, 67 in worcester and even mid to upper 60s for the cape and islands, south shore and plymouth, 69 , the rain risk, storm risk is really focused through these morning hours. and tonight we got clearing skies with lows back into the 40s. it is still going to be blustery though into the afternoon, overnight hours, gusts 30 miles per hour dwindling overnight and tomorrow we will see far less wind, far more sunshine with highs getting into the upper 50s which is typical for this
