6:18 am
meteorologists believe it may be one of the ten worst wind storms to ever hit that area. thankfully this morning, no deaths or major injuries have been reported. luckily for us, no severe weather in our parts this morning, in fact, yesterday was one of the cooler mornings we have had so far this year, but today it is milder? >> by 5 degrees. >> 5 degrees can make all the difference. >> i tota going to be like 10 degrees warmer than it was yesterday, and yesterday was really nice. turned out to be, you know -- >> [inaudible] >> it will get even better. >> i know. this weekend is really nice. so it is a little chilly out there this morning but we will talk about some warmer weather heading our way. hey, did you check out the full hunter's moon? the moon rise was shortly after sunset last night, right around 6:00 and, of course, we have great pictures in. this was, of course, over wellfleet right before it became
6:19 am
cape cod, absolutely beautiful. we love showing you pictures. that moon set occurs shortly after 7:00 this morning. so, if you missed it, you missed it for the most part. wanted to point out the sun rise time, the last time we have a sun rise before 7:00 until we change the clocks on november 6th. october halloween sun rise will be shortly after 7:00. we will climb close to 7:30 until november 5th when we change the clocks back be in the 6:00 hour. so, daylight is getting shorter, that's for sure, as we head into the colder months ahead. you can really feel the cold out there right now as it has a temperature of 31 in lowell, below freezing in some spots, nashua 42, 37 in boston, it is milder than yesterday morning but take a look at where the warmth is. out to the west, currently, sun rise hasn't risen and sure enough, st. louis is 70 degrees
6:20 am
high pressure slowly shifts to the east, the winds around it are going to be out of the southwest, bringing in that warmth, and the winds are also ahead of this cold front, bringing scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms to parts of the great lakes. this system is going to be pushing towards our region and perhaps providing the risk of some hit or miss showers as we head through the overnight hours into the day tomorrow. so, mild weather is what we are expecting as we head into today, and increasing cloud cover with highs, mid level clouds, don't be surprised if you see a mix of sun and clouds by the 20-25, but for the most part a pleasant day. clouds thicken overnight tonight and noticing the risk of a few scattered showers as the front begins to sag to the south, again, very hit or miss. waking up tomorrow, we will see some low clouds, some fog, we will have to see how far south this front actually makes it, but what we will notice is a warm front lifting northward. while we could see an isolated shower as the front moves through monday into tuesday, what we really will notice is
6:21 am
monday, but tuesday, that's when we will really tap into the summerlike warmth, temperatures could be nearing 80 degrees. not so much today, but still we will take 70s. sure enough, mid-to-upper 60s for the cape and the islands, southeast, near 70, up into the lower 70s to the merrimac valley, with that wind out of the southwest. looking fantastic for the patriots game. if you are heading there, tailgating, temperatures in the 60s nearing 70 during the game. the wind out of the southwest. and overnight tonight, we stay milder than the recent chance of showers. so temperatures almost fall book into the 50s and 60s. tomorrow, still looking okay with the temperatures near the lower 70s, because that front will have to watch how far south it goes. once it lifts north, take a look at this, tuesday and wednesday, we are talking about temperatures near 80 degrees. could battle some record high, i will talk more about that coming up in the next half hour. >> sara, thank you. a girl shot when she was just 3 years old. now she is a teen. coming up, the message she is sending to another little girl

6:31 am
it's below freezing in norwood, 36 in framingham, we are also looking at the 30s and 40s as you head into parts of new hampshire, down across the cape. we are also looking at 36 on the vineyard, 38 in plymouth, 37 in marshfield. grab a jacket this morning, the one thing i want to point out, you may not need it by this afternoon. we have milder weather tout the west and that will be heading our way. so, hour-by-hour, this is what you can plan, through morning activities, temperatures climb into the 50s, by lunch hour into the 60s and by this afternoon, so, it's going to be a very mild day, as we head into the afternoon. you will notice a good amount of sunshine, too, the high-to-mid level clouds will move in and we will go with a mix of sun and chowdz, mostly dry. we have a front that is heading our way. that's going to bring us scattered showers. i will time that out for you coming up. >> all right, sara, thank you. with we are following breaking news we want to get right to, an active scene happening now in revere as police surround the home on francis street. >> we have been there all morning, fox 25's stephanie

6:33 am
officers here on the scene telling me the shots were not aimed at anyone in particular. however, several people inside the second floor unit of this home were refusing to come out. and that's again why the s.w.a.t. team members responded to this situation along massachusetts state police and revere police. now, earlier this morning, police here on the scene told me three people from the first floor unit left that building. but, again, at this point in time, we know inside that second floor unit refusing to come out. one man taken into custody in just the last five minutes. in the last 30 minutes, we have seen a heavier police presence to this area. i have to tell you, it is a bit of a tension situation, very quiet. you can feel that tension. again a s.w.a.t. team members are at this home. they are asking anyone in this location to stay inside for their own safety.
