people were packing their shopping carts long before the clock struck midnight... we can get amazing gifts for people and they think we spent a lot of money and we didnt. all it cost us is maybe a toe to frost bite. shoppers lined up at a west des moines best buy before the doors opened last night. most of them had their eyes on the - v for 150 dollars. thing... the cold... listening to music, talking to other people that are in the line, trying not to think about how cold you are. if youre dressed warm, its not keep me company, so its perfect. in case you're curious... the t minutes at that best buy.

some shoppers are likely wishing they waited until black friday to venture out... fire alarm the fire alarms went off at the super target on mills civic parkway last night. a viewer captured this video of the incident. as you can see... heavy smoke is coming from the kitchen area... we were called for a fire at target... we arrived to find the building full of smoke and a fire in the kitchen area that they had been extinguishing with fire extinguishers. the building... and finished putting out the flames. investigators say the kitchen was closed at the time. they are still trying to determine the exact cause. no one was injured. the store re opened at 4 a - m. a man is behind bars... accused of setting fire to a garage on thanksgiving. nicholas kollasch of cedar falls yesterday. police say he started the fire

earlier that day. they say the flames spread to three cars... one of which was carrying band equipment. the equipment was reduced to melted metal and wires. officials say kollasch fought with the band before the fire. the better business bureau is warning iowans of a scam this holiday season... officials say con artists are calling people and offering to fix their have detected a virus... and need your password to get rid of it. they then demand you pay for the service by credit card. officials say that's when they start making unauthorized charges to your card. if you get one of these calls... report it to the b - b - b. this deer harvest is stacking up to be more successful than years past... hunters have reported harvesting more than 27 thousand deer so far this season. that's nearly 4 thousand more than over the same time period in 20 - 14 and 20 -13.... officials say it could be because crops came out early... allowing

small businesses are also getting ready for the holiday shopping season. tomorrow is small business saturday.. encouraging people to shop local. nearly 74 million americans took back in 20 - 12. some small businesses in iowa say they've been preparing for it for tomorrow and in the next few weeks... could set the tone for how business goes next

16 year old jamie singletary crashed into a truck at this intersection in august. singletary and his two brothers were all killed. it's likely the 2 drivers never saw one another because of tall corn at the time.. there are also no yield or stop signs at the intersection. that changed recently... on facebook, the boys' mother... sarah hicklin... wrote, "this is the fateful intersection where my boys lost their lives. progress has been made. there are three brand new stop signs in place." you cant undo the past obviously, but i think as a legislator, its important to take new information you learn, and initiate discussions and i think it would be easier to put our heads in the sand, but the responsible thing to do is to have discussions about how we can improve safety the county is in the process of installing stop signs at about three dozen more uncontrolled instersections. windsor heights residents will

head to the polls again next week... they will elect one more person to join threase harms on the city council. harms beat out an incumbent earlier this month... with 35 percent of the votes. no other candidates met the threshold required to win the remaining seat. a runoff election between the two runners - up will be held tuesday. hey are arlene bu and zachary bales - henry. polls are open from 7 a - m to 8 p - m. iowa has only won the heroes trophy 1 time... a second win... would finish a perfect season. the 20 - 14 cornhusker comeback sparked an off season of change. iowa lost a 17 - point lead... and eventually, the game in overtime. and today... big red nation will try to ruin iowa's playoff chances. those who can't make it to lincoln can watch the game with fans in west des monies. the polk county i - club is holding an

power is slowly coming back on across the state... after an icy overnight... "mid american energy" says 130 homes are in the dark in central iowa. the majority of those homes are in fort dodge. at one point... more than 600 homes were without power. officials say it's because ice and snow were piling up on power
