boston. 14 in worcester. so cool start. but not a bad weekend at all as we do have some seasonal temperatures ahead of us this afternoon. have had a few flurries and snow showers across northern new england. other than a passing brief flurry i don't expect much. this afternoon upper 30s in the city of boston, close to 40 across southeastern massachusetts, cape and the islands and we'll hold to the middle 30s out through the worcester hills. arctic blast of cold air, it's coming as we get into monday into tuesday, two-day stint of this world weather and that will provide us with high temperatures in the 20s monday and tuesday. monday night the cold, low temperatures wide spread to the single digits. a wind chill with the wind out of the northwest and north gusty here. wind chill factors close to 0 if not -10 to -15 in the worcester hills and ocean effect snow likely across the cape. more on the forecast in a bit.

erupting in an air base in india. the attack on security forces lasted into the night. four gunmen and two security troops were killed in the gun phyte. police there are investigating where the attackers came from. to a developing another from overseas, the israeli city of tel aviv is on high alert this morning after a new years day attack. that is when a gunman opened fire outside of a pub killing two injuring several others. brandon gunnoe has the latest now on the shooting. >> reporter: caught on camera video shows a crowded cafe bar when all of a sudden a gunman appears and starts shooting. seconds later you can see a survivor look up, around him, two our head. one those killed was a young man only 26 years old. >> my son was special, his father says. he collapsed when he saw him dead. seven others were hurt. two are fighting for their lives in a hospital. we were shaking this woman says.

second before the attack this video shows the gunman in a grocery store buying food. he pulls a rifle from his backback and begins killing. bullets flying every where. >> i wait but it was' like -- >> reporter: a manhunt is under way for the shooter. israeli media reporting police have identified an arab israeli suspect. this could be country's first isis inspired attack. investigators say the motive may be criminal. threatened israel. with the killer still at large his motive is unclear. >> reporter: brandon england. >> jennifer: also on 7, it's not what a pilot expects to see when getting ready to land at logan airport. a drone getting too close for comfort. happened to one jet blue flight at logan and officials are senning a

jadiann thompson has more. >> reporter: a scare in the air on new years day. >> thinking about something crashing into the plane, isn't very reassuring. >> reporter: jet blue crew says just after lunchtime they were' coming in for a under ling an reported seeing a drone about one mile northeast of the airport and some 800 feet in the air. just one week ago on christmas day, nearly the same thing happened. an air canada express crew saw a drone just after 1:00 pm roughly two miles from the runway. it too was about 800 feet up. >> the technology is moving fastser than laws. >> reporter: laws are in place but not everyone is following them. massport is reminding everyone that it's illegal to fire a drone within 500 miles of an airport. these are no-fly around logan newing logan, hanscom and norwood airport.

get a registration number before taking off. new england. >> jennifer: also this morning, an alarming attack in dorchester has police investigating. after a woman said she was' grab and sexually assaulted early yesterday morning. john cuoco has the story. scared. >> reporter: early friday morning, around 6:45 new years day, boston police got a call about a woman down on colombia road in dorchester. the 29-year-old told police a man grabbed her from behind and said he had a weapon. >> if the person did threaten her he had a weapon i can only imagine how scary it is for someone. it can be scary for a man, woman, a young lady like that, she would be scared. >> reporter: he then sexually assaulted her near ana belle street not far from where she was found. >> it is upsetting because i mean, it was a young girl so it probably could have been close in age so just to know that there are people out there taking advantage of

it could happen to lease. the. >> reporter: the suspect took off. police are trying to track that person down with the b.p.d.sexual assault unit on the case. it's frightening for people in the area trying to stay safe. >> i'm usually very aware of my surroundings and not out alone. >> reporter: john cuoco, 7 news, today in new england. >> jennifer: more news today, officers i charlton responded to a new years day crash, happen around noon. police responded to the scene yesterday where they say a truck rolled over taking a sharp turn. you can see the truck overturned on the road there. second accident of the day in the town. no injuries were reported. a hit-and-run in asex two, people were hit by a car new years day. it happened on main street. the car did not stop. both victims survived but there is no word on their condition this morning. police are investigating the incident. a case of vandalism under investigation afternoon a

about 32 stones were toppled and broken at the mount pleasant cementary. this is not the first time the cemetery has been vandalized. in november a number of graves were knocked over. dozens more were destroyed yesterday. >> a lot of them were broken, smashed beyond repair. every single time it has been a holiday you but the police department i was walking through with the chief, we went through everything they're getting more than angry at the situation and they do patrols here every shift comes through here. >> jennifer: the board has set up a go fund me account for the cemetery. they're trying to raise money to install security cameras there. new this morning, minimum wage is officially higher in massachusetts. workers in the state now must be paid at least $10 an hour. that is up from $9 an hour. the minimum wage will go up another dollar in 2017. the attorney general says the increase will provide

help fight poverty. also this morning blue bell creameries facing a criminal investigation. the u.s. department of justice looking into how the popular ice cream company hajed a listeriaout broke. prosecutors are examining whether company executives committed wrong doing. ten people were reported sick, three of them died. camille cosby will have to testify in seven case against her husband. seven women are suing comedienne bill cosby. she has information relevant to the lawsuit. the 78-year-old comedian was charged with sexual assault for the first time this week. cost de appeared in a pennsylvania courtroom answering to a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault. a hearing is scheduled for january 14. costby speaking out for the

on monday and tuesday, and we expect some cold air in place by then. scattered clouds out there. patches of clouds right now. even had a couple of snow flurries mostly north and west of boston. i think most of the snow showers and flurry activity is going to be across the mountains and then back up into upstate new york, especially downwind of the great lakes, some of the lake-effect snow beginning to fizzle out. weather off to the north and west is quiet out through chicago, and to the north and we're actually going to be watching the weather coming in from our north. there are a couple of showers across ontario and quebec but overall as a cold front comes on through, it's going to be uneventful for a lot of us in terms of precipitation. however it'll feel the, much cold air in place, no question about that, on monday. so this forecast model going through the weekend. again it almost looks like testimony' showing you a blank map because we don't expect much in the way of snow but late tomorrow

possibility. quiet. 7:00 in the morning, some of the clouds, and even snow showers building across the ocean. that will be the beginning station of some ocean effect snow developing off the coastline as this cold air from canada comes straight south through new england. when you get that arctic air passing over the relatively warm waters, got to remember december these water temperatures that are running about 46 degrees, very mild for this time of the year. when you get the cold arctic air passing over the relatively warm waters it's an unable air mass and you get a lot of the water vapor, aroadways, you get the ocean-effect snow like they get downwind of the great lakes coming in off the ocean and not the lakes there and i do expect showers and squalls across the cape and the islands as we get into monday afternoon. and into tuesday morning. perhaps up to a few inches of it. especially from hyannis to chatham. over to provincetown. and down to nantucket.

much of the new england although a couple of flurries and snow showers have been out there. don't expect much today. seasonable weather. upper 30s, even closer to 40 by the time we get into tomorrow afternoon. so it is a dry weekend with seasonable temperatures. but the big story monday and tuesday will be the arctic blast. first true cold air of the season that gets down to southern new england. ocean effect snow across the cape. more on the forecast ahead. >> jennifer: thank you. at 8:32 here are today's top stories. a jet blue flight spotting a at logan airport. it happened yesterday around noon. crew members saw the drone a mile northeast of logan airport. the flight landed safely. the f.a.a.is investigating. boston police say a 29-year-old woman was friday morning. it happened in dorchester near ana bell street. the woman told police a man grabbed her from behind,

sexually assaulted her. police are still searching for the suspect. a wreck in fitchburg, two children and two adults hurt after crashing their atv's. victims are recovering in the hospital as investigators try to figure out what happened. kelli o'hara has the latest from fitchburg. >> reporter: a new year's eve joy ride ends in a devastating accident for several fitchburg families appear the two a.t.v.'s somehow collide on the road. the impacts injuring all four people including two little boys. >> 6-year-old was in respiratory arrest. not breathing, we've had a.t.v. accidents in the past. the problem is there is no protection, it's like, you know similar to a motorcycle accident. >> reporter: that 6-year-old flown to umass medical center in worcester friends say he is in stable condition today. also injured a 7-year-old boy with a severe leg injury. firefighters say one of the

lost his leg in the crash. another man taken to leominster hospital with a head injury. firefighters say this accident was bad. >> it's unfortunate. it was new year's eve and you know, it's a tragedy that it happened. you know, people were, their lives are changed you know, forever because of it. >> reporter: kelli o'hara, 7 news, today in new england. >> jennifer: also on 7 tragedy in hanson when a driver loses control and hits a woman. police say just before christmas a car crossed the center line and hit the jogger. the car crashed into a utility pole snapping it. 32-year-old amanda russel, a labor and delivery further at beth israel was training for the boston marathon. she was rushed to hospital but pass aid way a few days later. a fellow nurse will now run the marathon in her place. eaton says russel will be with her in spirit. >> i always hear her voice in my head, go for it.

go for it bus that is the type of person she was. >> jennifer: russel had raised nearly $500 on her marathon fund-raising page. it now stands at more than $16,000. the accident remains under investigation. no charges have been filed at this time. two neighbors racing into action when they heard some calls for help. those calls were coming from a young boy who had fallen through the ice into the water below struggling to stay above the surface. susan tran has more on the big save. >> he broke throughed thin part. >> reporter: a nine-year-old boy fell through the identification of this pond in acton. an was in great danger wednesday afternoon. >> i heard this screams coming from outside. opened the door and saw the young man flailing out here. >> reporter: dennis called 911, a person who heard cries as well grabbed his friend who ran into the water to get him. >> i crushed all the ice out to him.

and i grabbed him and then basically dragged him a little bit and i lefted him up. >> reporter: he remembered seeing three kids walking through the pond and he made sure to keep his window on the popped side open. >> the children, cry, say, help, help, help. >> reporter: police say the 9 nine-year-old slip and fell in. >> he went right into the wall after the boy. pulled him right out. >> reporter: the pond may be deep for a child but was safe enough for him to go in. on the shore. >> reporter: he passed boy on on the neighbors are grateful everyone played a this child's life. >> you are just trained to act and just, you know, you help people. >> reporter: susan tran, 7 news today in tuned. >> jennifer: more detailed, officials in dubai trying to cool down the 63-story skyscraper that

the fire broke out close to the world's tallest building where a fireworks display was set to begin. authorities reported several minor injuries. no one was killed during the fire. some residents are still shocked. >> we were really shocked because it was burning right up the building. all the way. and we came to see if the fireworks were going to be going and the lights were turned off. we went back to the flat. they were' explosions. we didn't know what was happening. >> jennifer: dubai officials say an investigation is under way to find out what caused the fire. a deadly attack in afghanistan rocking the capital killing a 12-year-old boy and injuring more than a dozen other people. the suicide attack set off a powerful exmotion in kabul yesterday. officials say it was the latest in a series of bombings, 15 people were taken to the hospital. the boy was found dead at the scene.

the bombing. rescuers in china are working to pull 17 trapped miners from a kollps ad well. it happened on christmas day. officials say the well drilling process has to go slowly to ensured miners' safety. this is after one rescue well collapsed thursday night flooding the living space for four trapped under ground. one person has died since the collapse. a police cruiser stolen and crashed into the woods in north carolina. you can see the damage left behind here. the officer left his keys in the ignition talking to people about a fight at a local bar. police say a drunk man snuck into the cruiser and sped off. not long after they found the car totaled in the woods. the man was arrested and faces several charges now. an apparent carjacking caught on camera. police in cleveland on the hunt for a man they say carjacked an usually drive then took off. the 75-year-old driver is

shocking attack. he believes he was set up and that is just the begin. here is adam williams. >> reporter: police are trying to identify this man for his alleged role in the alleged carjacking of a uber >> that is the driver. >> reporter: the uber driver says he was apprehensive about the late-night fare especially when the suspects asked to see his i.d.to prove he was an uber driver. when the man then asked him to drive down a street to pick up a female friend -- >> don't you want to have a good time. >> i said, at that point red flags going up all over the place. i, i lied and i said no, i'm married. i want to get home and wherever you want to go i'll take you. >> reporter: the driver morris dodson says it was at that point that the suspect became hostile and announced his true intentions. >> empty your pockets. he said empty your pockets.

>> jennifer: welcome back on this saturday morning. a live look out towards the navy yard in a charlestown. it looks bright and beautiful out there, today, chris, a little chilly and i got a peek at your seven-day forecast. i saw a single digit on there. >> reporter: tuesday morning, a lot of people saying no, no, too soon. you knew it was going to come. 32 degrees in boston. 20 the dew point. dry air mass in place west and southwesterly breeze, had a pap of clouds that worked over the city. that is sliding off to the east. temperatures consistent in the upper 20s and lower seasonable levels compared had. that was record breaking by decembers on record in the city of boston, makes up for

when it was the second coldest month on record in boston, 24 is the wind chill. 14 in worcester. these numbers not nearly as cold as what they'll be monday night. a lot of us seeing wind chill factors below 0 on monday night. quiet weather across much of southern new england. had a coup flurries earlier in the boston metro area north and west. but now more sunshine. a lot of the snow showers and flurries up across northern new england. you notice even across northern new england, the temperatures aren't all that much colder. 20s and 30s. so if you are heading up skiing for the next couple of days temperatures running into the lower 30s and they've had some flurries and snow showers. if you are extending a ski vacation beyond sunday it'll turn sharply colder monday afternoon and tuesday, here is a forecast i haven't had to give much because we had little chance to get any freezing were in here but if you are one ever the folks that put up the backyard
