this band. in fact, you picked up there northwestern worcester county three inch in royalston. inch and a half in worcester so far. it's been a beneficial rain for some towns. closer to boston then down much southeastern mass. we haven't seen a lot of rain at this time. right now we're tracking a few downpours. one of them getting close to boston. looks like that's crossing into cambridge. woburn also seeing it. wet weather around the 128 band stretching back in pike toward west borrow as well. we tapered the rain off. as we speak and this is nature of the game. they are scattered in terms of the downpour. not all towns will see heavy rain. although the channels of rain that form you can quickly pick up an inch of rain with heavier downpours. we'll deal with scattered downpours throughout the day. other times breaking in overcast as temperature warm from the 70s back up close to 80 degrees with high humidity this afternoon.

22 minutes. let's get the breaking news. we get our first look at the man wanted in connection with the becoming in manhattan. this is 28 year old amad reheny. >> investigator in new jersey detonated bomb after five of them were found in a bag near a train station. that was found in the town of elizabeth near a trash can. the investigation disin train service overnight. investigator also raiding a home believe to be keblthed with the bombing suspect. here's 7 dan hausle. dan? >> well, i'm standing on the street where the device that was couple of blocks away from the bombing was found. this is busy sidewalk. you can see people coming and going. imagine around the time of the

three people died and more than 200 people were injured. live this morning in boston. victoria warren 7news "today in new england." now to an attack that's being investigated as a potential act of terror. by the fbi. isis said one of the so-called soldiers is responsible for stabbing that happened at minnesota mall over the weekend. a man attacked nine people with a knife at the maln saint cloud saturday in two fbi has b searching suspect apartment to verify the claim. suspects shot and killed by off duty officer. none of the victim's injuries are considered life threatening. stay with 7 news for continuing coverage of the bombing in new york. and the other attacks both online and on the air as the stories develop. and breaking news. just coming into our newsroom. a child hit by a car in chelsea. it happened on carter street just before 8:00 this morning. fire officials say the child's injuries don't appear to be serious.

information as soon as it becomes available. >> breaking overnight. a man fighting for his life after being shot outside a nightclub in allston. it happened on lyndon street near the garage boston nightclub late last night. police say someone shot the victim multiple times and drove off. right now he's in critical condition. investigators believe there was some sort of altercation that led up to the shooting. >> there's always altercations when alcohol is everything else. >> anytime we have any kind of violence especially involving guns and individuals are now fighting for their lives. it's a big concern to us. so far no arrest have been made. now to a bitter sweet victory for the patriots at gillette on sunday in the team starting off the season 2-and-0. but their quarterback jimmy garoppolo is down and out. he was hit hard late in the first half. forced to leave the game. and he's already been ruled out for thursday's game against the

>> 9:16. we may be in september. the city getting set for potential snowstorms. the public works department posted this photo on twitter showing the large salt pile near 93. the department wrote let's all this. let's really hope we don't need. remember in 2011 we had huge snowstorm on halloween. last year it snowed until january. that's how the snow pile should be. and temperature close to 80 with sunshining on it there. we've had a beautiful stretch of weather at times so far this september. keeping the mild trend going. although we need the rain we

across parts of the area. not all of us will go. come away with this storm system saying that was good soaking rain. some will. boylston over 3 inch of rain. the winner out in northwestern worcester. even the city of worcester picking up an inch and a half this morning. you work your way toward lawrence close to an inch of rain. we haven't had that amount in boston. we had downpour roll on through. we've had some scattered downpours close to boflt tou metro west. this actually stretches along route 9 at boston now. sliding back into brookline. you get back into newton and into framingham. scattered downpour across the cape as well. some buckets of rain coming out of these. these are real soaking rain. eastern connecticut. southeastern connecticut moving into southern are rhode island. this area will see how much expands northbound through the rest of this morning into the

close to downpour. as we tap into more moisture we'll get more scattered showers and storm across southeastern mass into the afternoon. not all towns will get hammered with downpours. a few of these cells will drop some locally heavy rain. we've seen that across the area. overnight tonight. scattered shower or thunderstorm left over across southeastern mass into the morning. look at this by tomorrow afternoon returning to partly cloudy sky and temperature back into the 80s. at least away from mas tomorrow afternoon. right now we've had hits of sun. mid 70s. 75 norwood. 72 in boston. clouds are winning out right now. dewpoint levels surging up close to 70. here we are on the heals of fall coming in close here. and we're talking about temperatures running into the 80s. and high humidity in place. it's not going to feel like fall this week. you can see the 80s off to the west of us. that moves in tomorrow. it will stick with us through the end of the work week.

a close encounter for some fibberman off the cape. they spotted a fan very close to their boat. turned out i this was in the waters off sandwich. and you can imagine its probably a little bit unnerving. once it got within feet of their boat, though it just swam away speaking of sharks there's one named after big poppy. they found and tagged this 15-foot shark earlier this month. they just announced they named it after the red sox slugger. he's just getting everything named for him.

investigation. west 27th here. this is location where the investigators found that second suspicious device after the chelsea bombing four blocks away from here. found by a women who lives on this busy street here. she looked out and found what she thought looked like a pressure cooker with the phone taped to it. this is something i think looks like a bomb. she called police. they found it and possibly prevented something worse from happening. now the investigate o asking for the public's help again. this time l calls a suspect in the bombing here in new york. 28-year-old ahmed rahamy. born in afghanistan he become a u.s. citizen now they are looking for him in connection with the bombing. they said he could be armed and dangerous. an explosive discovery in new jersey. a backpack filled with bombs. found at a transit station in elizabeth. one of the devices exploding

>> welcome back. 9:44. a little rain in the forecast. much needed, though, right. doesn't always make monday easier. we got to get out of this drought situation. >> don't want it for the morning commute. we can use any rain we can get. we've had a good dose of it across southeastern new hampshire. those areas including in the ongoing extreme drought. we threw northerning froms of this extreme drought area. in fact that stretched from the seacoast of new hampshire into far southern maine there then back through manchester. concorde, new hampshire and out into northwestern new hampshire. even the city of worcester right there at about inch and a half of rain. in boston we haven't had as much. locations many of them south of mass pike. couple of brief downpours rolled

of boston and that does include stretching back into dorchester rosslandale and back into portion of needham as well. big time thunderstorms developing. down across southern rhode island in fact there's a couple of severe thunderstorm warning for southern rhode island for these storm that are capable of producing powerful wind gust. we've seen wind aloft in the. minor rotation at time in couple of cell on the connecticut rhode island border. this is where the strongest cells are. now how much of this moisture gets dragged into southeastern mass is question. which expect localized downpours. especially out of route 44. there's issue places like new bedford. got to watch to see the development and evolution of those downpours there. that's the main threat with a lot of these would be locally heavy rain.
