that's on 93 southbound like i mentioned. the expressway a slow drive from braintree to boston. that drive about 24 minutes. south of town no major from 128 then eastbound in newton this is new accident locking the left lane. that's the pike eastbound. 128. 128 into boston. that's a slow drive. route one not tooany delays to tell you about. 26 minutes into the pike. we have that accident in newton. 93 southbound, 128 to zakim bridge. 24 minutes if you take the t it's on time. thank you. let's get to the breaking news where two people were killed when a house went up in frames. now state investigators are trying to determine the cause. nicole oliverio live in groton with the latest.

chief can't figure out exactly what the cause of the fire was because they still don't know the origin. when they arrived this home was ungulfed in flames. you can see the damage and what is giving firefighters trouble the entire first floor is gutted. the second floor reduced to the studs and two people sadly were killed. firefighters were only say it was two adults. family friends that came by the scene just to see how bad the fire was say it was a couple that lived in this home. the calls came in for help around 11:30 last night. firefighter say they don't know how long the fire had been burning before they arrived here on scene. and they didn't know initially that two people were inside the home but they say it become clear quickly that two people were unaccounted for. those two people were found on the first floor of the home. again, taking a live look here you can see firefighters getting ready to clean up and leave. the fire marshall'ses of is

district attorney's office because of the two deaths. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you the latest it. nicole oliverio, 7 news "today in new england." >> state health leader confirming a boston man has the zika virus. the cdc has been warning about this virus for weeks now. it's now here in what we know about the patient. well, sarah the zika started caribbean. the man who contracted the virus travelled to one of effect theed areas. he is now recovering. in fact most people who get the virus don't show symptoms. about 20% who do show mild symptoms including fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis. the real concern here is for

medical records a letter from 74-year-old long-time doctor said the vermont senator is overall good health. hillary clinton will campaign with former congress women gabby giffords in iowa this weekend. last night clinton spoke at an iowa middle school about the importance of childhood education and affordable college. 13 children are recovering where minor injuries after their school bus crashed into a sedan in frame ingham. this was thursday afternoon and it happened on their way home from school. there were 40 kids onboard all in elementary school. 13 of them had to be taken to local hospitals. they were treated for things like bumps and bruises. they say this was a scary experience. >> all the kids just hit the side of the bus and hit their heads. their knees.

a bunch of students crying. >> were you crying too? >> no. the driver of the car also received medical treatment. two people including a firefighter recovering this morning after getting injured at a fire in foxboro. according to the sun chronical a worker suffered minor burns a firefighter was injured. the fire chief believes that gas tanks causeded several explosions there. >> there's new details about the stand off in original. it resulted in the death of one of the protestor. footage shows the police step up a barricade blocking a car tuesday. the driver of the car was 55-year-old. he exited vehicle and started running. he then reached for a gun and that's when police shot and killed him. the fbi said one person has left the refuge.

you too, guys. heading into the weekend warmer temperatures in store too. maybe that has you outside for nice run walk the dog play in the park with the kids. 36 in boston. we have cloud cover out there. but also light wind. it really is not all that bad. if you step out the tour. you won't have to be bundle up as we have been. because of the light wind also still some areas with dense fog, hyannis with visibility less than a mile. patchy light fog as you get into boston as well. we'll start to see that mixing out as we get into this afternoon. as these winds do pick up just a touch. it isn't until this evening that it get breezy. danielle will talk more about that in a few minutes. current temperatures in the low-to-mid 30s for us. 36 in the city of boston. 34 in norwood. the temps not going anywhere right now. with the cloud cover around us. we have dry air in place, though, a few spot showers that you can see snow showers moving through just north of worcester and holden.

as we head through the day this is our set up. storm system, well out to sea. that's bringing some light rain showers to nantucket. but it's missing cape cod. we have this dry air that's in place between these two areas of more moisture. as this moisture squeezes in from the west we will get pops of rain and snow showers into this afternoon. you can see them firing up. it could be wet snowflakes. we could also see heavier band laying down a quick coating of snow in some spots. but for most of us, its less than an inch as we head through the day today. i don't see any areas exceeding that amount. light snow showers through the afternoon. as we head into this afternoon, these temperatures will feel cold compared what we're in store for this weekend. taking a look at our temperatures tonight early flurry clearing late. 25 to 32 with the breeze picking up. for more on that danielle gursh. thanks, bri. you mentioned the winds now.

they start to pick up a little bit. we're not talking advisory strength winds. for your commute home gusting from 25 to 30 miles per hour. then they die down for tomorrow morning if you have a nice walk, run planned tomorrow morning you don't have to worry about that. if you maybe head up north doing some skiing this weekend for tomorrow, 30s with snow showers, skiing. partly sunny and temperature in the 40s. if you travel this weekend much of the country looking quiet. but we have some storms out in the pacific northwest and that's large part thanks to el nino. speaking of el nino. 97 to '98 we had 10 inch of snow. january. and we're about on track for that this january too. and look at our seasonal snowfall total. 25 inches. just pointing it out. not saying much. as we head into the next couple of day we will not add to that number. anything can happen. of course.

temperatures setting in for the second half of the weekend. cooler air with us now. there's a cool front that pushes through this afternoon with those snow showers. but then the mild air settling in this weekend and it does stick around with us. forecast highs in the 50s. mossably some areas cracking 60 degrees as we head into the middle of next week. and just compare that to last year let's not forget on february 2nd boston also picked up 16.2 inches of snow. we don't have any of that on the 7 on 7 forecast as you can see the temperature really getting mild into the middle of next week. i have to tell you can't get too used to it. long-range model show the middle of february the cold is back with us. we'll have to state on our guard you know it's new england anything can happen. we'll see you in a few. scandalous choice for women of the year. hasty pudding room honoring cary washingtongism the top honors yesterday. >> that was great. she's clearly funny.

this happened on western avenue. thankfully no police officers were injured. so that's the good news here. we have crew headed to the scene. we'll bring you the breaking details as we get more information. >> we have more news a fiery rescue caught on camera. police rushing to seen after reports of potential suicide. a man dousing his car in gasoline. and then he set it on fire. when the chief got to fire he saw the man unconscious on the ground and sprang into action. all while ammunition inside the cars exploding. like i said when you show up none of that is running through your mind. you react to doing what you need to do at that time. the man is being treated for smoke inhalation and depression. a thief thwarted by a bank manager. this is northern california. a man wearing a mask approached the back door of the bank. but the manager saw this person

latest let's go to jennifer eagon. health officials have confirmed one case in the city. they say the patient a man living in boston contracted the virus while travelling to a country where it's widespread. the world's health organization sounding the alarm saying zika virus is spreading quickly. last year the virus detected in the americas. where it is now spreading explosively. as of today cases have been reported in 23 countries and territories in the region. high. mosquitoes. the big concern is that virus can cause a birth defect that effects the size of a babies brain and head. there's been cases in south america and asia. the cdc is warning women who are pregnant or considering getting pregnant to talk to their doctors if they've travelled to areas mosquitoes can carry the virus.

how unpresidential he is. plus he humiliated his party. maybe trump is right. and i'm wrong. there wouldn't be the first time. but trump's move actually makes me wonder whether he wants to be president. the winner of the debate was florida marco rubio. continually attacked but never seriously wounded. and while the other candidates talked like candidates he talked above them like a president. the loser was the republican party. because the party appears to be lost and is certainly broken. when you can't get can all your candidates to debate all you can do the be embarrassed and the g.o.p. should be. i suppose the tv rating will decide who won the show down between trump and the rest of the republicans, if you wanted to watch a future president then i think you watched the debate. and if you wanted to see a performance, then i think you tuned into the donald. in the newsroom. instinct.

dan hausle will be in iowa through next week. you can look for his life reports beginning right here on 7news. also this morning police in southern california have arrested another person as part of their search for three escaped inmates. authorities say the 44-year-old woman was a teacher at the jail. and tools. the woman taught one of the men and investigators belief the two had some sort of relationship. it developed into closer relationship where she then began providing information -- him information. i don't know exactly what she knew in terms of what his plans were to escape. we do know that she provided him information in police believe inmates may have stolen a van so far ten people have been arrested in connection with last friday's escape. the infamous teen is set to face a judge. ethan couch and his mother were

her name the beka piza. she will be in sydney, australia. she started the world marathon challenge in antarctica last week. she is 35 years old from belmonte. she has won all six races so far. i can't believe not only is she accomplishing this but she's won every race. so sheegs going to be the first american women to come mrooelt the challenge and i just love that one picture. looks like it should be on national geographic. where she is running with the arctic tundra. you know who else is runner. bri eggers can i say you qualified for boston marathon. i'm not fast at all. but hoping to run university. and training for it. next week a great week for training. anybody else that the running for that. light winds now. we have some wind. that's definitely helping blast out some of the fog we had earlier this morning. visibility improving. just a low cloud that are still hanging around with us. and they will stishg around

current temperature at freezing. 36 for boston. and we're kind of wedged with some dry air right now in between two systems. one that's offshore and bringing some light rain showers to nantucket. and maybe the outer cape from time to time. but i'm even doubtful of that. we've seen a couple of snow worcester. at least blips on the radar. that's the story through the afternoon. you can see the snow showers to west and northwest of us. that's what is passing through through this afternoon. that increases the moisture in our atmosphere. could bring pops of snow showers even wet snowflakes possibly sleet pellets as we make into the afternoon. she's are isolated showers. at all. if you get a heyer pop of snow you could actually see a coating a quick coating to even possibly an inch of snow. but i have hard time believing
