>> breaking overnight a police officer in virginia killed in the line of duty just one day after getting sworn in. her co-workers speaking out about the loss. three people stabbed in a kkk rally in california. the violence all caught on camera. plus a plane crashes into we're talking to witnesses who watched this all unfold. the res presidential candidates making a final push before supertuesday after hillary clinton pulls off a big win down in south carolina. >> announcer: this is 7 news today in new england. >> anchor: good morning, it's 7:30 on this sunday morning. thanks for making us a part of your day. i'm kris anderson. we've plenty of news ahead. we want to get a check your

rob joins us now, temperaturewise it's better. >> reporter: warmer than it was most of the day yesterday sitting at 38 degrees, 41 would be the average high so we're almost there. a bit of a breeze so it don't feel that warm but the wind is from the southwest. usually you end up with a mild day. that is going to be the case today. satellite and radar showing cloud out there this morning. those clouds are part of a frontal boundary banging out around the canadian border. that will retreat back into canada and take the clouds with it. so a good bit of sunshine by the time we get to the afternoon. will be a bit breedsy but we spend most of the afternoon in the low to mid 50s, mild late in the evening. we'll dip back to the upper 30es a and low 40s but another mild day on top tomorrow. we'll talk about that and our next chance for rain in few minutes. >> anchor: fire at a home on willow road in marblehead. about 4:30 problems began.

sailen and swampscott fought the flames. one firefighter had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. the cause of the fire is still being investigated this morning. another breaking story from overnight, a police officer in virginia shot and killed during her first shift on the job. it happened saturday night. officer ashley gwinden responding to a call. she and two other police officers were hit by bullets after shots were fired. she died from the injuries leaving her community and fellow officers stunned. >> she was sworn in yesterday and her shift was, that was their first day working. so it, the whole thing is just tragic. >> anchor: police have arrested the suspected shooter and have not yet revealed the suspect's identity. talking politics and the race for the white house continues. all candidates focused now on supertuesday after hillary clinton pulled off a huge win against bernie

you see the vehicle involved there. police say a truck and car collided head-on. the driver of the car was killed in the crash. two people had to be rushed to the hospital in rhode island. still no word yet on what caused the accident. in plymouth a scare in the skies for a local dentist. his plane comes crashing down. you see it there flipped on its top. the witness says the plane flipped before coming to a stop belly up. the dentist was the only person on board. he was rushed to the hospital. we've more. >> reporter: the heavily damaged plane being lifted off the runway at the plymouth airport saturday noon. the f.a.a.believes it crashed while practices taking off and landing earlier in the afternoon. >> he touched down very briefly then they was' about five feet off the ground. he gunned it and so, it got really loud then he started to go up and he was at a 90 degree angel. >> reporter: she says she

seconds after she landed in another plane nearby. >> his wings snapped on the ground and his nose hit and he cartwheeled and landed on his back. >> reporter: that is how the state miss found the plane resting on its roof. pilot was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries. >> definitely head injuries. he was bloody from his head was completely covered in blood and so was the rest of him. >> reporter: the pilot was the only person in the plane when it flipped over. he is a prominent dent frist rockland. the faa and mass aeronautics are investigating how the crash happened. john kukos, 7 news, today in new england. >> anchor: new details on the deadly crash in lynn. two people were killed when this car went off the road then slammed into the side of a dunkin donuts building. there were' customers inside

kelli o'hara spoke to some witnesses. >> >> it was just unfathomable. >> it's gruesome. it was. it was a pretty serious accident. >> reporter: this is all that is left of an s.u.v. that crashed in the lynnway early saturday morning. the s.u.v.'s roof crush and caved in, parts of the car scattered all over 1 a. the two people inside a young man and woman didn't survive. >> it was just like extremely loud bang. it was really loud. >> surprising. >> very surprising to see it was that bad of an accident. >> reporter: eyewitnesses say the pair was killed instantly when they lost control of their crash and cashed into this cuppingin don't universities just after 2:00 am. >> here there were people in dunkin' donuts at the time and the car missed them by about maybe a foot. >> reporter: david zeller owns the building and says whatever caused this crash was so powerful it caused significant damage to his building and nearly killed

he says the road here is dangerous. speed is a factor and too many wrecks like these. >> there has been at last five fatalities on this stretch of the lynnway late at night. a very it's like a speedway here. okay. so, it's tragic. be nice if there were speed bumps. >> reporter: kelli o'hara, 7 news today in new england. >> anchor: also this morning, there are some new concerns about the town of maynard's water supply. leaders say there is an elevated level of a chemical that could post a risk to infants, pregnant women and women who may become pregnant. officials are saying that the water is safe to use and there is no immediate threat at this time. >> told is that long--term exposure is the issue so we've been given 90 days to mitigate this issue and we're confident we will. >> anchor: more testing will be done on the water on monday to check the levels. the town is also meeting

discuss a plan to fix the problem for good. 7 news turning to a rally in california that turned violent here. look at this video. a bloody fight broke out when kkk members and counterprotestors confronted. happening at the kkk rolly yesterday in california. shortly after the clan's arrival fighting words between the hate groups and protestors turned into flyings fists. three people were stabbed. 13 people were arrested. down in florida police say they found this missing baby girl. she is alive. authorities found this two-month-old saturday night in orlando. 200 miles away from where she was taken from. police say she was at home in fort lauderdale when she was' taken. the baby and her mother were asleep. armed gunman woke into the home taking this little girl. police are searching for the suspected kidnappers at this time. new this morning, u.s. senator charles schumer wants the fray aviation

>> anchor: 7:42. live look outside at the skyline. zakim front and the center. great start to sunday. chilly saturday but the temperatures are improving. let's get over to rob with a peek at what to expect for the rest of the day. >> getting up to the mid 50s by the afternoon hours and we'll be inned 50s for a lot of the seven-day forecast which is why we're looking at mainly rain. much better chance of rain on wednesday. it'll likely be rain but cool enough in the morning hours and cool enough late wednesday. we're going to keep an eye on it at least a couple of areas. 38 boston. 37 plymouth. across the board temperatures are about 10-15 in some spots some 20 degrees warmer now than when i was talking to you this time yesterday. so big warm-up compared to yesterday. here is why. it's the wind direction. the arrows show you where the wind is coming from blowing in from the southwest. the wind is pumping in the mild weather. it will be a lit on the breezy side today and tomorrow. starting off with cloud cover.

north. that one will retreat back into canada. take the clouds with it. mostly sunny. that is the front that will brick us a teeny tiny ever so slight chance of a little afternoon. here. big area of high pressure is pumping in the mild weather. afternoon. here comes the front tomorrow. green areas indicate areas likely to see rain. we have one speck of rain. couple of very spotty showers middle of the day tomorrow. that would be about it. tuesday looks quiet. here comes the next storm system. this looks more significant. the rain will begin probably pre-dawn hours on wednesday. temperatures in the boston area upper 30s. no worries there. but get into western mass we'll be cool enough to keep an eye on the possibility of sleet or some freezing rain. temperatures warm to the 50s just about every where for wednesday during the day. so during the day time no problems.

but as it moves away much cooler weather starts to rush in here so if the cold air gets here in time, not out of the question that things could end as a little bit of snow in some areas. mainly western massachusetts, southern vermont. late wednesday each or wednesday night before all this comes to an end. the other issue will be gusty winds. expecting that along with this front. look at the numbers for today. getting up to about 54 in boston. 5 nashua. only areas that are left out are the south coast, cape and the islands, wind off the water will keep temperatures in the 40s and with the breeze coming in off of the water will be cooler there but 54 on average. 56 tomorrow. little breezy both days. cooler on tuesday, best chance of rain on wednesday. chris, we're going to keep an eye on a coastal storm on friday. right now it'll miss us but stay tuned. >> anchor: thank you so much for the update. drive by draining caught on camera. look at this bullets flying into a south florida business when a customer los

the clerk was his top tart as nicole tells us, that store employee is lucky to be alive. >> february 7th, just before 2:00 am, watch the top of your screen. the silver car turn nos a hollywood gas station. >> does that is a danger individual. >> reporter: he is talking about the driver right there leaning back pointing a gun and firing at the back passenger window at the gas station. this clerk who asked not to be identified was behind the counter. >> i don't have no problem with nobody. >> reporter: apparently this guy had a problem. 45 minutes before the shooting this customer walked into the chevron on hollywood boulevard, just as the clerk was preparing to switch shifts with another worker. and that meant the customer would have to wait several minutes for service. >> he said, he started, like, yelling to me and he told me, you don't supposed to close. you are supposed to open 24/7. >> suspect walked out and
