brady of deflate gate. hear what his dad has to say about that. let's go to chris lambert in >>meteorologist: they provided chris. temperatures still in the 50s. yet in new england you know the weather can change quickly here. we have winter storm watch for late tonight into friday itself. 55 degrees in boston. 55 in plymouth. 57 norwood. showers more widespread earlier this morning. still a couple of lingering showers through the next few hour then it should dry out for a while this afternoon into early this evening. couple of things that we are watching. the colder air across the great lakes that will work into southern new england overnight tonight at the same time you grow this cool front that's working through right now and you follow down to carolina coastline. there's a couple of waves of low pressure and as the secondary one does ride a very close to

increase the rain chances again overnight tonight. with that colder air moving on in that rain changes to snow by about 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 in the morning then the steadiest of the snow in time for morning commute. couple of hours either side of the morning commute. i expect a messy mix of heavy wet snow on the roadways and slush for the morning commute tomorrow. perhaps up to few inch of welt snow in the city of boston. 3 to 6 south of the city. this will be one of those heavy west tasty snows that sticks to everything with temperature close to 33 or 34 in the morning. we dry out for the weekend. more on this storm and what to expect over the weekend, ahead. it's danielle's turn with traffic. still a slow drive from braintree into boston. we had an incident south of town that actually cleared. and right now we're just lacking

123, 24 and 95 no major delay. pike from 495 to 128 not too bad then 128 into boston a slow drive. you can see the red there. north of town 93 southbound slow and go. we had an earlier accident in redding on 128 southbound. and 129 that's just cleared route 1 heading into boston slow and go as well. let's take a look at the drive times as you head out the door this morning. 25 minutes on the expressway into boston from the braintree split into town on the pike from 128, 25 minutes as well. 128 to zakim bridge. if you take the t this morning back to you guys. >> we're following breaking news from brockton this morning where a female brockton high scale students hit by a truck. let's go to nicole oliverio. she's on the phone and she's live at the scene. nicole? >> we can tell you the scene has completely cleared. that female student we're tolds taken to good samaritan high school. we're told her injury are nonlife threatening.

the back entrance to brockton high along belmonte street. a pickup truck hit that teen as she was crossing the street. you can see the damage to the front passenger side of that pickup truck. so we know that the driver did stop on scene. whether or not that driver is going to be charged remains to be scene. again that student is taken to good samaritan hospital with nonlife threatening injury. this is third pedestrian accident this week. for now that's the latest live in brockton. nicole oliverio. 7 news "today in new england." thank you. let's turn now to new hampshire and the democrats ready to gohead tohead. it's the first one on one debate for hillary clinton and bernie sander. on the republican side then time that war of words between ted cruz and donald drum continues to heat up. nancy chen live in fort smith with more on the campaign trail. nancy? >> good morning to you. you can tell it's crunch time by

we share a lot of the same big progressy goals. but we have different ways of going about them. that said sanders the problem. i don't know any progressive who has a super pact and takes $15 million from wall street. marco rubio who is up to second place in our 7news tracking poll picked up endorsement of rick santorum who dropped out wednesday. someone that can bring this country together, not just moderates and conservatives but judge and old. that's rubio's nn pitch. >> i know if i'm the republican nominee we will win election. donald trump back in new hampshire after accusing ted cruz of telling that ben carson was dropping out on voter not. cruz said trump is losing it. >> we're libel to wake up and

would have nuked denmark. >> again trump is back in new hampshire today. he has events planned in portssmith as does ted cruz. 7news "today in new england." thanks for that recap. and on just one station this morning we have our exclusionsy umass/wl owell powelling. >> the political ground is moving a little bit. we can see iowa impact and the war of words we've been seeing marco rubio is gaining ground. donald trump is still in first. we'll be clear with that. he has 36%. but marco rubio takes over second place. and 15% for ted cruz. i'm sorry 14% goes to ted cruz. jeb bush has 8% and john kasich 7%. so for the rest of the republicans chris christy, 5%. ben carson, 4, carly fiorina, 4 and undecided 8% there. our tracking poll shows what's

trump on top. he's down two points. this the first time he cropped dropped at all in our polling. a gain of 3 points. ted cruz holding support slipping into third place. jeb bush lost a point. democratic race hillary clinton can start thinking about a comeback possibly. bernie sanders is going in the wrong direction according to our poll numbers. sander still does have a significant lead over hillary clinton, 58% to 36% which is a 22-point margin. but let's take a look at the direction of the tracks. here's where it's interesting. sanders is down three points. hillary clinton is up 4 points in fact that's our biggest single gain since we began our polls. so far things are k laing good for mark you rubio and clinton. not good for anyone else. you want to stay with 7news throughout the primary. you will have live coverage

>> also on 7 bad weather being blamed for sparking a fire alternate this multifamily home in lawrence strong winds fuelling the flames after taking down a tree and then power lines along with that. let's head out to laurence now. victoria warren is there. vicki, some pets were able to escape this fire as well. that's good news. they were able to rescue the pets. everyone inside the home was able to get out. that's great news. because first game the wind. the wind brought down this tree you see behind me. the tree brought down some power lines and the next thing anyone knew this home was on fire. a fire literally erupting in an incident. i hear the tree fell down. and then boom. a wind driven fire in lawrence sudden strong gusts took trees down all across the city. >> a tree limb was knocked down and it took down the power lines.

time everyone made it out safely. the home is old and the chief said the wind just pushed the flame through. and that is power line that fell stayed live which really held firefighters back. this side of the street at the time had power lines down. so we weren't able to get water from this end. we had to go to the other end. the fire and city wide wind damage stretching resources then. other departments were called in to help. the home a complete loss and one firefighter was hurt. >> he hurt his hip. he's been transported to lawrence general by the paramedics. he should be all right. >> great news the firefighter is expected to be okay. and addition to everyone in this home being a i believe to get themselves out safely, lawrence fire department did rescue three dogs and one bird. live in lawrence, victoria warren 7news "today in new england." new this morning police need your help trying to find an armed robber on the run. look a this video.

hooded sweatshirt waved and knife and demanded cash wednesday afternoon. that clerk fought back when the suspect grabbed the register. then he uses register to smash out the front glass in that door to try to get away. look at that diving head first. interesting story. it's been more than a year since we first heard the term deflate gate. some are questioning whether or not the nfl has evidence that could prove that tom brady is innocent. nicole oliverio has more. >> reporter: what the nfl has prove the patriots didn't cheat last year after being accused of deflating footballs. yesterday the nfl head official said ref's recorded ball measurements and gave that information to the nfl. right now evaluating the information. we didn't have any violations this year. but, again, wear still in that evaluation phase to look at

55 in the city of boston. 48 in orange. the front working through. not a dramatic drop off. in fact temperature sliding couple of degrees during the afternoon. you can see the winds from the northwest. along and ahead of the front scattered showers filter throughout the city of boston. this the light stuff compared downpours we had late yesterday. once the front clears the coastline. expect some peeks of sunshine this afternoon.

the upper 40s and lower 50s. although cooling off quickly this evening with numbers dropping down to about 43 by 7:00 p.m. 36 in buffalo. 16 greenbay. this cold air will work in late overnight tonight. crucial to the forecast here. because as this front get hung up off the east coast and way of low pressure rides up the coastline and throws more moisture into southern new england what will start up again as rain late this evening 10:00 or 11:00 transitions over to snow once we get the colder air in place between 3:00 and 5:00 in the morning and this snow will be steady. it's on heavy at time during the morning commute tomorrow. especially close to boston. down through southeastern mass as we transitioned from the rain to snow. this will continue until lunch time. afternoon we start drying out boston to worcester. early afternoon holding on to snow. by late date peek of sun before the sun sets. how much snow up to few inches

3-6 south of the city. a lot of this falling during the morning commute. we expect slick travel out there for the morning hours. especially between 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. poor travel at times with that wet snow sticking to the road giving a greasy sliding to the road. and that snow tapers off with temperatures above freezing. >> it's a heavy wet snow at this temperatures 33, 34 degrees for the storm. for more over to danielle. you mention the colder air working through as we head into the overnight hours. you can see 2:00 a.m. temperatures are still in the upper 30s low 40s. we're probably still dealing with rain and then as we approach your early morning hours by 5:00 a.m., temperatures are dropping to around freezing. this is when we expect the rain to turn to snow and then these are temperature that hold steady through about lunch time and for

we're certainly getting a late start we have a lot of snow so far. 10.4 and 11.1 in worcester. we have below normal snowfall. our temperature so far this last february. by this time last year we already had 16.2 inch of snow. we're not talking about snow totals anywhere close to that for tomorrow. and then we are talking about colder air working in for next week. you. with that colder air come the potential of more snow monday into tuesday. milder air see you later. cold air coming back. we're right on the edge. when you're right on the edge of the deep trough of cold air you are right on the edge of the storm track as well. we'll have to watch the potential for more snow in here late monday into tuesday. otherwise the weekend does look nice and quiet. you have outdoor plans.

7news now turning to zika virus and the governor of florida declaring a state of emergency as there are at least 9 cases of the virus in that state. health officials believe all the patient contracted the mosquito borne illness while travelling to effected country. cdc adding jamaica and tonga. pregnant women in particular should be cautious because of the risk of birth defects. also united and delta air lines allow people to opt out where the zika virus has been detected. officials in colorado are investigating whether former surgical technician could have exposed thousand of people to hiv and hepatitis b and c. the hospital which is outside of denver said the man was stealing pain medication and in doing so may have switched certain drugs. >> there's concern with this

you are saying what snow? temperatures into the 50s. but we have cold front coming through. it's cold enough air to west that will work on in as soon as this front slides to east of us. along that front one wave of low pressure will ride up the coastline that will allow for precipitation increase. getting rid of few showers over the next hour or two. and then later on this evening rain reemerging into southern new england. the thing about this rain, though temperature will be in the low 40s and then fall back into the low 30s. between 3:00 and 5:00 in the morning worcester into boston we're flipping over to snow about 7:00 in the morning down toward the cape cod canan. but the heaviest snow across eastern mass coinciding with the morning commute tomorrow. i do see this being a messy friday morning commute with steady to at times heavy snow. most of the snow between 5:00 and noon. up to 6 inches of snow.

we're seeing more of what iowa impact is having on this war of road. >> marco rubio is gaining ground. but it's marco rubio taking second place with 15%. ted cruz with 14% while jeb bush at 8%. for the rest of the republicans chris christy at 5%. ben carson 4. carly fiorina, 3 and undecided at 8%. our tracking poll show all trump on top. but down 2 points. the first time he's dropped in our polls since it began. mark you rubio shooting into second place with the 15% gain of 3 points. ted cruz heading support but then slips to third place because of rubio's gains. jeb bush lost a point no change for john kasich. in the democratic race hillary clinton can maybe start thinking about making a comeback.

that's when the crews jumped into action bringing out the ladders to try to help out. out. escort him out of the building. >> just run quickly to save the life. safely. two firefighters were taken to the hospital for minor injuries >> popular bar near fenway park is striking out and closing its doors for good. who is on first is now going out of business. the popular spot for red sox fans for money than 35 years. and the decision to close its doors comes after several shooting that happened outside the bar at the end of last year. and mbta train conductor was shot and killed outside whose on first. on thanks giving day. one person has been arrested in conjunction with that shooting. we're following more news today. sexual assault case against bill

he was hoping his verbal agreement not to prosecute would keep him out of the courtroom. the judge ruled that wasn't a binding agreement. it's suspected he will appeal. he's set to be back in court next month. irs hopes to have all electronic filing services up and running again today after the agency experienced a hardware failure. wednesday outage cause many of the tax processing system to be unavailable. some part of the agency's web site still aren't working properly. if you filed your return before the issue, though the irs said you will not be effected. you don't have to worry about that. and customer at mcdonalds are not loving it. they started complaining the sticks that they had ordered didn't have any cheese. class action lawsuit was filed in california that the chain is not actually using real cheese inside. the lawsuit claims that part of

we're saying 50-degree weather. how will we get stouz. great lakes. england. at the same time there's another storm system along the front that get stuck to the east of us working up the east coast. that's going to provide the moisture. initially temperature too warm to support that snow. once we break into precipitation it is rain on the on set but 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 in the morning. we transition back over to snow and down through the south shore from about 5 to 7:00 a.m. we push the rain over snow. notice the darker blue showing up. this is when we get into more intense bands of snow through southeastern mass. this where you get rate of an inch an hour across the area. this will coat the roads with the wet tasty snow and i expect a slow go for the morning. in the afternoon ride home from work we do dry it out.

temperature above the freezing mark. really highlighting the morning commute from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 or 11:00 as poor conditions on the road with steadier snow lingering through southeastern mass improvement in the afternoon. for more on temperature and when to expect the drop. back to danielle. you mention the cooler air working through the overnight hours. you can see as we head into 3:00 a.m. temperature in the upper 30s low 40s. these numbers probably supporting rain. and then as we work into 5:00 a.m. into 6:00 a.m. we drop closer to freezing. that's probably when we see the turn over to snow. that's where the temperatures really stay for much of your morning into lunch time. we're still having a slow start to winter. we have lack of snow so far. i don't know if anyone is complaining. 10.4 inch in post. now temperature big different from last february to february.
