school girls basketball coach was arrested this afternoon... the charges he's facing... and the response from the des moines public school district. the head girls basketball coach at des moines roosevelt high school is in jail tonight... charged with a pair of felonies. good evening. i'm dan winters. and i'm sonya heitshusen... we broke the story on the channel 13 news at four... the arrest of gerald 'tig' johnson. police say the 46-year old turned himself in this afternoon.. the charges are sexual exploitation by a school employee and assault with intent to commit sex abuse. he is being held in the polk county jail without bond. johnson is a special education teacher, besides coaching girls basketball. a district spokesman tells us johnson was immediately placed on administrative leave... a statement reads, in part: "roosevelt and the school district are
currently underway. in the meantime, a teacher is assigned to assume johnsons classroom duties and assistant coaches will be leading the basketball team." a pleasant hill woman is headed to prison for abusing children at her in- home day care. christina williamson received a five year sentence for two counts of child endangerment. channel 13's jannay towne joins us now... jannay, williamson had asked for probation.. the judge told williamson she needs to be punished for her actions... after calling the abuse "sickening". parents who spoke at her sentencing described williamson as "a monster". they can't get those images from the disturbing hidden video... taken inside her pleasant hill home.. out of their minds.. 39:23 i missed work, i missed sleep, i missed my family because all i could see was you throwing my child in my head. we have a lot to be thankful for. my daughter is healthy and she is safe and she will not remember this time of her life and it will not

a man was shot during an armed robbery in fort dodge. officers found steven burns with a gunshot wound to his hip. burns said he was out walking when two men approached him and demanded money. burns said he refused and was shot. police are asking anyone with information, to contact them or webster county crime stoppers. the polk county medical examiner says a the suspect in a home invasion died from a stab wound to the chest. detectives say 31-year old travis williams of earlham broke into a home on east 14th street early saturday morning and fought with two people inside. those two... an 18 and 19-year-old have not been charged with any crime. by now you've heard about donald trump's proposal to ban muslims from
