the 40th first night here in boston at copley square. as i step aside, you can see the ice sculptures. no specific threat to the city, vigilance is key and what they are trying to get out with their message their messaging. first night here at copley square in boston common. focused on keeping revelers safe. that n a live studio interview on fox25 yesterday, the city believes it has a good security plan in place. so expect uniformed and undercover officers to saturate the streets and t station. and for bomb sniffing jobs to be working as well. >> a lot of undercover officers and assets hitting the way, but i am confident and encourage like any event, if they see something out of the ordinary
>> reporter: preparations for today's fun continue this morning and will throughout the day as the revelers do start heading down to the city center here. we will continue to update you on the plan and give you helpful information about the timeline of these first night events in our report coming up at 5:30. so stay with us for that. for now i am reporting live on this new year's eve in copley square, michael henrich, fox25 morning news. of course times square is ready for the big party. new york city officials promise that the big apple will be one of safest places to ring in 20 of safest places to ring in 2015. crews can set up barricades and police checkpoints. a million people will gather in times square to see the annual ball drop alongside 5,000 police officers. overseas, brussels have cancelled their new year's eve fireworks display because of threats of an attack. the mayor of belgium's capital made the decision after meeting with law enforcement.
last year's festivities and the mayor said no way to check anyone. new this morning the mbta sunday fire again for failing to properly maintain an aging rail system. >> comes from a federal report that outlines how the t could have done better. live at the oak grove station where maintenance work is commonplace. jess? >> reporter: that investigation, julie, found a number of issues with the t, mainly with its maintenance plan and services for disabled riders. we are live at the oak grove station in malden and this station was named specifically in the report saying right now it is not accessible at all for disabled people. this all comes days after the first real winter storm test of the t. people are starting to wonder if they can avoid repeat approximating the night their we experienced last february. the report was done by the federal transit administration and a mbta spokesperson told the "globe" it will take more than $7 billion to get the mbta

chase was not hurt and the car was pulled from the pond a short time later. roads in the a area were slick when the accident happened. police on the cape are searching for a yarmouth man reported missing 11 days ago. william fleming's family said he was last seen driving a pick he was last seen driving a pickup truck. they found it abeen a dodded eight days later and aggressively searching the area ever since. update on charges in the san bernandino massacre. the friend accused of providing an assault weapon to one of the suspects has been indicted. enrique marquez has been charged with lying in the attack that left 14 people dead. they say he planned terrorist attacks with syed farook in 20 attacks with syed farook in 2011 and 2012 but never carried them out. as of this morning marquez has not entered a plea. bill cosby is out on $1 million bail.
