welcome back, an amazing save after a sail turtle got washed from home. the turtle got stranded on the shores of the bay. >> aquarium workers said it's the furthest north they rescued a sea turtle in january. adam williams has more on this story. >> reporter: the 20-year-old was watching along the beach monday morning when she noticed something a bit odd. >> she basically stopped in her tracks and signaled to us that there was something in front of her. >> reporter: beta saw this sea turtle washed up on the shore stranded and struggling to move. once beta saw what was wrong, she signaled for help. >> she put her tail up, looked at the turtle. looked at us, and waited for us

>> reporter: leah contacted a marine biologist she knew who was able to take it to the aquarium aquarium. >> this newfoundland see this sea turtle made a difference. becauses it a a cold morning. beta is a rescue talk. that gave her instinct to save the turtle's life. >> i think she had that instinct and was rescuing someone other than a person. >> reporter: the turtle is doing well. as beta a hero. >> reporter: i'm adam news 7 news today in new england. man's best friend becomes turtle's best friend. because they are so grateful for what beta did, they are going to name the turtle after her. >> that breed is known in general for being very warm and caring. >> it's like the nancy of dogs. >> thank you. i think.

we have more on the emotional day found in court. >> reporter: 35-year-old pleading guilty to manslaughter for the 3-month-old after father. police say it happened on the home he shared with his girlfriend when they were high on drugs and alcohol. say ing saying he was viciously assaulted the baby when he urinated on him and he threw the baby into a couch. >> it is believe the child struck the side arm of the couch. he recalls a noise not from the child but a thud. and that is the source of the skull fracture. >> there were bruises under his chin, bruises all over his head. internal examination revealed his entire brain was swollen.

word from iran their relative was being released today. it may have been part of a prison exchange. but the prosecutor's office did not elaborate. we're following more news today. heartbreaking story out of hawaii where a helicopter crashed is hitting close to room. one of the 12 marines is from nearby in hingam. they set out on a training mission when two helicopters crashed into each other. they say bad weather conditions is making that search more difficult. also this morning the fbi is investigating a series of threats in schools across massachusetts. bomb threats were phoned in by an automated message. schools were evacuated in dorchester, plymouth and several towns on the cape. while this was happening here, schools in maryland were getting the same call.

after police say that driver took three kids to school while drunk. he crashed that taxi. the kids were not hurt. they told police they feared for their lives. also said they saw the driver taking situation of whiskey. police say they found a half empty bottle of whiskey in the car. of the driver admitted to taking a value-type prescription drug about an hour before. also on "7." a local college trying clear up confusion after receiving hate mail. wheaton college said they were getting threatening letters for wheaton college in illinois. the other college gained national attention after putting one of the teachers on leave. they've been trying respond to the messages to clear up the confusion. changes are coming to government center. the parking garage is getting a
