right. will the weather coast into the weekend. we have a few bumps to go through. we have more clouds in the mix today. scattered showers and storm to north and west. a lot of drying up as it tries to work into southern new england. better chance of showers. can't rule out a spot shower later on this afternoon. highs limited with a cloud cover. couple of daying as i thought we would take a run. too many clouds out there. low-to-mid 80s ought to do it for many town. we're watching cater showers and storro thursday as well. then we quiet down for a few days. however as we get to tail end of the weekend and early next week we do have to watch what's going on in the tropic. we'll talk more on that and the potential impact coming up in a bit. >> time now for fast track traffic. here's danielle gersh. >> it's been a messy morning on the road. here's 93 southbound as you make your way through summerville. still very slow. this is pretty much the case back to 128. let's switch cameras and look at the expressway.

although it's not looking bad there. you will see a lot of red. 35 minutes south of town. not bad around the braintree split. you're slowing down a little bit on 95 northbound there as you approach 128 also slow 128 northbound heading up to the pike stop and go into boston. also slow and go traffic on route 2 and 3 this morning. let's check the drive times if you get ready to head tout door. 25 minutes to half an hour on the the expwa 93 southbound 128 to zakim bridge. that's your shortest drive. both the t and commuter rail are running on schedule. breaking overnight a deadly crash under investigation after two people onboard a hotel shuttle bus were killed and four others were hurt. that shuttle collided with a car on route 1-5 in east boston. handful of others were injured in this as well. the crash had parts of the ted

let's headout to jennifer eagan with what we know about the victims as well. jen? >> all roads are back open here this morning. state police say the two people killed onboard that hotel shuttle bus are from out of state. this accident happened around 1:30 this morning on 1-a north beyond the ted williams tunnel. subaru driven by a man dlooid collided with the hotel shuttle bus taking passenger to the hampton mass general hospital with nonlife threatening injury. there was heavy damage to the front end of the subaru. we could see it was missing the window and the back in some of the windows along the side, too. the accident happened right where traffic from the pike and the airport merges. this part of 1-a shut down earlier this morning. at this point no charges against either driver. we're live in east boston.

man accused of making threat against police and president obama is due back in court. joseph gargelo initially appear befored -- before a judge on monday. fbi agents found weapons and ammunition as well as handwritten notes threatening to attack muslims. the women convicted of attempting murder by withholding her son's chemotherapy medication is set for a change of plea hearing this salem superior court. kristen lebre was accused of withholding medication in 2011. in march the supreme court granted motion for new trial. she was released the next month after serving five years in prison. >> caught on camera, a violent seen playing out in framingham two officers assaulted while they are trying to arrest a domestic violence suspect and the suspect in this case a mixed

framingham with the story. >> sarah police were responding to domestic disturbance call when they got inside the house it was them that were under attack. police say that this fight between the officers and the suspect lasted about ten minutes. two framingham officers pushed across the kitchen by angry suspect. >> let go of him. thin fist start flying. the officers trying to restrain 29-year-old marcus bino after responding to a violence call at his girlfriend's apartment. >> we asked you nicely. put your hands behind your back. you're under arrest. bino who claims he's mixed marshall arts fighter. when the officers aarrived. it appeared the male was waiting for them. girlfriend called 911 claiming he punch her in the face. the fight with police that lasts ten minutes he mostly hit the mail officer.

got into a fight at breakheart reservation. investigator say the suspect stole a car then drove out before crashing it. the victim suffered some serious injuries but is expected to recover. new this morning an outpouring of support for the survivor of sexual assault at a prep school in new hampshire. after the teen came forward to tell her story. 17-year-old chessy pratt was 15-year-old student at st. paul's prep. former classmate owelebrees sentenced to year in jail. she spoke about the incident for the first time on "today show" yesterday. she announced online campaign hashtag i have the right to. survivor been submitting note or video with their own examples. the campaign twitter also flooded with support thanking pratt for coming forward with

hawaii effected by one of these storms it sounds like. >> tropical island out there. they have cool waters sounding the island and unfavorable wind shear. once in a while they can get hit by hurricane. the worst one was in '92. that went over kaui as compared some we've had in the summer. rain, right? welcome sight we haven't seen much of it across new england. most of the rain has been in central and northern new england. we may catch a sprinkle or two nothing appreciable that we are talking about here. more of cloud producer than anything else. that will limit-down into the 80s. once into the overnights hours that's the next best chance for

won't rain the whole time but we'll get passing showers and time. i think the focus by tomorrow afternoon starts to slide south of the mass pike. better opportunity in the afternoon. the cape and island. we will highlight thursday as the higher rain chance then taper that chance off to start the weekend. if we see anything from anything in tropics going on. i wouldn't be until late sunday and monday and tuesday of next week. 84 to 88 this afternoon. filtered sunshine. maybe leaning more toward that have been in place. mild and muggy overnight tonight. scattered showers around mid-60s to 70. scattered showers and thunderstorm tomorrow with temperature running into the mid 70s to near 80 degrees. it has been a warm summer and dry summer. for more on that over to danielle. hard to believe it's the last day of august. we're wrapping the month up as the warmest on record. highs and low average together just over 76 degrees.

1988. 75.5. likely 2016 going to snatch that spot. this the likely right now the driest summer on record. so so far we haven't picked up 4 inch of rain. not sure that will hold there in the number one spot. to give you an idea of how low we run on atmosphering. by this time in the summer we should have over 10 inch of able. we don't have anywhere near the past 24. now back to category three storm packing wind of 120 miles per hour. it's tracking northeast. it's expected to weaken to tropical storm and then an area of low pressure not until the end of the weekend and heading into next week. we keep a close eye on tropical depression 8. this is also tracking northeast at five miles per hour. but looking like it's going to head out to sea now. it's still expected to

tropical depression 9. for more on that and the impact at home, kris back to you. tropic with all the action out of atlantic. we had swell backing to east coast. some ongoing issue with rip current is there and will be there through the holiday weekend. here's tropical depression number 9. this looks better in terms of strengthen here down into the gulf of mexico this morning likely becoming a tropical storm later on today at it's not already there. it has been looking healthy in terms of tropical depression. emerging off the coastline saturday. confidence in this forecast until it gets the north carolina coastline. look at that cone and how widespread it is. you know if this tracks several hundred miles away we're partly sunny and breezy to end the weekend. if it's a lot closer to new england then we have to throw in

stronger wind gust with this and we'll have to watch that track carefully. models all over the place. the reason for that is the question mark of where does this high block off the path of tropical system that will move up the coast. if it pushes back near the coastline or if this can move fast enough it can escape out to sea. all eyes on the tropical system as we get into late sunday and monday. we'll leave it delay for now. question mark regarding that track and that could impact i should say the forecast going forward. guys? >> chilling confirmation surrounding mysterious snake skin found in maine. dna coast confirm it belongs to anaconda. residents there are understandably on high alert since june there's been several spotting of a large snake living near the river. devowering animal. police say expert estimate the

state police say the two people killed onboard that hotel shuttle bus were from out of state. 58-year-old man and 47-year-old women from el paso, texas. this crash happened just after 1:30 this morning on 1-a north. a subaru driven by man from swampscott rear ended that shuttle bus. three other people oth hospital as was the driver of subaru. as the hampton inn shuttle bus was towed away. the two people killed were throne from the bus. there's seat belts on the bus. police will be looking into whether or not the two victims had them on. the accident happened where traffic merges. this part of s-a north was

investigating. but all roads are back open. state police looking into whether or not there should be charges against either of the drivers in this case. we're live in east boston this morning. jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." officers say the man seen in this footage broke into the store sunday morning. according to police the man stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. assault on an elderly women. he stole the women's handbag and pushed her when he picked her up at her home monday night. the 21-year-old driving drove off with hundreds of dollars in cash and stolen credit cards. officers arrested him on tuesday. he grabbed her handbag and bag

as he started to leave she tried to stop him and pushed her. resident in one seaside plymouth community are warned to lock up their home after an alarming incident with intruder. at least two break-ins were reported in the area and in one case the suspect apparently wasn't wearing any pants. here's john cocoa with more. shed was. tiffany maszon said she was startled sunday night while sitting on white vs. horse beach with her when she heard screams from a nearby cottage. >> we heard a women yelling. you know, get out of my house. who are you. we saw the guy run down the stairs and book it to the end of the brook and we were just confused as to what was going on. she spoke with women who lives in the home this mysterious and pantless man ran out of.

out thanks to cloud. a lot of showers and storm try work in. have a tendency to fade out. i can't rule out a spot shower. overnight tonight and during the day tomorrow. better chance of scatter showers and storm. by the time we get mid-to-late afternoon. the best chance for shower or thunderstorm is mainly south of the pike on thursday afternoon. still a spot shower possible on friday. some cold air aloft. catch you dry hours out there. friday doesn't start to turn on the cooler side towns closer to 84 thanks to all of the cloud cover moving in place for the afternoon. afternoon game at fenway park we're not worried about rain. mild and muggy overnight tonight. scatter showers moving in. mid-60s to near 70 degrees. we'll continue that chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorm tomorrow. with temperature generally running mid sfenlts to lower 80s. some hued inity around for one more day.

for now look how warm the summer has been. >> august going to go down as the warmest on record. so far average temperature 76.5 degrees. and in 1988 that currently holds the number one spot for warmest on record. average temperature around 75. we're definitely looking like we're going to beat that number. also right now we're on track for the driest summer on record as well. by this time in the summer we should have over 10 and instead we don't have four inch. we have a ways to go with the summer season. we'll have to watch that statistic for you. also watching the tropics guston a category three hurricane. category 2 yesterday. it's strengthened a little bit. and it's going to track northeast out to sea. right now it's packing winds of 120 miles per hour. by the end of the weekend it's expected to weaken to tropical storm. also off the carolina coast we're watching tropical

northeast at 35 miles per hour. right now it's not looking like it will be threat to land. we're watching it closely yesterday. but tropical depression 9 down in the gulf of mexico we're also watching and that could impact us. for more on how, back to you. likely sooner than later that's the next tropical storm of the season. looking healthy on the satellite and radar into the gulf of mexico. radar beam don't go up more than 300 miles. you see the bright white pe midlevel circulation lining up. i think it's all systems go for this storm to strenghten as it approaches florida in a couple of days. it scoots across the carolina coastline. high confidence in that track. high confidence to become the next tropical storm. possibility before it reaches the big bend of florida there. then as it emerges off the carolina coastline look at the spread of the cone. don't focus on just the track
