3 the constititon votes that civil issues should be handled at the local level at the state level. the reason for that, is that people should decide how they live live 3 the faith and freedom coalition is an organization that says they're committed educating people of faith to be effective citizens. 3 in a story you'll see only on fox 3 from shelters, to service dogs.... miracle paws in anderson is a very special program. they take dogs given away to upstate animal shelters and train them to be diabetic alert dogs. many of their clients are children. 3 tonight, a simpsonville family that has a miracle paws dog is sharing why their pup has been a lifesaver for two young boys both with type 1 diabetes. 3 fox carolina's rebecca atkins met with that family tonight as well as the family that runs miracle paws and trains these very special companions.

3 cody and diana, they certainly are. i met five amazing dogs today that are both fully trained and in the process of training to go to future homes. the family i spoke with says their dog that was trained at miracle paws, even alerts them in the middle of the night when the boys are sleeping, and if he can't wake them up he goes straight to their mom to let her know something is wrong. 3 3 3 the bond between a human and their dog can be a special one...nats: "good boy max!"but the relationship between this teen and his standard poodle max, is exceptionally strong. strong. 3 "max, he tells when my blood sugars dropping or going up, so when he does, he normally paws me."cameron was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 18 months old, and while at his family's home today his blood sugar was high, that was max alerting him. him. 3 "let's check!"his mom told me, he isn't the only one in the family affected by this disease. 3 3 "the day that we decided to get max we found out that

cameron's younger brother, and now max works for both boys. boys. 3 "it's nice, he's a great companion for the boys as well, not just the blood sugars, but he's cameron's companion... life saver... he's amazing actually, a really cool dog to have."and his training is all thanks to another family in anderson that runs a program called miracle paws. they started training rescues after they were affected by diabetes in their own home. 3 3 "zakk was able to train his own dog, to detect his own blood sugar fluxuations."zakk is donna's son that was diagnosed with diabetes in 2009, and after their experience, the family wanted to help others. 3 3 "it's amazing to see the transformation, you take a dog that was essentially either forgotten about, lost or they didn't think they could get him or was just released because they couldn't deal with the dog, and i would love for the owner to possibly see this little fella right here... and go this was the guy you abandoned."the dogs are all from shelters across the upstate. upstate. 3 "good boy!"they are trained to detect low and high blood sugar from swab samples from their future owners. 3 3 "if i were to go into a
