election season finally over. today america heads to the polls to pick the next president of the united states. >> we have team coverage of this close race. catherine parrotta and michael henrich at polling stations in massachusetts and new hampshire. but we begin first with fox25 chris flanagan. he is in new york city where security is tight as presidential candidates cast their votes and then wait for final returns. chris? >> reporter: hurry up and wai and polls in new york opened two hours ago. we told donald trump expected to vote in about an hour from now at 10:00 here in midtown, manhattan. hillary clinton you saw live here in fox25 about an hour ago casting her vote. show you video now former secretary of state and her husband, former president bill clinton arriving this morning, not far from the home and elementary school in chappaqua, new york, just outside of new york city in westchester county. hundreds of supporters and media

>> things slow going on the expressway from the braintree split to around morrissey boulevard. as we shift slightly north i'm seeing volume accumulating right after the weston tolls. things also heavy and steady on route 1 approaching the tobin and on 93 as you head toward the zakim. over to the live drive times, 38 minutes on the pike eastbound from 495 to mass ave. 30 minutes on the expressway and half hour on 93 south from andover down to the zakim bridge. meteorologist shiri spear joining us now with -- are those picture? very nice out there. >> looks amazing out there right now. doesn't feel so good though. started frost and he freezing. i have to admit we are warming up now, several spots getting close to 50? but we did start in the 20s and 30s this morning. scattered rain moving in tomorrow, today, of course, tapping into that all day. then we got very cold conditions by the weekend. in fact, a bitter saturday is what i see right now.

fitchburg reporting much cooler temperatures and veil locations are slower to warm up that way, 43 in lawrence, 43 in norwood. plymouth 46? right now, nice bright sunshine, warm-up will take you to 56? at 11:00 a.m., 59? at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 today and then for the evening hours drive home from work and any late voters we got lower 50s and upper 40s between five and 7:00. now, let's go out to fitchburg because it is going to be a little b afternoon. sunshine doing its job, going to be a quick warm-up, so maybe some of the thermometer readings a little bit behind. but hoyou about sixties lunchtime today, mid-sixties highs around 1:00 this afternoon and got the same evening cool down and before 4:30 temperatures really tend to plummet. lower 60s up and down the coastline here for the north shore to boston to the south shore, upper 50s both for the sea coast of new hampshire and

norwood, framingham and fitchburg today. 61 in worcester. 62 in manchester new hampshire. future cast i mean doesn't get better than this for election day. warm and sunny. i can not give you any kind of weather excuse not to get out there and vote. remember, get out there and vote if you are looking for warm times to do it the afternoon will do. 7:00 tomorrow morning though we got clouds moving in, this is a newly updated future cast, even if you have seen the timeline, this is the newest widely scattered rain showers for the morning commute, primarily central and western massachusetts into the merrimack valley, southern new hampshire. i can't rule out an isolated shower moving through boston during the morning commute. i just tend to arrive in boston probably closer to about 10:00 a.m. lasting through lunchtime noon and tapering off around two or 3:00 in the afternoon. that 5:00 p.m. drive home from work tomorrow evening is going to be a sloppy one. south of the city.

downpours out there, simply wet roads which you know are going to slow things down and inland towns and cities start to clear out, drying out, so traveling north and west of the city probably going to be a much easier drive to get you home from work. tonight mostly clear skies, going to stay clear up until midnight before the clouds come in and got temperatures in the 40s. not as cool, you're going to wake up to the temperatures tomorrow morning and from there highs in the 50s, remember, we got more clouds, we got rain which is going to cool things readings southeastern mass where close to 60. going to end up being cooler in central mass and southern new hampshire and 50 and 7-day forecast with the weekend always in view. dry on thursday, partly cloudy and 52?, 53 here on friday with chance for late scattered rain showers. again, not a washout, just seeing some kind of spotty action there. saturday i'm keeping more clouds around, it looks pretty unsettled to me, i think it is going to be windy, couple

dressing attacked. the dorothy lynch salad dressing making firecracker like sound. caused $2,500 in damage to the carpet, wall, clothing and computer. didn't think anyone would believe here so had to snap pictures. >> hard to explain i was attacked by bottle of salad dressing and probably thought i was in whiskey or something. >> julie: later found out dressing had been recalled. dorothy lynch said it was bubbling causing to spew out. >> daniel: connecticut state police had a big task to tackle when they were called to get a moose on rental car lot. the confused moose was found wandering around the parked car yesterday. official had to shut down part of highway as troopers used vehicles to coral the animal away from the lot and back into the open woods where it belonged.

javid. >> daniel: controversial ballot questions are also weighing heavy on the mind of voters. fox25 catherine parrotta live at polling place in framingham where, catherine, doors open at 7:00 this morning. >> catherine: people were lined up waiting for the doors to open. dozens of people showing up before those polls were actually opened for the day. polls will be open until here right now. it has been a pretty busy morning past two and a half hours the polls have been open. it will be interesting to see what voter turnout is like here and across the state today. this is the first election for which massachusetts allowed early voting. ran from october 24th through november 4th and many communities saw great success with it. the state has 4.5 million registered voters and more than 1 million cast ballots during the early voting period. in addition to the presidential race voters in our state will

evening and up to minute results as ballots are counted. >> daniel: brighton man held without bail accused killing man without everett. pled not guilty to murder and other charges in malden district court yesterday. herring is accused of killing 21-year-old gary cot sunday night. the herald reports they used gps bracelet herring was already wearing to track him down. gps bracelet was condition of his bail in attem case in middlesex county. a georgetown police officer is recovering at home after cruiser was hit in construction zone. this is video from the scene on 95 north just before route 133 last night. police say the officers cruiser was parked with blue lights flashing when it was hit from behind. the officers was treated and released from the hospital. driver of the other vehicle was also treated for minor injuries. police investigating the crash.

repeatedly in her apartment. her daughter jennifer kate says authorities recently turned over her mom's jewelry including the watch she was wearing when she was killed. kay says around the same time she got a tip about a former inmate at billerica jail who has letters discussing the murder. >> someone who was a cell mate of someone close to my mom reached to a friend of mine saying that he had some letters that he thought the police needed to see. >> daniel: kay says the letters are now in the hands of the police. fox25 reached out to the middlesex d.a.'s office about the letters. in statement the d.a. told us they are now follow up on additional leads and continue to actively investigate the murder. new this morning brookline one person was rescued from a fire in home on cypress street. photographer on the scene snapped the pictures you see here. you could see smoke coming from the back of the house. firefighters have knocked down the fire. no word if there were any
