the regular old temperatures and 32 in lawrence and cool clear spots, boston running at 39?, a little bit warmer over the cape and islands with those 40s, but also a little bit cloudier to get things started. now, wind speeds, winds will be strongest along the coast and cape and adding to the wind chill factor that i was mentioning. melrose today 9:00 a.m. temperature 43?, 11:00 a.m. 47 afternoon but we start adding some more clouds today. i got a town by town look at where the temperatures are headed coming up and check traffic and weather every ten minutes and julie grauert now with live pictures. >> julie: route 1 in saugus and check lynn fells parkway. pretty typical of the weekday morning commute. over to the maps, things slowing down slightly on 93 south from medford as you approach somerville. on the expressway also stop and go from the braintree split up through neponset.
minutes on the pike eastbound. half hour on the expressway. 51 minutes on 93 south from andover down to the leverett connector. back to you. >> sara: happening today president-elect donald trump heads to his new home the white house. the trump family is meeting with the obamas to work on a smooth transition of power following one of the most uglielections in decades. >> gene: today's meeting comes as the country is deep redivided and last night the shock turned to anger. >> not my president. >> thousands of protesters storming boston common to distress the dissatisfaction with america's choice and on the west coast trump was hung in effigy and lit on fire in los angeles. these were just two of the many protests that were held across the country. >> sara: we have team coverage this morning of the transition of power. michael henrich is covering the protest but we begin first with fox25 daniel miller. he joins us now with mr. trump's plan for his first 100 days and
cabinet. >> daniel: interesting to be a fly on the wall when mr. trump and president obama meet. they went after each other numerous times on the campaign trail when the president calling him unfit to be commander in chief. trump claimed for years that the president might not have even been born in the united states. meanwhile there are some very big names supposed -- supported trump campaign that could end up with cabinet positions. one familiar one here scott brown who tells the herald he would be interested in the department of veteran affairs if he is offered one but he is not anticipating an offer. other names being floated rudy giuliani, newt gingrich and chris christie. congressional leaders are hopefully he will fulfill the promise to are peel and replace obamacare and also wants to introduce legislation to fund construction of a wall on the mexican border and he will also have a supreme court seat to fill. despite the differences though

beginning at 4:00. >> gene: thousands of anti-trump demonstrations took to the streets to voice the anger with a new president-elect. hartford courant continues the team coverage from boston common where the huge protest drew people from wide range of issues and causes, michael. >> michael: 4,000 people ended up coming together, yes, touting different causes, of course, but all uniting under this one anti-trump emotion speaking out against >> not my president ge not my president. rallying cry of thousands of anti-trumpers. >> he is racist wearing body cameras he is sexist, he says whatever he wants and gets away with it and it should not be right. >> michael: organizers took to facebook to rally 4,000 people to boston common last night. the anti-trumpers held signs for a series of causes, socialist, black lives matter, climate change, income and equality,
reproductive rights all unified against donald trump. >> i feel like we are at the brink of so much destruction and divisiveness. >> across the country protests against the president-elect erupted. in oregon people marched on and shut down major highways. the same in los angeles where a large paper mache donald trump head burned in effigy. in chicago protesters blocked the just as others did in new york outside the trump tower where the billionaire businessman turned leader of the free world elect lives. the anti-trump demonstration at the common caused boston police to shut down beacon street to the steps of the statehouse for a time but this one remains peaceful. >> i mean it is not like we can do anything to change the election results but week work
>> michael: some arrests were made in other cities. this protest in boston remained peaceful and no arrests were made. it is unclear whether any additional anti-trump protests are already in the work. live in beacon hill, michael henrich, fox25 news. >> sara: stock futures are up this morning as they begin to brace the election. dow closed up more than 250 points yesterday which is a big turn around compared to drop earn uncertainty of the race. we will be watching when the market open at 9:30. >> gene: hotly contested battle for new hampshire seat is over. kelly ayotte conceded the race to maggie hasan. it was over 1,000 votes which would have been well within the state guidelines for a recount but ayotte says she does not want one. both candidates are calling for unity in the divisive election. >> it will be my job in the
new hampshire, to work with president-elect trump when it is in the best interest of new hampshire and the country and to stand up to him when it isn't. >> gene: senator ayotte has called governor hassan. she did so yesterday afternoon after the secretary of state confirmed hassan's narrow victory. she is also telling the supporters it is a critical time for new hampshire and the country and, quote, now more than ever we need to work to address the challenges. >> sara: happening status hearing against the case against baby bella's mom. rochelle bond is accessory after the fact to her daughter's killing. it is not clear if she will be there. bella's body was found on deer island last year. no one knew who she was last year for months until she told a friend her boyfriend killed the two-year-old. he is charged with murder. >> gene: off-duty state trooper will spend 100 days in
plymouth. john basler convicted of motor vehicle manslaughter and homicide. he was charged with reckless operation. state police suspended him after the crash. fox25 reached out to get update on the status. this morning we are told nothing has changed and spokesperson told fox25 the internal case is penning and we will address the duty status in his conviction. >> sara: this morning the city of salem is taking steps to fire a veteran police officer who is the husband of the police chief now that he is facing charges he raped a man in protective custody. according to investigators brian butler sexually assaulted a man who was being held in the booking area at the salem police department. this happened on halloween. video and audio recordings lined up with what they told officers a week later and butler told
temptation. after court appearance wednesday butler's wife briefly spoke to the media. >> reflection of, you know, the alleged actions of one person shouldn't reflect badly upon the department and the officers that are working diligently everyday to do their job. >> sara: the chief says she is taking personal time away from the department to deal with this matter and does plan to return to work. salem mayor kim driscoll tells fox25 she expects officer butler to be off the city's payroll sooner than later. >>sa rep celebrated re-election in front of a judge. hooksett police said 85-year-old dick mar pell turned himself after being spotted at polling place on tuesday. he was wanted on bench warrant for not showing up to court in may. according to the union leader mar poll owes $18,000 in back taxes. this is the fifth term as state rep. >> julie: we track traffic and weather together every ten minutes. up to 34 minutes braintree split

names are mario, carlos and his son dylan, all three from new bedford to come to sunday which to fish for the day. >> commercial fisherman that loved the sea and rec fishing for mackerel. they are doing what they love to do. >> jessica: all three skilled boaters who know the sea well. they left for sandwich on tuesday on 23-foot boat. a friend called the coast guard after the men stopped answering text messages and phone calls and failed after they were supposed to get home. >> we knew they were fishing at wood end off of provincetown and knew that they got there and fishing for mackerel but we don't know where they were missing after that. >> jessica: sandwich and

that's slowing things down slightly. route 1 in saugus still seeing heavy steady volume approaching lynn fells parkway. shifting slightly southbound 95 a little sluggish approaching 128. expressway stop and go from the braintree split up to morrissey boulevard. here are live drive times. 34 minutes on route 1 from 128 to the tobin. 34 minutes on the expressway. almost an hour on 93 south from 495 to the leverett connector. meteorologist shiri spear joining us now and we are to head outside to sandwich and live pictures. >> sagamore bridge right there and it is looking quiet, it is looking mostly clear, even down to the cape which is nice because we started with a bit of cloud cover. so high, thin clouds for the cape and look at how quiet, look at how beautiful it is to start things off. hyannis right now closest i have on the map 46?. currently still seeing some clouds focused across the middle and outer cape, those will end up diminishing during the morning hours. lunchtime nice and bright. high temperatures here in the
we got even more sunshine the further north you go, manchester, new hampshire at 35?, looking nice and bright there as well, but notice that the clouds leak in a little bit earlier in the afternoon. high temperatures also in the lower 50s today. so town by town look at those temperatures to plan around today. we are in the 30s and 40s now, we are in the mid and low 50s this afternoon. 50 in worcester, 53 in boston and ipswich, 54 in plymouth and some mid-50s in spots like framingham and norwood today. looking nice but there will be some sat continue on and off today. not too much to break down here with future cast but you can see uptick in the cloud cover here for that drive home from work. in particular north and west of boston still seeing tremendous amounts of sunshine over the south and east. so low temperatures tonight drop back into the 40s, 40s with quiet conditions. so not whole lot to discuss for the day for the day today or tomorrow, but i'm thinking tomorrow we get a period of passing clouds. not much in the way of any kind of wet weather.

>> gene: pittsburgh there's a shooting and one taken to the hospital. happened around 3:00 this morning, the officers have not been identified and no information has been released about the second officer's condition. police are still on the hunt for the suspect. we are expecting update from police in few minutes. we will continue to stay on top of the story for you throughout the morning. two bodies found on south carolina property of serial killer todd kohlhepp and they don't think there are any more. they began searching property after finding woman chained up and they started the search. colhelp is suspected in seven murders total, including four
a steel shop outside of buffalo, new york. smoke could be seen for miles and hear explosions coming from the plant just before the roof collapsed. it took hundreds of firefighters to control the blaze. no word yet on what caused the fire. >> gene: yahoo says some of the employees knew about 2014 data breach after it happened. they announced investigation into claims that hacker stole personal information from 500 million users and hurt the company multi-million deal with verizon. if possible the wireless carrier could back out of that because of the new information. new concern this morning sat sears might be heading toward bankruptcy. several companies that supply the stores shelves from tvs to clothing, all starting to limit the amount of products they ship to sears. one cut ties altogether. sure sign of uncertainty in the market.

advisory board for regulation and adopt ordinances and by laws to regulate the pot shops within their borders. >> gene: news out of easton where man shot and left to die in the woods. police in that small town are searching for the gunman and catherine parrotta live in easton where two teenage boys found that victim and called 911. good morning, catherine. >> catherine: police do say the public isn't in any danger any update with the investigation. we do know police are asking the public to keep an eye out for red 2016 mazda three sedan. however, this investigation still leads a lot of questions. >> this is my favorite part because it is beautiful down in through here. >> catherine: a regular here and sinister discovery.
>> catherine: two 13-year-old boys rode bikes found man on ground and he was shot. >> he was alive and suffering from head injury. >> catherine: it was daniel smith, former easton resident who now lives in florida and taken to boston police where he was last listed in critical condition. police don't know how he was hurt or ended up in the woods. >> catherine: unheard of this to happen. police searching for clues and asking for the public's help and tracking down red 2016 mazda three sedan with florida plates 372qqk and police not the only one searching for answers. >> a little concerning. we live in a small town so hearing something like this kind of puts everyone on edge. >> police say if you have any information about the car or case you can call easton police or state police.

card skimming ring in burlington and bedford. one was from italy, other from romania and facing more than 40 fraud charges and there may be others involved in the ring. >> gene: framingham compounding center at middle of the meningitis outbreak will not go to jail. federal judge sentenced her to pay 4,500-dollar fine and husband douglas fined $55,000 and sentenced to two probation. two admitted to illegally withdrawing money from bank account from fungal meningitis that was tied to the compounding center. they were not charged in connection to dozens of deaths tied to the center but two others are still facing second degree murder and conspiracy charges. judge says statements made by woman who encouraged her to commit suicide can be used against her at trial.
