medical exerts, it has been determined it is in rob's best long-term interest to undergo surgery to address the lower back injury. rob is expected to have surgery friday. we do not expect that he will be able to play for the remainder of the 2016 season but will await the results of friday's surgery before making a final determination. quarterback tom brady responded to the news on the radio. >> it becomes more challenging when you lose such player like gronk, but i don't think that any of us are going to give up with what we are trying to accomplish. thoughts are with him and wishing him the very best, and we hope he gets better as soon as possible. >> michael: chairman robert kraft did not directly address gronk's injury with tom leyden but talked about what it takes to win. >> the teams that do the best are the ones that have the best mental toughness and can

>> catherine: that's what we are going to be asking police about in just a little while. looking online for information posted by police, haven't seen anything just yet. still working on the details but give you lay of the land, pretty much on wentworth college, northeastern and boston police headquarters, they are down that way and where we are here at the intersection, this is the area where the police cruiser was crashed into, and again, working on the details. here is what we know so far. crash happened in the area of parker and ruggles street season officer was in the wentworth police cruiser. that officer was taken away by ambulance what appeared to be minor injuries. however, there was a second scene nearby. you could take a look at video of that. this is on mcgreevey way. there were several vehicles with the windows shot out there and at this point we are looking at how they are connected and looking to learn if any arrests have been made and continue reaching out to boston police this morning to work on getting answers on those questions. for now live in roxbury,

mother. frantz polynice hid from camera during the arraignment yesterday. police say they found him sitting outside of his home wednesday covered in blood and shaking uncronably. they found the body of 44-year-old mother. neighbors tell us they did not see any signs of trouble with the family before this happened. >> i would never think the mother -- he is a good boy. he is not >> sara: polynice will be back in court today. >> gene: president-elect was in ohio for the first time on thank you tour. >> very divided nation but not going to be divided for long. i have always brought people together. i know you find that hard to believe. >> gene: despite trump supporter about the traffic in and out of cincinnati and few thousand people showing up, low turnout did not stop trump from

the clerk. our daniel miller joins us now with closer look at surveillance video. >> daniel: clerk says worked at store for 5 years and this is the first time he has been robbed and happened wednesday night at belvedere in lowell and clerk said he was behind the counter when 1 man in scream mask and 1 man in ski 1 had sawed-off shotgun and threatened the clerk and open the recent register. >> did it seem like they were pros at this? >> no. seemed like they were pretty nervous. they tried to come in behind the counter both at once which that was a giveaway right there.

video another surveillance video captured man hiding minutes beforehand and liquor store may have been -- may have not -- may not have been that is the robbers original target about an hour before the hold-up gas station clerk reported seeing 2 masked men hiding outside of his store in centerville section of lowell. in the newsroom, i'm daniel miller. >> gene: police in wellesley investigating robberies. wellesley hills neighborhood hit wednesday. houses on garden, lincoln and the afternoon hours. no 1 was home at the time. we don't know what the thieves got away with and no word on any suspects. this morning dorchester neighborhood banding together trying to help disabled veteran after he was a victim of crime. take look at what was behind. toyota veinsa popped up on cinder blocks all 4 tires gone and police say thieves likely targeted the car because it is standard 20 inch tires are pretty expensive. they are still investigating the crime. meantime the neighborhood is

wildfires ripping through gatlinburg, tennessee. wildfire spread from the grade smoky mountains national park to gatlinburg and thousands of acres in the resort area forcing more than 14,000 people to treated after being airlifted by the south pole. doctors said he had fluid in his lungs. he had been in antarctica with a tour group is responding well to antibiotics and in stable condition. he is best known for 1 of the first men to walk on the moon. >> jury awarded $750,000 to woman who was trapped on gondola at vermont ski resort.

resort. this was in 2011. she was on the ride before it shut down and claimed to have stopped the gondola earlier than usual because of bad weather conditions and hiker was stuck in the air for 5 hours before being found by search crews and claims to have suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder after being trapped for so long. that's a hefty payout.

after a police cruiser is hit by a car. this happened in the area of parker and ruggles street overnight. that's right near the wentworth institute of technology. in the car taken away ambulance appear to be minor injuries. couple blocks from that scene were cars with windows shot out of mcgreevey way. we got calls out to police to figure out if these incidents are connected. >> gene: police w along merrimack river and 1 local family concerned it may be a teenage boy who has been missing for weeks. jessica reyes live in lawrence this morning where woman walking her dog made gruesome discovery. >> jessica: banks in the merrimack river and, of course, this investigation does continue. as you said the essex d.a.'s office tell us the decapitated body found yesterday and woman

boyfriend to kill himself via texting is dealing with set back in her case. michelle carter asked for funds to hire an expert to explain antidepressants at trial but denied by judge. 20-year-old says at the time of conrad roy's death both of them were taking antidepressant which gave them suicidal thoughts. roy was found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning in 2014. carter is facing manslaughter bomber richard reid declaring bankrupt. he tried to set off a bomb in his boot at flight. he was arrested and fined more than $256,000. in a letter to the court reid write will i ever be able to pay

i was looking at some of the ski resorts getting ready to open and projected opening dates are and itching to get a little snow down to the ground. particular it easy, no weather woes going to slow down. 40? in boston, feels like 32 because of the breeze and future cast over the next couple hours, got temperatures rising into the lower 40s here at 9:00 a.m. and still nice and bright, hints of clouds in the with sunshine today. noon time upper 40s across southern new england into the afternoon we got some spots hitting 50? and 5:00 p.m. for the drive home from work today, i do expect low and mid-40s, still going to be a little cooler, especially when you add in the wind. thickest cloud cover north and west of boston here, so into southern new hampshire, central mass, even there partly sunny, he should say partly cloudy because it is dark at 5:00 p.m. then for your friday night plans, i got temperatures back

hints of white here again points north and west of boston overnight. that's the slight chance for some flurries in southern new hampshire or perhaps into the northern worcester hills. nothing widespread. 50 in boston, beverly, portsmouth, new hampshire, plymouth down to the cape, 49 in bedford, 44 in worcester and mid-40s into keene, new hampshire. so only slight risk for passing flurry late today and that would be far inland towns and cities. weekend going with the dry week just looking at some of the latest information still looks incredibly light so late sunday night and into monday morning we could be tracking couple flurries and couple of sprinkles but right now it looks very, very weak. high temperatures over the weekend will go with 44? in provincetown, chatham, plymouth and beverly, 45 in boston, 30s all weekend in the worcester area, but temperatures do drop by almost 5? as we head into your sunday.
