the district could not confirm if other students accused of bullying are facing disciplinary actions. a bus driver for the johnston school district is in jail for allegedly assaulting a special needs student. robert scarbrough is charged with assault causing injury and child endangerment. the incident was caught on camera

and posted on twitter... officials say the student didn't follow scarbrough's seating instructions. as scarbrough approached the student...police say the student made an inflammatory comment. police say scarbrough then struggle ensued. officials say it ended when the driver pushed the student to the ground. at the next stop several alerted a polk county deputy. the driver made some poor choices...no longer with us. the district says the driver is now on unpaid leave. look for more on this story...coming up tonight at six and ten. it's an abduction that has haunted minnesota for 26 years... today... a potential break in the case. the f-b-i says 52-year-old danny heinrich , of annandale, minnesota, was arrested on federal child pornography charges last night. they have labeled him as "a

case"... but at this point, they have not charged him in connection with jacob's disappearance. jacob was 11-years-old when he was abducted while riding his bike in st. joseph. federal officials say they recently started a "cold case" review on jacob's disappearance, using d-n-a technology that wasn't available back then. they say that's what led to heinrich's arrest. an 18-year-old pleasant hill man is facing two counts of lascivious acts with a child. police arrested kyle calvert yesterday after he allegedly convinced two siblings to engage in sex acts. according to court documents....he made the requests over a video app. they go on to say... calvert admitted to possessing a video of the june 16th incident. police say he told them he was quote... "messing around." monroe police are trying to find out who is behind a rash of car thefts and break-ins. police say four cars were stolen from the city earlier this week. one has been recovered and the rest are still missing. police say six other vehicles

were also broken into at the same time. authorities think it's the same group of people involved in all the cases. if you have any information, call the monroe police or jasper county sheriff. a cedar falls woman has died after she was hit by a car early this morning. 59-year-old terry harp was trying to cross university avenue at 5-30. investigators say the woman walked out in front of a car that had just gone through a green light. police say they do not expect to file charges or issue citations to the driver. two pedestrians were hit by vehicles in two separate incidents in des moines overnight both happened within 15 minutes of each other...but police say they aren't connected. the first was just before midnight at southwest 9th and maxwelton drive. police say the vehicle hit the pedestrian then sped away... there is no word yet on the victim's condition. minutes later... in the 54-hundred block of aurora avenue... police say someone tried to start a jeep that was already in gear. it lurched over a retaining wall and hit a woman about 15 feet

midamerican energy says it's got a new way to go green... an area near you! midamerican energy is deploying it's first green service truck in the des moines area... officials say the trucks are battery. it operates the boom ...work lights...and heating and cooling in the cab. the old trucks had to remain idling for those things to work.. workers saay less idling means less fuel consumption 17:10:51 this truck is used in the field by service men street lights... and run off batter pack and makes it much quiter. unless you see the lights flashing 17:11:09

midamerican says it has about 100 service trucks. by the end of the year, eight of those will have the new green technology. the u-s department of transportation is giving iowa and 7 others states a 25-million-dollars grant. regional truck parking information management system. the parking information will be sent out by smartphone apps, road signs, websites and at parking facilities. it'll help truckers find safe parking needed for rest and overnight stays. the iowa mega-buses now feature a new state logo... megabus asked iowa residents and customers to chose one of three names: "hawkeye state"...."tall corn state"...or wild prairie rose". "hawkeye state" won in the online vote. the company says each state... where the buses operate ...got to vote on a name. mega-bus claims to be an affordable and environmentally friendly way to travel. traveling got uber fuzzy today

"we do lots of fun stuff here." these middle school students have a fun and safe place to go after school. the goal is to get them interested in higher education, and help make that dream a reality. channel 13's megan reuther introduces us to the whyld girls. it's new at five. @25:08 "a high is that i uh...got a 3 on a push

university of northern iowa --- the first in her family to go to college. @8:35 "my parents, they came from el salvador. my mother had to drop out of school when she was in 6th grade and then when she became 19 years old, she moved here to america in order to provide us a better life." luckily the whyld girls helped me learn more about scholarships, about gpa, what orientation is, what i could do while i'm in school at uni."standup@22:18 "whyld girls is funded by grants and community donations. but, they also need help to send these young ladies to college. there's an event coming up you can take part in called catwalk for college." @17:48 "the catwalk for college lets our girls see themselves in a light they might not see themselves in." the students perform monologues, dances and sing. there's also a silent auction to raise money for scholarships to help pay for books and fees. @18:49 "most of our girls are, i don't know any of them who are not first generation college, so you don't really understand the costs that accrue when you go to college." the scholarship helped gonzalez. she's now working on her masters degree in school counseling at
