it's the light fluffy snow. victoria warren has been out in the elements all morning long. if you take all the factors this is one of the happen i yessest snowstorm i've covered. they haven't had snow week after week after week and it's not that bad. you can see where they treated the road and got the plows out very easy travel in that situation. but the side roads slippery. folks were happy to get up and get outside cleaning up. shovelling and smiling in middleboro. it's a holiday too. that makes it easy. monday morning snowfall on day where schools are closed many jobs are off and traffic is light. easier. add to that the fact we're feed. it's not that bad. maybe 4 or 5 inchings of snow.

right now police are stepping up patrols as they search for three suspect behind a terrifying attack in chelsea. young women was walking down the street when shes beaten, robbed and slashed by three men. she managed to get herself to the hospital. the whole thing left them on edge. i feel like we have to be extra careful. there's only one light. there's no light. we want lights. where the light it's dangerous without lights. this morning the victim is recovering at the hospital. a man from hingham waming up home for the first time since released from custody in iran where he was held captive for more than months.

we have the wind advisory in effect for the cape and islands until 6:00 p.m. tomorrowening and then i think that will be expanded to most of southern new england tomorrow as well. windchill temperature overnight tonight it will feel like below zero out in worcester. very chilly tomorrow. you can dress for the numbers zero in boston. and for all of the day tomorrow windchill reading will stay in the single digits. kris, back to you. >> wednesday, thursday and friday the cold air staying in place. we have to watch this for friday night saturday and saturday night. we are not sure of the exact track. it's critical to track the closely. if they get close enough to new england that can bring in precipitation beginning friday into saturday. if it stays further to the south it's a glancing shot. it's something we have to keep an eye on. friday night plans into the weekend just stay tuned on this.

two men beat their pet with a stick. the story truly disturbing. it all happened right in their own front yard. police search for two people responsible. i'm glad my dog is alive today. >> they are no heart. alexis said her dog was attacked by two men who used a stick to abuse abby. >> it makes me sick to my stomach to think that somebody would do that to my dog. alexis said her friend heard the dog barking when he ran out the two men took off in black sedan allegedly shouting racial slurs. abby suffered serious wound. they were blunt force injury. a lot of bruising. some skin damage as well. it was very severe beating. >> so severe that abbies

emergency vet. her eyes swollen shut. you can see the blood test in her eye. she has like the wound in her face. animal control believes this was a targeted attack. i'm mortified. it's so so so sad. for alexis thises something random and disturbing. i don't know why they would do something to an animal. police are still searching for the suspect here. if you know who did it or have any information you are urged to give them a call. boston police look for help solving a shooting that happened in broad daylight. a 30-year-old mans shot three time including once in the chest when he opened the front door of his home around noon on sunday. he was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is expected to be okay. neighbors are shocked. >> he's not a kid it would be afraid of.

i don't know what happened. ist in church. through the street. police look for the video to come forward as they search for a shooter. the coast guard is expanding its search alternate sea for 12 marines including one from massachusetts since their training helicopters collided off the coast of hawaii on thursday. large surf and strong current make this search difficult. they have found life rafts and debris. but so far no sign of those missing marines. hingham native christopher orlando was onboard one of those helicopters. his mother retired massachusetts state trooper. auburn, police are looking for whoever shot out the window of more than dozen cars. several people spent sunday cleaning up glass. it happened sometime saturday

neighbors sayen though they are frustrated they are grateful that no one got hurt. probably just young kids looking to have a good time at someone else's expense. it could have been worse, you know. police are urging anyone with information to please give them a call. state police investigate the cause of this deadly crash that happened in peabody. the car rolled over on route one near lowell street. police identified the victim as 46-year-old man from peabody. police in rhode island say they are close to completing a year's long investigation into former red sox pitcher kurt shillings bankrupt videogame company. there's still a boston for criminal charges. his company 38 studio went bankrupt after a failed 75 million lone deal in 2010. more news today. police officer in ohir o shot and killed while on duty

to figure out what led up to shooting. they suggest he left the scene in officer's actual vehicle. police have arrested two people in this case. also on 7 a family in new york is desperately trying to locate their daughter last seen leaving la guardia airport. she vanished without a trace. the family the holding out how many she will return safely. it hits you from the blindside. what's questioning on. friends and family of sieraa just want answers. her family said she just finished speaking with her supervisor and left the airport and scheduled later that day to work. but never made the flight and hasn't been seen since. she did go to i believe it's the delta terminal where her supervisor works out of.

and then spoke to supervisor. she noticed there was something different about her. her father said she had no enemies nor did she have a boyfriend. earlier in the week her father said she spoke on the phone to her older sister who said something seemed off. she took a flight to be sierra. was gone. her roommates noticed that about her. they noticed there was some things that just changed in the last week with her. >> friends and family have set up a face book page and use the hatch tag find sierra. one person posted still looking for my sweet friend. there's a lot of people that love her. and want to experience as they say sweet sierra again.

there's new details this morning in the crisis in flynt, michigan involving the water there. civil right leader jesse jackson calling for more action and more investigation. he said that city should have police tape around it because it's an actual crime scene. the drinking water there is not safe to drink because of high levels of lead present. president barack obama declared a state of emergency for the city. but jackson wants a stronger disaster declaration. under federal law disaster declaration are for natural disaster not man made one like what they deal with in flinted. the led problem started in 2014 when the city decided to switch its water supply to try and save money. now high level of led can be found in children's blood living in flint. happening today police are

people in upstate new york they say the body of two men and one woman were found in a home or sunday. the three victims were all current or former students of the nearby university. police say there were no guns involved but they did find a knife. that could be hint as to what happened. we have some video coming in the wild weather in florida where people cleanup after tornadoes rip through the western part of that state. two people were killed and four children sent to the hospital after tornado hit mobile homes there in manatee, county. another tornado damaged part of siesta key near sarasota. you see the homes that were destroyed. and some cars damaged. two people had to be pulled from the rubble. they are fortunately expected to be okay. caught on camera. this ended in fiery explosion. unmanned rocket successfully launched a satellite into space. things went downhill when it

single digits and lower-to-middle teen. it's cold outside. we will have it blow out in the face. wind increasing tlauout the day. the temperature not moving much. lower to mid 20s this afternoon. temperature upper single digits to lower-to-middle teens in the cold air holding in place not only through tonight but through the next several days. low in boston tonight about 15 degrees. 12 in billerica. nine in worcester. down through southeastern mass and cape and island. the story also the wind not only today but over the next couple of day. right, danielle. exactly right. as we head into the afternoon we're trading in the snow showers for the wind and then that wind will bring in that cold air. upper 20s today and then mid 20s tomorrow. but it will feel even colder than that. because of this wind.
