mccarthy joins us live. you spoke to the boy's father who understandably says his son is still shaken up? >> reporter: that's right, and that father asked us not to identify him for the safety of his kids. but he tells us that he's concerned about this incident and his neighbors are concerned too. >> i'm concerned, of course. >> reporter: leicester neighbors uneasy as word spreads that a strange man approaching a 12-year-old boy while he and his 7-year-old brother were selling popcorn for the boy strange that somebody would do that no matter what the intention was. >> reporter: it was near baldwin and green street saturday afternoon the father, who asked not to be identified, says his 7-year-old was at his friend's front door his older brother in the driveway. >> while he was at the end of the driveway. a car come down the road stopped with where he was waved him over didn't open the car door or window but waived him over showed him a ps-4 box waved him over again decided you know

but something happened he decided to go down the road and we called the cops from there. >> reporter: the kids provided a description to police. the suspect in his 20s driving a large four door burgundy vehicle with two red bumper stickers on the back. >> everybody's doing their best keeping an eye out. >> reporter: meanwhile the older boy is now nervous in his own neighborhood. >> my older one he had the biggest interaction between the two of them so he's a little hesitant to be around and playing street right now. >> reporter: now leicester police put out a broad to other local agencies asking them to keep an eye out for that suspect and vehicle. they ask if you have any information to go ahead and call police. police say they found a car that may have been involved in a hit-and-run in brockton. a surveillance camera captured it a group of people were leaving a baron north main street. a car hit a man.

new tonight, she says she's lucky to be alive. a fitchburg waitress is recovering after this awful accident on 495 thanksgiving morning. a wrong way driver who hit her was killed but she somehow escaped with her life. tonight the young victim is speaking with us from her hospital bed. >> fox 25's erica richie reports she was awake through the entire ordeal. >> reporter: yeah, taylor was headed home to barns stage here from college for thanksgiving break when she head-onlition even though she never made it home to barnstable because shy detoured to the hospital she pegs this as her best thanksgiving ever. >> i'm just like so happy that you know i didn't -- >> reporter: it's hard to even put words to how this crash on route 495 in plainville early thanksgiving morning could have ended. so as taylor speaks to me by phone from her hospital bed she simply focuses on how it did end. >> you know -- >> reporter: she was in this white s.u.v. headed from

in barnstable at 2:00 a.m. thursday after a waitresses shift with when 22 years james keating of norton was driving the wrong way and hit taylor head-on. he died at the scene. taylor never lost consciousness. >> i was still in the fast lane after the crash that's just where i ended up. then cars were still going by me like not stopping. i didn't know if anyone else had known so i call 911. >> reporter: at the hospital, taylor learned she suffered a severely fractured pelvis in addition to cuts and bruises. meantime her friends were learning that she was the one involved in the crash they had seen in the news. >> there was definitely very shocking. >> reporter: and for taylor's best friend emma mcmahon. >> it was also very upsetting. she felt helpless but wanted to be there for her friend so she set up a go fund me account to help cover taylor's bills since she won't be able to work for at least several months. >> i can't put your bones

warn a once in a century storm could wreck havoc on rhode island. on left we'll show you in just a second is what the coast of warwick looks right now. on the right is what it would look like if a storm-like hurricane in 1954 were to strike again. anything in red there would pretty much be destroyed. it also took into account a seven foot rise in sea level which scientists predict to happen by the end of the century. a navy veteran will soon than 200 miles off the new england coast. captain rogers was supposed to be on the u.s.s. thrasher in 1963 but was taken off the boat last minute. the ship sank two days later killing everyone on board. since then rogers wife says he felt survivors remorse up to his death last year. his ashes will be placed near the area where that ship sank. a flight from israel to boston has been cancelled after pilots refuse to show up. israel's national carrier el

well, talk about lucky. a powerball player who bought a ticket in tennessee just got a whole lot richer about $421 million richer in fact. must be nice, huh. numbers drawn last night was sold at a store in lafayette. only about 5,000 people live in lafayette which is roughly 60 miles or so north of nashville. the winner has not yet come forward. well, wall street will open tomorrow morning at record highs. stocks are up across the board last week with all the major indices reaching all-time highs. on friday, this month's jobs report will be released. last month the unemployment rate edged down to 4.9%. americans spent more

shopping's busiest weekend but most of the sales were made on-line. searchers say roughly one billion of those sales came from mobile devices. data also shows sales from physical retailers dipped 5% over the past with two years. black friday deals also brought mayhem to malls with two fatal shootings. one in new jersey another in tennessee. both shootings began as fights like one caught on camera in california. i two people but ended up with an all-out brawl with -- at the entrance to the jcpenney. the day after thanksgiving can be a headache for many travelers but those taking to the skies faced few major problems. we're told only about 100 flights were cancelled nationwide. we caught up with some travelers returning tonight to logan. >> you know, only about an hour i really needed at the airport. that was just fine.

the trump presidency promises to throw a lot of political traditions out the window. among them trump doesn't have a pet. for more than a century every president has had a four legged friend. the last president pet was andrew johnson. he he prepares for the transition of power not everyone is on board with his rumored choices to fill the cabinet. >> among the names creating controversy is former massachusetts governor mitt romney. >> reporter: senior advisey kelly ann conway said she had already shared her feelings about mitt romney privately with mr. trump but today she took them pep public she blasted mitt romney as wrong man for the job as secretary of state.

meaning time we are seeing clearing skies back here across southern new england. just a few clouds. where temperatures are in the upper 20s either way. down here around boylston, worcester lower 30s look at brookfield already down to 28 degrees as well as tewkesbury, and milton, and over to boston at 37? and the 30s have made it all the way down to the south shore all the way out to cape cod at this hour only 40s i have on the nantucket. so the winds calming down in a few spots. five to 10 in most others. ptown and nantucket still at 15, 16, 17. but that's about it for the winds overnight. in fact they're only going to get a little bit lighter from here. that's the good news. in the morning it will be chilly but not that bitter wind chill to talk about. it will just be grab your coat and head out. we're going to be in the mid and upper 20s in most locations. there's norwood, framingham,

ipswich down in the upper with 20s and boston about 31 as you start the day on monday. but clear skies coat, scarf, that's all the gear for tomorrow you will have plenty of sun for the day coming up with mid and upper 40s out there for the afternoon seasonably 40 degree weather. now high pressure in control tomorrow so that's why we have the nice bright skies and the lighter winds compared to today. then late in the day, some high clouds are on the increase that's because our next storm system it's already in the making and right now. so by 7:00 in the morning on tuesday most of us will stay dry. but a few spotty light showers and if they can get down to the ground we'll have that residual cold air that will produce some light freezing rain or sleet mainly in southern new hampshire but it's going to be brief because we're not going have the cold air locked in. here comes that south and southwest wind flow right over the top of it. we get a lot of rain by the evening drive time on tuesday. looks like a washout to me

say after dinner time on tuesday and we're left with a dry start to wednesday. but we still have another low pressure system to come in on wednesday afternoon and evening to bring another dose of really needed rainfall. let's take a look at just tuesday. these are rain amounts that are pretty impressive here half an inch or even intersome spots could get an inch of rain on just tuesday alone. we need it because we're still watching that stripe of red. that's the extreme drought. shake that. so we're still at eight to 11 inches below normal for the pike areas here in southern new england for the area. now on wednesday afternoon, and into thursday morning another inch of rain can fall and then we clear it out of here friday looks dry and breezy, and just in time for our coat drop-off in natick at 10 to two on saturday nice bright weather and breezy and cooler conditions. >> jason, thanks. new tonight google is

they've developed artificial intelligence that is taught itself to translate between languages. google says this technology can even translate between languages it doesn't know. the so-called zero shot translation technology allows google to not have to translate between two languages. researchers hope this will allow quicker and more accurate translations. a new smartphone app is being called the tinder for kids. the app yellow is a cross between the dating app and snapchat. the instructions are t same swipe right if you like someone. once they swipe they can communicate with that person through snapchat. on-line safety advocates though say they're concerned over the app saying users could be faking their ages and identities. not sure where they come up with these but it's being called the space poop challenge, yes the space poop challenge, kerry. nasa is offering a $30,000 prize if someone can create a way for astronauts to go to the bathroom while staying in their spacesuits for get this up to six days
