i am a unifier. i would love to see the republican party and everybody get together and unify and when we unify, there's nobody, nobody that's going to beat us. i beat hillary in many polls p.. i don't think marco's going to be able to beat her. with congress. paul ryan, i don't know him well and we're going to get along well and if we don't, he's going to have to pay a big price, okay. >> and hillary clinton touch ogen the water crisis in flint, michigan and criticizing the gop. >> thank you all so much. what a super tuesday. i'm grateful to all of you who voted for me. to the volunteers and organizers. i know you've worked your hearts out. we know there are many other flints out there.
need help but wreever come too far in this country to let us turn back. we're going to build on the progress that we've made. the rhetoric we're hearing on the other side has never been lower. trying to divide america between us and them is wrong and we're not going to let it work. now this campaign moves forward to the crescent city, the motor city and beyond. [ applause ] >> ted cruz surprised some political watchers by taking oklahoma and of course, he had an impressive win in his home state of texas as well as a late victory in alaska. he pitched himself as the trump alternative. >> for the republicans that don't want to see donald as the nominee, i would welcome and encourage them. the only way to beat donald trump is for us to stand together united.
i think we lose the senate, lose to hillary, lose the supreme court for a generation and the bill of rights. it's my hope that as party we come together and say stop this madness. do not nominate a candidate who will drive the party off a cliff. >> well, cruz was able to pick up 171 delegates, rubio, 82 and the donald won 210 delegates, bringing his total to 292. clinton won seven to bernie sanders's four. but he's not too concerned. >> you're going to see a lot of election result s s come in. these are not -- this is not a general election. it's not winner take all. if you get 52%, 48%, you roughly

they're going to wait and see what president trump will do, i guess. . >> senator reed added after an impass, they spend the rest of the time talking about basketball. nbc's meteorologist bill karins is here with our wednesday forecast. >> we had severe storms yesterday. alabama got hit. some of the worst damage near birmingham. the only problem spots are northern new england. we have a wintry mess. some freezing rain, others sleet. the white is all snow and we have snow in western and cleveland and pittsburgh, numerous snow showers. we're watching a lot of snow and sleet mixture in maine. these are all winter weather advisories later today. and this is where they're going to get clauberred.

deeper into the exit poll data. we found something very promising for republicans but potentially worrying for democrats. >> we can tell you everything you're saying on the republican side, this is what we've been seeing the whole year. they're shattering records. having their best turnout ever. on the flip side, we've been seeing it down on the democrats side. since the last time they had one of these competitive primaries, that was 2008, obama. virginia, down 14%. vermont, down 13%. massachusetts, down 5, georgia down 2. look, there's two ways to look at that. one is bernie sanders, the entire message of his campaign is this is a political revelation rev revolution revolution, it's going to bring all these new people to the process that have never
if that was coming to fruition, they would be shattering records. 2008, there are democrats who say yes, it's troubling the turn out is up and the democratic turnout is down. but they would say 2008 is something we may never see again. that race between hillary clinton and barack obama and the type of support that both of them motivated, the iraq war, post katrina, bush fatigue. there were so many factors in the air in 2008 that it's a little unfair to compare the democrats of 2008 to the democrats of any future. here. as of 3:30 a.m. eastern, the super tuesday turnout has nearly flipped from 2008. something candidates in both parties will be looking to play into their favor.. and more emotional testimony

>> this is 7news now. >> christa: good morning, everybody. a rainy wednesday the start here on 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: here are some of the stories we're working on for you. breaking news on the cape. a teenager hit by a car overnight. police say the 13-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries. >> christa: breaking overnight, crews have removed an s.u.v. from inside a pizza shop in west newton. two people were killed when a driver suddenly plowed through the front window at dinnertime. several people, including the driver, are still in the hospital, as well. >> sarah: and super tuesday was a good night for the front-runners. hillary clinton and donald trump added to their delegate leads with seven state wins each, including massachusetts. >> christa: a little warmer out there to start. >> sarah: it was. >> christa: take the good with the bad.
little rain i guess. it all evens out. look at all the green behind you, by the way. >> rob: that's good news. temperatures warmed through the overnight hours. most of the winter weather advisories have been canceled. this is for the most part rain. 35 in jaffrey. 52 in boston. 52 in plymouth. the only area still under a winter weather advisory. parts of vermont and new hampshire, some of the higher elevation, greene mountains and white mountains, can't rule out an icy spot there. see these numbers generally well above freezing, especially from the boston area south and east. 52 the current temperature in new bedford. these showers are zipping along, moving at about 60 to 70mph. and in some of those stronger cells, some of those strong winds can actually mix down to the surface, meaning we could get some pretty impressive wind gusts out of these things as they move along. the the heaviest rain right now basically here between leominster and greenfield. these showers moving off to the northeast. again, about 60mph as they're heading toward manchester, concord here, look out for some pockets of some
gusty winds in the next couple minutes. but that's basically what we'll be watching here over next several hours, pockets of the heavy rain and along with that gusty wind, all part of a large storm system. this zips through here this morning and then the air clears out but turns much, much cooler. so even though we're in the 50s now, 52 in boston, temperatures will actually be falling down to the mid and upper 30s by this evening. so 50s this morning but 30s later on today. gusty winds likely throughout the day. and you combine the gusty winds with falling temperatures and tonight is really going to feel cold. temperatures down to the upper teens to low 20s with the wind-chill down into the single digits. 7news "today in new england" starts now. >> christa: breaking news first up at 5:00 a.m. struck in the street. a 13 year old critically hurt when he's hit by a car out on the cape. ism breaking overnight. after working for hours, crews remove the s.u.v. that crashed right through a west newton restaurant during the dinner rush killing two people.
