outside this morning. chris lambert has more on the forecast. it is going to get colder. >> that's right, guys. the weather getting colder as we go through the weekend. 48 in boston right now. we are talking about clouds in the sky in the city of boston. a front that is moving on through. we had a couple of showers. one thunderstorm over the vineyard. that thunderstorm south and east of the chatham area and northeast of nantucket. in the city of boston, clouds. a cup of sprinkles. light showers up route one. off of cape ann as well. this will not last long. in fact, in its wake, more sunshine. you get north and west of 495. the theme here, though, the cold air is going to be pressing toward new england. 48 in boston right now. montreal at 34 degrees. ontario right now at 27. we will be cooling down. this afternoon, upper 40's through worcester. mid-50's in the city of boston. much cooler day tomorrow.

temperatures only in the mid-40's. guys? >> all right, chris. thank you. we do begin with breaking news. state police say the baby at the center of an amber alert overnight is receiving emergency medical treatment at a hospital in boston this morning. an amber alert was issued around 2:00 this morning after police say a 36-year-old tiffany cherry from pennsylvania took off with her severely dehydrated two-month-old friday afternoon. now, she allegedly ignored medical personnel who told her to take the baby to the hospital. police believe she was in in the waltham area and boston police took her into custody an hour later. >> breaking overnight: a state trooper is in the hospital this morning after a track or the-trailer slammed into his cruiser that he was parked in on the mass. pike in newton. police say the trooper was at work on a work detail when this crash happened around 10:00 last night. he was taken to mass. general. we still do not know the extent of his injuries. or whether or not the driver of the track or the-trailer was also hurt. another breaking story: two people expected to be okay after they were stabbed in

east boston. this happened on bennington street around 2:00 this morning. there is no word of any arrests. >> also on 7: arlington police on the hunt for a dangerous bank robber who targeted a bank right in broad daylight. now police have new clues, including a sketch and surveillance pictures. kimberly bookman reports from arlington with what witnesses told police. these bank surveillance pictures show a partially masked man inside winchester savings. holding a handgun and demanding money. what they don't capture is what people living nearby say he did after getting the cash. >> he must have hopped the fence or something. it is pretty crazy. you know, really close to home. >> arlington police say the robber did, in fact, take off through a residential neighborhood behind the bank. shedding his disguise as he ran. >> you see that little yellow one. . >> one woman came face-to-face

with the robber. >> the suspect came so close to her, she was able to smell the odor of the dye-pack. >> that woman was able to come up with a sketch for the person they were looking for. there was a manhunt with state police helicopters in a residential neighborhood. four schools in the area were told to shelter in place for an hour. fast crime that put many on edge, thinking twice about their safety. >> now we are battening down the hatches. we really got to keep an eye on things. >> kimberly bookman, 7 news today in new england. >> wild accident all caught on camera in worcester. two cars-- watch this-- collided. flying through the front of the liquor store. glass window shattering there. customers were sent scrambling. the owner is cleaning up quite a major mess left behind. we have a report from worcester. >> chaos. it was just a big gigantic mess. >> a car with five people

inside seen here on store surveil listens video smashing through the front of this liquor store in worcester around 1:00 a.m. friday. >> a little bit more than a burglary. it's a toyota avalon sitting inside my store. >> despite a water-fall of shattered glass covering the car, everyone managed to get out with only one passenger slightly hurt. police say it all began as a two-car crash that sent one driver barreling into the building. now police are looking for several suspects who were looting after the crash left a gaping hole through the front door. >> one of the looters was on a bike. he was having a hell of a time riding his bike and holding all the cigarettes he was holding. >> he is thankful the store was closed when the car made the grand entrance. fortunately, the only serious clean-up included replacing the front door and a busted a.t.m. 45 years. i have seen a lot. people have seen in a

>> the race for the white house taking donald trump back to school in tyngsborough. the republican front-runner drawing a crowd at an elementary school there. he highlighted his strong leads in the polls and even touched on his friendship with tom brady. brandon gunnoe has more on what he told his supporters. >> donald trump is no stranger to the nation's first primary in new hampshire, but tonight made a stop in tyngsborough, massachusetts. >> i love massachusetts. i love everything about it. >> tyngsborough leads much more conservative than the rest of the state. voting for mitt romney in 2012. the donald brought up romney's failed presidential run. >> you are with your wife and you are with your husband, you are really competent. you just say you know, this time, i'm going to do it myself. >> in an interview, tom brady

everything right, informing the u.s. military. officials say the location of the hospital was listed as a protected target. the investigation is ongoing. a 20-year-old hacker has been arrested after he stole personal information of more than 1,300 u.s. military members and gave it to isis. the man from kosovo was arrested in malaysia friday night. u.s. officials are seeking his extradition. he is accused of helping isis publish a kill list of american service members. there have been no reported... no reports of any attacks. >> new this morning: fuj ty drug lord joaquin el chappo guzman is believed to be injured. he was hiding at a ranch in mexico. marines raided the camp. he and his acomplies got away. officials believe he suffered injuries to his leg as well as his face. in this massive manhunt, it continues after he escaped

48 in boston. 39 in norwood right now. 43 in bedford. you take a look at what's going on overall. the winds beginning to pick up a little bit out of the west here. at 14 miles an hour in boston. 17 miles an hour in worcester. that wind becoming more active as you go through the late-morning hours into the afternoon. there are a few isolated showers out there at this time. mostly from cape ann, touching back to the city of boston. this is not long-lasting. this is not what we will see through much of the day. it is one batch that will work on through quickly here. over the next hour or so. then we return to some sunshine. we have seen the sunshine return outside 495. if you have a "t"... tee time plan, don't worry. this is not long-lasting. you will get in 18 holes out there. for tonight, a freeze warning. this light blue. from 1:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. that is where we expect temperatures close to freezing. the dark blue around the city of boston. as well as down through the cape and through the vineyard.

the freeze watch for tomorrow night. tomorrow night will be the colder of the two nights. north and west of 495, there is a blank map. the growing season has ended through much of southern new england and western massachusetts. when that has ended, the growing season, the national weather service does not issue any more freeze watches or warnings. we will be breezy this afternoon. mostly dry mixture of clouds and sunshine out there. across northern new england, yeah, you do, indeed, see snow showers up there. across the far northern mountains. up through maine. some lake-effect snow this weekend. back through the great lakes. do expect a colder and breezy day tomorrow. any accumulating snow, you get into the higher terrain of far northern new england, northern maine, down-wind of the lakes, there may be some minor accumulation, or some lake-effect. out that way. nothing here in southern new england. 48-56 this afternoon. it is much cooler than what we

have seen. night temperatures back into the 30's. 37 in boston. outside the city, upper 2's to low 30's. there will be another cold night tonight. the temperatures don't move much tomorrow. 40 in the worcester hills. 46 in boston. 48 south of the city. tomorrow night is the coldest night we have seen in quite some time. 33 in the city of boston. mid-20's outside the city of boston. that will set the stage for another cool day on monday. tuesday is a quick bounce-back. lower 60's. i doent see much rain in the forecast. a few showers possible on thursday. >> all right, chris. thank you. new this morning, health officials say another person has contracted the west nile virus in the bay state. a woman in her 30's from suffolk county is now the ninth case this year. she is expected to be okay. the risk level does remain high for boston, chelsea, revere, and winthrop. officials say the risk will continue until we see our first hard frost in every part of the state. most of the state expects to see a hard freeze tomorrow night.

river is showing some interest in bringing the pawtucket red sox back to their city. the mayor says the city has two possible sites for a stadium. but they stressed this is still in the beginning stages. the team's new owners recently gave up a bid for waterfront land in downtown providence. officials in worcester and springfield also say they are looking into landing the team. >> and ahead on 7 news: shutting down service. a water main break in a seaside town causing major problems to residents. >> boy, what a mess there. also ahead, too much rain too fast. speaking of a mess. cars were literally washed away, covered in mud. destruction in california as these mud-slides do some

need to replace. then we will bring in probably a 20-foot section of pipe. get the size we need. bring fittings in. we are going to be here for another five or six hours. >> the fire station notified nearby towns to have tankers full of water on stand-by, in case a fire broke out. downtown restaurants were shut down for the day. it would have gain whole new meaning to waerltfront dining. >> we often walk into town for dinner. we will find another place. >> within a few hours, they isolated the problem. and 70% of people in town got their water back. many wonder when it will happen again. this is the second water main break in town in a month. and the third since april. >> it is a concern. i mean, we have to make sure we have the infrastructure. this town is very well-run. i believe they will take care of it. >> the pipe that cracked today is extremely old. the town is hoping to put aside $6 million next year to

>> everything does have a life. we need to do in maintenance that needs to be done to keep things working. >> a group of boston firefighters showing support for the kansas city fire department as they continue mourning the deaths of two of their own. those firefighters died while battling fierce flames at an apartmented bying in kansas city monday night. one was a 13-year veteran of the department. the other had been on the force for 17 years. boston firefighters arrived in kansas city on friday. they will be attending the firefighters memorial later today. governor charlie baker helped to pay tribute to massachusetts officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. it was a crowded scene on friday as many people paid their respects. nine officers were memorialized. two of them died this past year. >> also this morning, some good news for lamar odom. significant signs of life as he wakes out of his coma. and even starts talking. ryan schulteis has moren to dramatic change in odom's road

>> there are reports lamar odom is off of life support and breathing on his own. he woke up and spoke for the first time in three days. a family representative says odom opened his eyes today and he was able to communicate. he reportedly gave thumbs-up to his estranged wife khloe kardashian who has been by his side this entire time. this is surveillance video that shows him arriving at the love ranch last weekend. on tuesday, he was found unconscious after what appears to be a drug overdose. family and friends rushed to his side, including his estranged wife khloe kardashian and former teammate kobe bryant. doctors reportedly found multiple drugs in his system. he saufd stroke and had brain damage and then slipped into a coma. some are calling this remarkable. his mother-in-law kris jenner says he is still very much in critical condition. ryan schulteis, 7 news today in new england. >> new morning, a rhode island native who lost his leg in a shark attack in hawaii says he is not sure if he is going to surf again. the 25-year-old says he was

when a tiger shark bit through his surfboard. he was luckily able to punch the shark off of his leg until another surfer came over to help him out. the shark followed them to shore. >> i was out there waiting for a wave. pretty much out of nowhere, it felt like a truck ran into me. took me a second to realize what was going on. you know, he dragged me underwater. and it took me a second to realize it was a massive shark. >> you see the damage to his hands there from punching that shark. doctors amputated most of his left leg. and even a few fingers. he is going to spend the next two weeks recovering in hawaii before returning home to rhode island. >> rio de janeiro's olympic organizing committee announced on friday it will not test the city's waterways for viruses, the same waters where the 2016 olympic events will be held. officials of the games say they are following recommendations from the world

aside about $6 million next year to replace or repair all water mains in town. >> everything does have a service life. we need to step up and pay attention to doing this may not nans that needs to be done to keep things working. >> tim caputo, 7 news today in >> we are following more news today. a group of boston firefighters showing their support for the kansas city fire department as they continue mourning the deaths of two of their own. those firefighters died battling fierce flames at an apartment building in kansas city monday night. one of the men killed was a 13-year veteran of the fire department. the other had been there for 17 years. boston firefighters arrived in kansas city on friday. they will be attending the fallen firefighters memorial later today. here locally, governor charlie baker helped pay tribute to massachusetts officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. it was a crowded scene in the park on friday. many people paid their respects. nine officers were memorialized, including two of them who died this past year.
