3 january is human trafficking awareness month... month...fox carolina's andrew reeser joins us live in the newsroom with chilling details on h your kids might be at risk. 3 just in the last two days...more than a dozen people in the palmetto state were locked up on charges of selling minors as sex slaves... 5 of those in spartanburg county. and it may disturb some parents to know that recruiting for this modern day slavery...could be happening on your child's smartphone. 3 3 3 just how many local sex workers are human trafficking victims?19:11:58"who wakes up one morning and says i want to be a prostitute when i grow up?"zaina greene, community outreach director with switch...a non profit that fights human trafficking... says you'd be surprised. 19:09:10"there's still that myth that you know women are choosing this lifestyle so a lot of times it's hard to figure out what is really happening."in greenville county alone...greene says there are 4 thousand sex

to a student who unexpectedly died earlier this week...by letting his younger brother start in his place during tonight's basketball game. game.18-year-old "nathan moore" was a senior at greer high ...and starter on the varsity basketball team. team.tonight...school officials say they will honor moore by letting his younger brother kyle -- a sophomore -- start in his place during tonight's game at blue ridge. we're told a tribute will also likely take place at half-court before the game. game.moore was found dead at his home on tuesday.the coroner says autopsy results did not reveal a definitive cause of death...but foul play is not expected.results of a more in-depth examination and toxicology results are pending. 3 in spartanburg county-- deputies say a man has been charged with several sex offenses...and he's being investigated by the f-b-i. f-b-i.william johnson is facing four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree--and four counts of engaging a child under 18 for sexual performances. warrants state the crimes were committed from 2007 to 20-12.deputies say

the case since mid december with the help of the f-b-i. johnson was arrested monday-- and deputies say he later confessed to the allegations. deputies say they're continuing to work with the victims and potential victims. 3 we're getting updates on two murder cases out of anderson county-the suspects involved in both h cases went before a judge this morning to make an appeal for the judge to grant bond. bond.only fox carolina's cameras were rolling as brothers "oscar and jacob lance" appeared in court...each charged with murder, burglary, and arson. family members spoke out...saying the brothers couldn't have committed the crimes they're accused of... but the judge ordered that they stay locked up. 3 the brothers are accused of beating "todd cantlay" to death...then setting him on fire...while cantlay's teenage son was sleeping. sleeping.investigators say the 17-year-old woke up to the smell of smoke...and found his

burning inside their home. deputies say the boy put out the fire before calling 9-1-1 during the early morning hours of november 13th.but this morning in court...loved ones said the brothers aren't capable of such a heinous crime- 3 3 "this is not in his heart to do this. my eight year old granddaughter, when she found out what happened, my eight year old granddaughter said, 'grandma, i know he didn't do this.'" this.'""i just want him to be able to take care of his baby. she had to fight for life and i just want jake to be able to come home."(cries) (cries) 3 the coroner says cantlay was beaten to death, stabbed numerous times in the neck and head, and that he suffered second-degree burns from the fire.oscar lance's attorney says the murder was a result of a marijuana deal gone bad. 3 a buncombe county triple murder suspect will have to wait longer before facing a judge. judge.accused killer--pierre griffin--was due in court today according to court

continuance and will appear in buncombe county court febuary 23-rd.griffin faces three counts of murder--along with a list of other charges. he is accused of shooting and killing three different people last year-- ....alexander king, tatianna diz, and uhon johnson-- 3 king and diz were missing for a little more than a week. asheville police say the women were picked up griffin back on october 27-th.they say he drove to a remote location before they were killed. warrants state their car was found on craven street the following day with blood and bullet holes inside. inside. and here's a look at the scene at the french broad riverwhere crews searched for over a week before they pulled king and diz out of the river. 3 griffin is also charged with the murder of uhon johnson. police say the same night the women dissappeared...griffin killed johnson, stole his suv then led deputies on a multi- county chase ending on eye-26

in buncombe county jail until his next court date. 3 an anderson woman is locked up this afternoon--charged with her role in the attempted murder of her estranged husband.but a second suspect remains on the run. run.deputies say katlyn gottbeheat turned herself in on tuesday...and is now charged with accessory after the fact to a felony.she's being held on a 15-thousand dollar bond. bond.meantime...deputies are still searching for this man--clint moore. moore.the shooting happened on november 24th at the l-a pour house bar &; grill. investigators say moore shot the victim at pointblank range...and that gottbeheat helped him by driving him from the crime scene. scene.moore is wanted for attempted murder and is considered armed and dangerous. if you se him or have any information on his whereabouts...call crime crime-sc. 3 two families lost their homes after a late niniht blazes in anderson county. county.the american red cross says homes along fairmont road in anderson and west broad

higher amounts. highs will only warm into the 40s for most spots. the rain should transition out pretty quickly on friday night with overnight lows dropping back into the 30s.saturday will be sunny and pretty comfortable with highs in the 50s area-wide. there will be a slight chance for snow in the mountains by saturday night into sunday.for a while it looked like we might see a bit of winter weather in the upstate on sunday, but that threat has diminished as the latest data is coming out. right now i'm calling for a dry forecast outside the mountains on sunday. it will be breezy with highs near 47 for the upstate and 40 in the mountains. snow showers will be possible in the mountains, right along the tn border, throughout sunday.
